“What we have to help China understand is that what comes with world leadership is responsibility”. Timeless counsel. Not just for China but for any nation that emerges as a global leader.

History did not start with the founding fathers, but with the founding civilizations. Something America should remember more often.

this was a great priviledge to watch and learn from this six interview. A great man who has left this world has taught me something very valuable to my people in the pacific. As this great father of singapore said it will be the pacific that will hold economy and will eventually match that of Americas economy. What a great inspiration and so simple the wisdom was to comprehend.

I don't know If Charlie Rose is big wherever he is from..but Cant help but think from the video, Charlie rose made a fool out of himself.. Lee Kuan Yew had a good many laughs at his simplistic understanding.

He asked questions to provide answers to unasked questions from people who wouldn't ever ask and never would know. That's what journalists do. Feel better now?

when americans tell China they ought to do this and do that, the chinese at the back of the mind thinks "We have survived 5000 years. Have you?"

Death Sentence. No questions asked. Singapore has zero tolerance with Drugs & Corruption which leads us to the position of a strong and prosper country now. Our police forces can't be bribed, many have tried and got charged instead.

@jiangyz214 All these history and natural disaster were hell for Chinese but it also attributed to their ability such as extremely hardworking, good adaptability and etc... Many may think its an innate ability and it could be true if you apply the evolution theory or survival of the fittest.
All Chinese need now is to have a good government to steer them to success and hopefully it can be extended to as long as possible.

@bfq3000 He would clean their clocks. The problem is that his proposed policy tools (like a mandatory death penalty for trafficking and possession) are political non-starters in the U.S. and almost certainly unconstitutional under current 8th Amendment jurisprudence, which generally bars capital punishment for crimes that did not result in death. See, e.g., Coker v. Georgia and Kennedy v. Louisiana. That's why the United States is forever doomed to half-measures in its 'war on drugs.'
