      @@anirudh2704 no in some ways diversity can be our strength as well. India can only continue to keep growing if all religious animosity is finished and more and more people are tolerant and we, Indians matter more than sub nationalism or religion. We were gradually going towards that, but Hindu nationalism has destroyed the pace to some extent and if it continues further, the pace of high growth for India might as well reverse. U have to accept and understand Muslims, Hindus, Christians everyone together runs this country, but if religious homogenity takes front seat rather than growth, everything will be finished for India. We have signs, we must act upon it immediately.

    The late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was a humble wise man of Asia.
    Obama should have listened to his advice back in 2009 and prepared to pull out the US forces out of Afghanistan as soon as Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011.
    During the 2nd term of Obama's presidency (2013-2017), the US forces should have pulled out of Afghanistan peacefully and gracefully.
    If Obama had done this then he would have written the whole chapter of history differently in a high note.
    Regarding China, keep in mind that this interview was done in 2009 when China was under the leadership of Hu Jintao who was very different than Xi Jinping.
    Mr. Lee would have given a different assessment about China should he be alive now.
    Oh how I miss Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.

    @MrDeezi Were we watching the same interview? That was a highly ignorant reply by Rose, who wants to slap his narrow U.S. ideologies on Mr. Lee, who thoroughly understands the global picture.
    Point is, each nation should think for itself based on its own unique circumstances. What works for the U.S., should stay in the U.S. Not every nation is wealthy, geographically isolated, and came out of a military win at WWII.

Furthermore, it did not seem like Mr. Lee Kuan Yew was very offended.

    @bremneshatten The 2 Singapore companies that invest tax payers' money (Temasek Holding and GIC) both do so for the Singaporean people. Singapore does not have the demographics of Australia, or the USA, or any other country, and needs to be run like a conglomerate. Apply any other political / economic system and Singapore will fail, because we're a small island. Look at the results Lee Kuan Yew has delivered. I don't care that his son is the PM as long as he's as competent as his father.

    There are obviously many Asian posters here who are unfamiliar with Charlie's "finger pointing". In America, finger pointing can also mean emphasis or it might be perceived as a simple hand gesture. In this case, it is not meant in a derogatory or patronizing manner and no American would ever take it that way. Moreover, this is a particular gesture that Charlie has and you can see it in just about every interview he does. It's really that simple.

    I think it is so stupid for a American journalist to ask lKY what should American do in Asia. He is smart, he is a great leader he is a great strategist but he is not a American. He fight for the interest of his people. He is trying to misled America that America can contain China. What he wants is confrontation between major power so they can be benefited from both side. That is how Singapore, Taiwan and Korea prosper.

    Nehru and the Congress did the blunder of not listening to Lee Kwan Yew and one should admire the wisdom of the Chinse at that time to listen to the leader of a small nation. Nehru poo poohed the idea that India can learn anything from a small nation while Deng sent his people to study Singapore. India failed not because of what Lee said i.e. diversity but because of the model India choose and conducting politics the way they did by dividing people instead of uniting them. That that continues even today is regrettable and is keeping India down.

It is time our youths stand up and form a new national party or at least join the Congress in mass and push out the Gandhi clan cronies and make it the party it was before Independence. I am sorry I missed the boat now being iver 80 years old to jump into the frey but there are youths in India who are inspired by people like Dr Kalam our People's President to make it their vocation and enter politics with a vision. I agree with you that Democracy is being abused by our politicians for short term gains leaving the nation damaged for the indefinite future.

      No, India cannot deny the fact that India is composition of many sub countries and for us , culture and language is as important as economic progress. However i agree with the political system part, India should adopted the American system of election whereby every state election and PM election is done and dusted within 1 month. There is too much politics to concentrate on development. However, what is done is done, now we must end the barriers of religion first among Indians. If somehow we are able to subdue sub nationalism and be tolerant towards every religion and see ourself as Indians rather than Hindus or Muslims or Cheistians , then we can rise. And it was slowly happening as well, but the rise of Hindu Nationalism has broken the chain somehow, and hence signs are emerging of a slow growth.Still we have time, our leaders and people should bring their act together so tat the progress doesn't reverse.

    • @SBALAK9753
      @SBALAK9753 2 года назад

      @@poushalinag7942 Unfortunately in addition to the Religion now Language has been added to the mix. There is no respect to the various Indian languages which unlike religion are concentrated in different parts and easily susceptible for asking for separation. We grossly neglect the much abused and corrupt administration in the BiMaRU states which have left most of their people with little infrastructure for good schools, trade schools, health care etc resulting in the utter poverty in theese regions and exploding population. These may be beneficial to the politicians who like nothing but dumb electorate who can be swung by divisive slogans and other means. But every Govt is more keen on cosmetic beautifying of our Capital with many air ports, posh buildings, highways to other areas etc and not in developing the infrastructure for the people of the BiMaRU states. We are destroying our nation with these policies and not being tolerant. Our politicians do not care for the long term prospects of India despite talking loudly about it in speeches but with no concrete actions spelling our problems and outlining solutions.
