- In a keynote session at the INSEAD Leadership Summit in Asia, the founder of modern Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, revealed that during a meeting with Washington aides to presidential candidates, he was asked whether the US should regard China as a friend or foe.
His reply: "Neither at the moment." He then added that in 20 years' time, the US will be dealing with a different set of leaders.

Lee Kuan Yew is one the top top leaders in Asia. China owes him a lot! His suggestion to Mr. Deng of reform and open China is THE CRITICAL one! Chinese thanks him!

This man is a great inspiration to many economists around the world. My father constantly writes about him and interviewed him as well. One in a million for sure.
His intelligence, and courage to speak the truth in a disarming non hurting way, but to the point is so lovely to watch.

I remember drowsing in front of the TV some years ago when Charlie Rosej began to interview Lee Kuan Yew who I knew very little about at the time. It was quite late but his intelligence woke me up and I turned on the lights and began to listen. I can't agree with all of his positions but he was an extraordinary leader and human being. His eulogy of his wife is one of the most moving expressions of love I have ever heard. He will be missed.

A few years ago while on vacation in Iceland, I met a young lady from Singapore and mentioned that I was had a lot of respect for LKY.She replied "I cried when he died, the whole country cried and it rained all day".In other words the very sky cried.
His greatest legacy is that he set an example for China, he paved the way for China to move forward.

This man was the prime minister of Singapore when Singapore officially left Malaysia and at the same time, Tunku Abdul Rahman also held the position as first prime minister of Malaysia. And for other info he was born in 1923 and died in 2015. Make you realize how long this man has lived. As malaysian i respect him so much, Singapore become what their be today is because of him

I am a 17 year old American and I can say that I will cry when LKY finally departs, but I'm glad he was at least slightly in my time. He's not perfect, I don't agree with all of his ideas, but he doesn't claim to be that which he isn't, which is his monopoly in the world of politics because no other politician can say the same.

Still a long way to go as to education and wiping out corruption-nepotism. We are also a multi racial society. A far larger country than Singapore with a population of 3.8 million. It is a beautiful country. Come and visit. About 10% of our people are Chinese.

Mr Lee Kuan Yew is simply indescribable as a leader.. An erudite Statesman , A Colossus indeed...A succint speaker. Reminds me of the comment in the Holllywood Film "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly". I quote the line spoken by Eli Wallach, " .... if you can shoot, shoot! Don't talk!!...."

The first time , almost 40yrs ago, heard Mr Lee spoke...over TV...in election and matters of the day...and at times to young cohorts students of higher education institutions. It is captivating, humorous, serious , humility , true sense of integrity, of the many of his speeches that I happened to listen on.
On the day ...it was pouring heavy rain , a Caucasian lady fainted in front , people rushed to help her...we were bidding our final goodbye to Mr Lee Kuan Yew..a great and compassionate statesman.
Nobody talks much about LKY's sense of humour but it is hilarious and his timing is perfect.
A man who is humorous is a man who is intelligent. There are no exceptions

A truly amazing man. Many people came to pay respects including my business partners from Japan and India who respect him very much.
The Indian who asked his question truly represents the Indian mindset. It is I who is this that and the other. As if anyone was interested. The response by MM Lee was specific to the issue that bedevils India. No one with talent wants to get into government. No personal sacrifice. The bureaucracy is bloated and inefficient. India will never be a new super power. it is simply experiencing a short window of prosperity. That too will disappear when economic trends change.

His health deteriorated rapidly after the passing of his wife. This much he loved her. Singapore is so blessed to have him with us as our founding father, missed him till this day ❤️🇸🇬
