Charlie Rose wasn't rude. He's going to the core rather than skin-deep. That makes him a good interviewer. MM LKY was very steady and spontaneous. Not many SG ministers can respond like him. I love watching this.
"How on earth are you going to put those little bits together? It's not possible." Mr. Lee was spot on. It's not for another 8 years that President Trump begins to pull out of Afghanistan, and 12 years later in 2021 with Afghanistan being more fragmented than ever, President Biden finally gives the order to pull out completely. "We could not provide them with the will to fight for (their) future" - Biden
Afghan wars had been going on for almost 3 decades when this interview took place. And 12 years after this, the conflict still goes on just like LKY said. It’s even possible that we may never see a united peaceful secular Afghanistan in our lifetime again,
And what Mr. Lee said about an adversarial free press in the west will rip a country apart, like what has happened in that country of free press and democracy . everything he said has come true.
and he said the need to field good honest leaders with integrity to lead the country otherwise the country will go to the dogs. This has come to pass too , as we all can see.
Mr. Lee 's advice , better heed or you will live to regret it.
a brilliant mind--incisive
and somehow inevitably right most of the time
What I leanrt through the years is Mr. Lee Kuan Yew is never wrong about his observations about worldly affairs.
LKY is highly eloquent, persuasive and intelligent.
LKY was right, you have to let them govern themselves and when they do and find political stability-- whenever that is, is when you can start trading with them.
If LKY was younger, he would have blasted this fella
Being humble is not in his DNA....
@trini133
omg that was so touching how old are u?
I hate THAT rosy Charlie! He's sooo rude, always interrrupting . If he knows social etiquette, it is never to interrupt till the other guy stops speaking!! Someone should tell him to shut up. It's like he's afraid the camera is straying away from him and he's gotta bark in between and remind the cameraman...annoying.
2:43seconds. I bet that he meant World Trade Organisation instead of World Trade Center right?
Get shot for nothing, truth
pointing finger to someone or VIP is a an impolite.
Hey, go see the world. Don't use your standard as yardstick for everyone out there.
This charlie fella points, interrupts and looks like he is challenging LKY and hopes that he says something wrong. Plus, he must stop portraying himself as thinking of China as a "bad" country.
Charlie Rose's interruption in this part of the interview is annoying.
OMG, lol... think for the americans????
All his life, LKY is always on the go. I feel he needs a breather and relax. He cares too much for Singapore.and the people. I hope he knows we care for him in return though we don't show it .
Wonder if he likes ice-cream like I do. Well, if he were my granddad I would lke to take him to a place with lots of greenery, running stream tripping over the rocks and birds chirping above. And then I would pop open a box with all goodies and let him enjoy some fishing.
8:30 Mr. Lee forgot about his former master, British.
british abandoned singapore long ago
The West had investments aka economic colonization in SEA. We are all their bitches and slaves. The post-independence is a illusion. The only time we are truly free from the Old World Order imperialism is the time when we truly gained REAL national sovereignty.
PRC is the champion of REAL national sovereignty, and encourage all smaller states to band up together to defense against the imperialists. Know what is the Global South?
The international capitalists only care about abusing cheap labours and cheap plantations (banana republic).
Truth hurts...
