Thank you so much for paying tribute to Michael Jayston because he wasn't remembered in the baftas,NTA or at the royal variety show.God Bless everyone who died this year x
It's always sad to lose people, but I'm very impressed with this style of presentation when covering bad news. It's calm, thoughtful, respectful, perfectly paced, and handled with marvellous dignity. It's especially nice that there's been no lazy use of a computer-generated narrator's voice. However sophisticated the software engineers claim their latest AI creations are, they simply don't sound real enough. You can tell immediately that they don't CARE about what they're saying. Using one on a video such as this would have been disrespectful and in shockingly bad taste, so full marks to Stuart for keeping the 'human' in 'humanity'. Thank you.
As a fellow Barrowvian Dave Day was a great day of remembrance and fun. Thousands of bikers from all over the country converged and enjoyed events and music throughout the day. I met him a few times, lovely man. RIP Dave Myers.
I left the UK in 1982 for the US, so I don’t remember a lot of these actors growing up. The two that stick in my mind are Ian Lavender and Nicholas Ball since I watched their. I’ve also forgotten just how old a lot of the stars I remember from UK tv are since I haven’t seen them for so long. An expat in Florida.
They are all irreplaceable Stu but inevitable as it was, losing Ian Lavender hurt especially knowing he was the very last Dads Army actor. Dave Myers passing was a real punch to the the stomach. A genuine nice man who was the same off-screen as he was on. That tribute to him from Si and the 45000 bikes plus the thousands who lined the route just go to prove the fact. It hit me as well being a former biker. Still time for more. Unfortunately, the clock hasn't struck midnight and we've just lost Johnny Walker. 😢
The death of Dave Myers hit me the most too. As you say, a genuinely nice man who was the same off camera as on. The Dave Day tribute ride was truly astonishing.
Naturally there are many of these roundups at this time of year, this is by far the best I’ve come across. Beautifully written and lovingly narrated. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the video...we've lost some great stars. Just a note that I think it is Deborah Kerr in the photo with Robert Mitchum (The Sundowners) and not Glynis Johns.
Many an hour spent on the roads listening to Steve Wright followed by Johnnie so to hear of Johnnie passing away is a blow. That's going to be one heck of a party up there tonight with those two spinning the tunes.
I recognised Adrian Schiller from his role as Pasha Verdinikov in "Death in Paradise". I was grieved when our Pikey passed last year. Ian Lavender was comic gold.
So many stars we lost in 2024, and you only did the first half of the year so far! I'm a bit gobsmacked tbh, I didn't know that most of them had died. I knew about Ian Lavender, Steve Wright and Dave, the Hairy Biker guy. But Christian Rodska? I used to love him in Follyfoot, he was also in an episode of "In Loving Memory" as a randy window-cleaner. Also never knew about Tony Green, Georgina Hale, and Michael Culver. He was a really good actor, some very good performances, he will be missed, as will Michael Jayston. Such calibre those old-school actors had, thanks for this Stu, enjoyed it.
Hi Carole. You know it's been a bad year for losing stars when the video has to be made in two parts! So many great character actors this year that maybe didn't as always get the credit they deserved.
Thank you for a lovely tribute to many actors & performers across the arts. If I could, I'd like to add the starring role of Will "The Wolfman" in the wonderful film Restless Natives to the tribute of Vincent Friell.
This channel is one of those rare gems one seldom finds on YT. Well-made, respectful, and I especially love that you cover the oft-forgotten character actors. Consider me subscribed! And wishing you a Happy New Year!
Great video Stu. Always sad to remember those great actors&actresses whom we have lost. I thank them all for the great performances and memories they have given us. A few in there that I hadn’t heard about😢. On a lighter note, best wishes to you for 2025 and thanks for your great videos.
Whilst it's shocking the amount of people we've lost this year, I'd just like to point out that Into the labyrinth was actually an HTV production & never appeared on the bbc. I loved the series when I was little & it even gave me niggtmares, Steve Wright's passing was one of those rare announcements that actually upset me.
Well done Stu. This was a really lovely tribute. There was a few in there I had not heard had passed 😢. Many thanks for all your videos and Happy New Year 🏴🏴🏴
I think I mentioned in a previous upload of yours regarding those that we lost in previous years, but as I can't stomach anything on TV or radio, I just don't get the latest tragedies unless I catch someone like you who announces those we lost. I'm genuinely shocked at seeing more of those familiar faces of TV and films that I grew up with, no longer here. Georgina Hale was a particular kick in the groin as I fairly often view episodes of Budgie with Adam Faith. Georgina played Budgies wife and was an absolute magnet for top notch acting. No disrespect to those parting and their relatives but noticing all these performers dropping like flies brings it home even more that I'm actually getting old now. All those I really admire are older than me so what happens when literally none are around when I've one foot in the grave, so to speak.🤔
Yes, it does pull at the heart-strings when you realise these familiar faces are no longer here. I always thought Nicholas Ball deserved a better career after Hazell. I remembered Georgina Hale in a few of the Ken Russell films I've seen.
I often think the same. As we get older, so obviously do the people we admire. Every year there seems less and less of them around but at least we can continue to enjoy them on our screens.
I always remember Adrian Schiller for a very effective drink driving advert, where he spoke directly to the camera and played various parts in the unfolding tragedy.
Michael Jayston should be remembered for his portrayal of Peter Guillam in the 70's TV adaptation of Tinker, Tailor. I also remember him in the title role of Quiller.
I'll admit, most of these I didn't know. I thought John Savidant had died years ago to be honest. Mum's a Corrie fan so I remember him well! Ian Lavender will be sadly missed, as will Dave Myers. But the two I'll miss the most, and whose death's affected me personally, are William Russell and Michael Jayston. Being the Whovian I am I was very active on the convention circuit between 1996 and the mid 2000's and was lucky enough to meet both of these wonderful actors! As you'd expect, they were both lovely men, always had time for a chat, always kind to their fans. I like to think that all the previous DW actors who've passed have regenerated somewhere! It's not so far-fetched, we've all been something else in this planet's 4.3 billion year history afterall! Happy New Year Stu!
OH MY I didn’t know Georgina had died🙏🙏🙏 Also Christian Rodska 🙏🙏🙏 his face was always familiar to me but not his name Jeanette Charles also did not know she had died 🙏🙏🙏 Nicholas Ball Did not know must have missed the news that time 🙏🙏🙏🙏 watched him in Hazell All the people I grew up watching on TV ❤️❤️
John Savident - as we don’t get Coronation Street here in Australia (well not on free to air) I’ll always remember him as Jumbo and the scene with the Minister and Sir Humphrey crammed in to a sleeper compartment discussing a foreign dignitary.
Glynis Johns was absolutely amazing in Mary Poppins and Vault of Horror. I liked Ian Lavender in Dad's Army and as Derek I EastEnders. I remember Steve Wright on the radio, TOTP and as one of the contestants on a Christmas special of Bullseye. I loved Robin on Strictly Come Dancing, especially Lisa Riley. Ewan McIntosh was so good in independent comedy horror Shed of the Dead. John Savident was brilliant as Fred Elliott in Coronation Street. I remember Mr. Bennett in Hart Beat when I was younger. I liked the Hairy Bikers. Si and Dave were so good. I miss Dave. Bullseye was a favourite of mine as a little girl and I loved Tony and Jim. Bernard Hill was great alongside Pauline Collins in Shirley Valentine. Supergran was hilarious and I loved it when I was a kid. Jeanette Charles was such a good sport in The Naked Gun and Austin Powers.
Georgina Hale was in a very good docu/film about Ruth Ellis. Equally good but different actress was Dance with a Stranger. Both free on RUclips I think.
Yt is very picky these days. I doubt if the channel uploader has anything to do with it. Any joke, or pun, related to the period of ridiculous measures, say '20 to '22, is not allowed. 😂
What a lovely tribute to those who have sadly passed in 2024. Thank you.
Many thanks.
Thank you so much for paying tribute to Michael Jayston because he wasn't remembered in the baftas,NTA or at the royal variety show.God Bless everyone who died this year x
A great voice.
Such a shame that he wasn't mentioned in those tributes. A fine actor.
One of the greats should have been remembered RIP
I enjoyed Michael's understated but intense portrayal of 'Quiller' in the TV spy series, too.
It's always sad to lose people, but I'm very impressed with this style of presentation when covering bad news. It's calm, thoughtful, respectful, perfectly paced, and handled with marvellous dignity.

That's wonderful to hear.
Ian Lavender will be lovingly remembered as Private Pike, in Dad's Army. He was a great actor. Thank you for the joy you gave to all of us.
Absolutely.

Steve Wright, that one hit me, RIP
Yeh, that was a total shock. Can't believe he is not still about.
Thanks for the video...we've lost some great stars. Just a note that I think it is Deborah Kerr in the photo with Robert Mitchum (The Sundowners) and not Glynis Johns.
Lovely video Stu, and only today the sad passing of DJ Johnnie Walker,All the Best For 2025
Many an hour spent on the roads listening to Steve Wright followed by Johnnie so to hear of Johnnie passing away is a blow. That's going to be one heck of a party up there tonight with those two spinning the tunes.
@@glenjones6980 And Annie Nightingale spinning some with them too no doubt.
Thanks Steve. Hope you have a fantastic New Year.
I recognised Adrian Schiller from his role as Pasha Verdinikov in "Death in Paradise". I was grieved when our Pikey passed last year. Ian Lavender was comic gold.
Thank you .
Thank you for this reminder of the talented people we have lost 2024 not just the big stars but also those who just loved doing what they did.
A lot of talent lost there, id like to thank them all for their service. ♥️.
Absolutely.
Thank you for taking the time to do this. It really is an excellent production.
That's great to hear. Thank you so much.

Nicolas Ball was also in Red Dwarf of all things.Excellent versatile and charismatic actor.
So much talent will be sorely missed

Oh dear! We lost some diamonds this year didn't we! What worries me even more though, is that a lot of them were younger than me!
Great video Stu. Always sad to remember those great actors&actresses whom we have lost. I thank them all for the great performances and memories they have given us. A few in there that I hadn’t heard about😢.

Many thanks.
Well done Stu. This was a really lovely tribute. There was a few in there I had not heard had passed 😢. Many thanks for all your videos and Happy New Year 🏴🏴🏴
Thanks so much Andrea. Happy New Year to you!

More videos or more celebrities dying? 😂
Thanks John! Happy New Year to you. 👍
That wasn’t Glynis sitting next to Mitchum, it was Deborah Kerr in the Sundowners
Absolutely. My mistake.
Pat Heywood gone and Olivia Hussey just died the other day from the best Romeo and Juliet film ever.
I always remember Adrian Schiller for a very effective drink driving advert, where he spoke directly to the camera and played various parts in the unfolding tragedy.
The Melancholy side of New Years Eve
Vincent Friel was most famous for his starring role in the 80s cult classic restless natives....Great film worthy of its status
With Bernard Hill as his father.
@hogwashmcturnip8930 Nice one i forgot that fact...."initiative"....
They will be missed ❤
Michael Jayston should be remembered for his portrayal of Peter Guillam in the 70's TV adaptation of Tinker, Tailor. I also remember him in the title role of Quiller.
He was also in "Cromwell" with Richard Harris in the title role.
I didn't know super gran died I loved that show when I was a child

Great to hear that you managed to meet them both and that they were really nice. Happy New Year to you!
Vincent Friel was probably most famous for his lead role in Restless Natives, in which Bernard Hill played his father.
Both sadly missed.
Came here to mention that! One of my favourite films and very underrated. With a soundtrack by Big Country
looking fwd to when part 2 pops up.

I only really knew Georgina Hale as the second T-bag in the Thames children's series.
She was also in the itv sitcom Surgical spirit.
John Savident - as we don’t get Coronation Street here in Australia (well not on free to air) I’ll always remember him as Jumbo and the scene with the Minister and Sir Humphrey crammed in to a sleeper compartment discussing a foreign dignitary.
Oh yes, a classic little scene that!
The guy on the bottom left of the thumbnail, i thought that was Steven segal for a second , until i had a closer look 😂
Happy new year darling ❤
Hope you have a great 2025!

A true legend. I'll be including him in a tribute video to Hollywood stars who sadly passed away this year.

Georgina Hale was in a very good docu/film about Ruth Ellis. Equally good but different actress was Dance with a Stranger. Both free on RUclips I think.
By the way your background music is driving me mad It has sounds that are identical to my phone 😮xx
The Sundowners photo is showing Robert Mitchum with Deborah Kerr , not GJ .
Indeed. My mistake.
Let us add Johnnie Walker, a great radio DJ for most of his adult life.
He will be deservedly featured in part two.
Is the music a version of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord.”?
I don't believe it is supposed to be but there is some similarity.
😎👍👍👍😍😍😍
Dame Maggie Smith died in September this year.
Indeed. Dame Maggie will feature in part two.
Throwing in Johnnie Walker, so close to making it into 2025
Absolutely. He will be featured in part two.
Timothy West passed away in November 2024 - what room are you in ?
As stated at the beginning of the video and in the title, this video is part one covering January to June. Obviously you didn't notice.
That was a photo of Deborah Kerr in the sundowners but yes Glynis johns was in that film 🙄
Yes, my mistake.
You forgot to put their names on screen at the beginning and the end.
Everybody's name is displayed when they are first featured.
When stars were famous as stars on tv and film with talent and not just u tube wannabees famous for being famous taking youngsters money
Another tragic death of late? Free speech. Just had a ‘joke’ removed from the comments. Cheers!
