    The rocking is a self-soothing technique. He’s having a very clear anxiety attack. He’s worried and scared. He’s not being slick or greasy. The laughter isn’t gleeful. I laugh like that too when I’m having anxiety or super uncomfortable. I feel like everyone has Chris Watts glasses on instead of remembering that real people have real emotions and not every man is out here annihilating their families.

      I am autistic. Very very late diagnosed at age 40 and I'm 42 now and I'm still learning. But his inability to make eye contact all that stuff it could just have been anxiety and the situation I can't imagine I just cannot imagine. But no I did not see Chris Watts vibes at all. Chris Watts was smiling the whole time and making a defensive I suppose soothing but I don't think he needed to self soothe honestly I think he was just crossing his arms and closing himself off because this was not necessary for him you know he did not need to be having these interviews he did not want to be doing these things he wanted it done and over with he didn't want to deal with it anymore. This guy was different. And I'm not saying he is autistic I'm not saying that at all I'm just saying I can see some tendencies that makes sense to me because I see it in my son he was is also autistic. I do find a way to lighten things to make them palatable I think with humor sometimes not necessarily humor but to be able to laugh to bring yourself back to something that's comfortable something that makes sense to you when nothing else is making sense

    she should have gotten life in prison w/o the possibility of parole. the fact that she will only serve a % of those 55 years means she will be out again one day & that is NOT fair this was so calculated and took her 9 months to plan, she should never see the light of day again, that is such a slap in the face to the victims in this case, Heidi, the baby, her son, and her boyfriend. That is so messed up!!

She had to have been planning it for over a year so when Heidi announced she pregnancy, she was ready to go with her scheme and start the lies! How sad! I wonder how the body wasn’t stinking! What a sick psycho to keep it all this time! Good God! Lord, have mercy on Shane and Silas, baby Margot snd Heidi’s family. And even Shane’s older daughter Addison! What a sad story!

    • @armurph1102
      @armurph1102 7 месяцев назад +3

      She probably would have gotten Life w/o parole had she not plead guilty to a lesser charge. DA's make those offers to avoid the costs of trial. Those costs are more than just monetary costs, they try to save the family from having to further endure even more emotional & psychological pain that a trial would cause. Also, she very well could be forced to serve the full 55 years. She has to serve at least 85% of the 55 years before she can try to get paroled. If the family makes a statement at that parole hearing, the board very well would most likely reject the petition for parole.

    Thank you so much for covering Heidi's story. I went to high school with her and we were really good friends. She was one of the sweetest girls you could ever want to know. People had nothing but kind, caring words about her. She touched a lot of lives and had a ton of friends. We were in a club called "students helping students" and we would pair with the special ed students and mentor them and help them with their everyday school days. She was so involved with this. Losing her impacted many, many lives. She didn't deserve this at all. RIP Heidi, we all love and miss you.

    Heidi was a very dear part of my family. I still to this day have a #JusticeforHeidi sticker on my car. I haven't had the heart to take it off. She was such a bright light. She was my cousins best friend. They would take me every where with when I was a little girl. My mom was in prison so I moved in with my aunt and they really became like older siblings to me. She was such a sweet and funny girl, so full of life. She gave the best hugs. I remember the shock of hearing what had happened to her and Margo. What a fucking tragic ending of someone that loved living her life. I haven’t listened to it all the way through yet, but it’s going to be rough. Thank you for covering this so thoroughly, Annie. I always get so angry every single time I see true crime videos and people start immediately judging people based on their reactions, emotions or what they believe is a lack of emotions. If I were ever to find myself in a similar situation, I'd be misjudged and people would say I was guilty bc of how I react to things. I was severely abused by my mother my entire childhood. The physical, mental, emotional & psychological abuse started when I was a year old, whenever I tried to climb on her lap for love & comfort, she'd push or throw me off of her and tell me not to touch her. The physical aspect of the abuse lasted until I was 11 but the mental, emotional,psychological abuse continued until I left home at 16. I was sexually abused at 5 bc my mom had big parties in our apartment and she'd get so intoxicated that she allowed random men "tuck me into bed" and read a story. I was never allowed to express my emotions, whenever I expressed sadness or even anger, my mother would beat the tar out of me. At 17, I met a man who was 28, had a great job and owned his own home. He seemed like he was my knight in shining armor. He was the first person I had ever fully confided my childhood abuse to. He swept me off of my feet, telling me he'd never hurt me and would love me like I'd never experienced. I believed him. Everything was so wonderful until after I gave birth to our 1st son and got married when he was 3 months old. Looking back, he had started doing little things to break me down mentally & emotionally but I didn't realize it when it was happening. He physically attacked me for the very 1st time was the day after we got married. He would beat me while screaming at me to quit crying & stop begging him to stop. He told me the more I begged & cried, the worse it was going to be. He literally beat my emotions out of me. I had to condition myself not to cry or cry out in pain during the beatings. He also began r@ping me, as well. He did everything in his power to break me and he actually succeeded for a very long time. He would beat the hell out of me & he would constantly headbutt me causing me to have concussions. After he had finished beating me, he'd look at me and ask me what was wrong with me, he'd act like he was truly concerned about me and he wouldn't stop asking me what was wrong with me, so I would finally respond to him by telling him I was so upset and scared bc of the abuse I was going thru at his hands. He would look me dead in my eyes & tell me he was so concerned about my mental health because he had never put his hands on me nor had he ever headbutt me! After almost every beating, he would tell me that it never happened & I was crazy & having delusions & belonged in a sanitarium. Because of all of the abuse I endured for the first 24 years of my life, I cannot express my emotions in the presence of ANYONE. I even get angry at myself if I cry or let out my feelings when I am alone. I'd get convicted for a crime bc of it

    Shane’s interview for me, demonstrates a man who is distressed and overwhelmed. I don’t think there is anything suspicious in his behaviour. His actions seem genuine to me. But I think the best of most people, until they show me who they really are.
    I’m sure more will be revealed as i continue to watch this video.

    I actually think he was genuine during the interview. I use humor to get through tough situations so the fact that he laughed (I wouldn't really call that laughing) is exactly what I do when I'm being grilled. the "
    laughing is when I'm in my head acknowledging the awkwardness of the whole interaction. the way people react to things is on a spectrum, I think we need to remember that right?

    I didn't get Chris Watts vibes in his interview. I saw a guy very nervous,upset and someone who's very uncomfortable with sharing anykind of feelings especially with a bunch of stranger's. I think he just chuckles when he gets nervous or when expressing any feelings. So crazy to think that someone you shared so much of your life with for so long would do something like this is so crazy.

    I absolutely hate how often someone is compared to Chris Watts and his news interview. He showed absolutely no emotion whatsoever...no anxiety, stress, worry, nothing. And basically stood with his arms crossed the entire time, which most everyone considers a defensive action. Shane was the exact opposite. He was very clearly self-soothing by rocking/swaying. His cadence sounded genuinely panicked...the broken sentences and mix of emotions mid conversation. The smiling was likely a mix of recalling his last conversation with Heidi, which based on his retelling, was a pleasant one, and fighting not to lose his mind on a public platform. Trauma makes everyone react differently.

  • @GothicUndone
    @GothicUndone 8 месяцев назад +12

    How?? How could anyone do this to anyone let alone their closest friend?! I have heard of horrific cases like this before. But not with a very close friend. Usually it’s someone the victim barely knows, or a neighbour. But her very closest friend(!) absolutely horrific and appalling. For her to also do that to an innocent sweet baby and Heidi’s son as well, is just diabolical. The deplorable things some people are capable of doing will never cease to appall me. Even though I’ve been a true crime fan for a long time. In my mind, it wasn’t just mental health issues with Megan. I think she was massively jealous. Megan was hugely jealous and I think also very possessive of Heidi. I think she was jealous that Heidi was staying with her husband. Heidi had one child already, she was now having another baby. Whereas Megan’s relationship had just failed and she had no children. She became desperate and clearly crazed and I think she stopped seeing Heidi as her friend and started to see her as her competitor and an answer to have a baby and possibly get back with her ex.

Originally when found out the Gender my mom was going to get one of those announcement Storks and then these cases started popping up and we threw the stork idea out the window. Didn't do one for any of my pregnancies and never posted anything on social media. Something that everyone used to do all the time, now? I haven't seen any of those stork announcements anymore. It's heart breaking that we have to be so careful to keep our babies safe while still in the Womb. That we have to worry about who is brought around us and if they are presenting any red flags.

    I finally made the leap and subscribed to Beam Dream! For 24 years, I have had sleep issues. In 2000, I was actually diagnosed with a sleep disorder. Of course, the doctors’ first course of action was Ambien. I took it for a while, with minimal results. And when I became privy to its side effects, I tapered off and quit.
    I have now been drinking Beam Dream for a few weeks, and it does put me to sleep, but most importantly, I STAY asleep! I usually get 8 hours and wake up without an alarm; refreshed more than I have been in (like I said) 24 years!
    Annie, thank you from the bottom of my heart for turning us all on to Beam! Also, thank you for being a voice of the victims!❤

    People jumping to blame him is just wrong. Watching his body language and watching how he was to me that came off 100% genuine. It came off as someone who has been told to man up his entire life and not show emotion he's fighting back tears he's trying to figure out what is going on where is his fiance where is his child what happened to them none of this makes any sense. And he's got everything coming at him from every side on top of a 6-year-old asking where his mom and sister is when he has no answers. He feels completely penned up trying to sit in one spot and comes off to me as someone who is a doer not a talker. So to Penn him into one spot and to try and to try and stay in frame when the only thing he wants to do is jump up and try and physically locate his missing child and significant other is it going to make him feel like a caged rat in a corner. He came off to me as being locked into a 100% fight or flight mode.

    People react differently in stressful situations. I was held up at gun point when I worked at a CVS. My coworker was screaming and crying where all I could do was chuckle and pray for her to be quiet. It’s more of a ‘ I can’t believe this is happening to me” type of situation

    His reaction seems genuine. He had a difficult time getting his emotions out and so it looked “odd” to other people.

    30:28 I never thought he acted suspiciously. Think he’s just trying to hold it together. People are real quick to judge and make assumptions.

    Just a small correction -- "The Woodlands" isn't a rural area in Texas. It's actually a subburb of Houston. It wouldn't be unusual for someone living in Houston to see a doctor or go to a hospital in the Woodlands.

    On top of the nightmare this poor man has gone through he recently suffered a stroke and had to have part of his skull removed. He has a gofundme if anyone is able to help him.

    Literally, Westminster SC had a similar case. In 1999, Lori Webb (Brown) did similar...she tried to cut open the girls stomach with a box cutter.

    Compare this to like Jennifer Soto or the parents of Summer Wells and you have a great example of a response based in sincere panic and worry, and ones based in guilt. Its a lot about whether they're being forthcoming and seeking solutions or being dodgy and offering explanations.

    When I feel a panic attack coming on, this is the way I get, I go all over the place mentally, light headed, walking in circles, rocking, standing up then sitting down every 2 minutes, I understand the feeling of panic attacks, can you imagine that feeling but a million times worse with your wife and newborn just gone!

    Soon as she said she had the same date, I would be suspicious just simply because this has happened before it is not unheard of. It's crazy that these women think they will get away with killing someone and taking their baby. So so sad

    I feel so bad for the dad during his interview. I also have this problem that I laugh uncontrollably when it is least appropriate and I'm super anxious. Many people don't understand, unfortunately.
