RIP Ray Reardon, I am 64 years old in Australia. Loved watching Ray on TV competing in Pot Black when I was growing up in the 1970s. A lot more of my boyhood heroes passing away lately in UK and here in Australia also.
And the Winfield masters in Australia
Lots of my childhood heroes have passed away without me knowing. Thank you for that wonderful post. They might be gone but will never be forgotten.
You already forgot them, Otherwise you would have known they died!
@ buck off you simpleton
Was looking for a mention of my uncle, John McClelland Footballer born 1935 who died in June, and played for Manchester City, Lincon City, QPR, and Portsmouth.
So sorry for your loss. RIP John xx
@@carla4229 RIP John 🥰

Thankyou for this remembering those sports men and women who died this year , a great memorial to them .
Met Leighton James whilst on holiday in Menorca, he had just found out he was going to Derby County, what a player. He was so humble. RIP Leighton and all the others on the video❤
I got his autograph when he played for Burnley I still have it
His first game for Derby County after his transfer was against QPR. RIP
I left UK in 2005. Im 58 and remember a lot of ppl on here. RIP
Thank you so much for putting this list together. It gives me the time to reflect on those who are no longer with us this year 🙏🙏
RIP Rob Burrow. Superb rugby league player. Taken so young. Bless you and your family. And Kevin.🖤
Kev will have been in long ago.
Thks for just playing the clip without annoying commentary
Agree. A true sign of respect
RIP all, in particular Wolves goalie Paul Bradshaw, who died aged just 67 a few months ago. I didn't know that until I watched this video. I remember him well playing for Wolves in the late 70, early 80s when I used to have a season ticket with my Dad and brother. To this day, I still recall (more or less) most of the line-up: Paul Bradshaw, Geoff Palmer, Derek Parkin, Peter Daniel, Emlyn Hughes, Kenny Hibbitt, George Berry, John Richards, Andy Gray.
What a team we were back then Rob RIP Paul Bradshaw🙏🏻
The best number 15 and number 10 the world has ever seen from Wales and The Lions. JPR and Barry. Thank you for my youth, guys.
I was football mad as a child, i remember watching some of these players on MOTD, Mel Blyth,Tommy Cassidy, Viv Busby,Stan Bowles, Leighton James, Paul Bradshaw, Larry Lloyd and Gary Shaw.
Its sad many of these people pass away and you don't realise.
Rest in eternal peace gentlemen.
You forgot the best of the lot
Stan the man Bowles 😎👍
I do apologise.you did mention him.I didn’t see it somehow
What a player eh
I’m 63 and grew up watching that lot also 👍😎😎

👍
Yes Stan Bowles was the next great after George Best. Also the greatest outhalf and fulback in Rugby Barry John& JPR Williams from the greatest Rugby team ever assembled and I’m an Irishman. RIP all gave us great memories.
Very interesting to watch. RIP to all
Very respectfully and nicely done.
There was a heck of a lot of football players on here. RIP to all ❤
So many names i remember from childhood. Names that i looked up too and enjoyed watching. Names that i didnt know had died. Some taken from us before there prime. So very sad. May they R.I.P

Sad time for all when loss of people. But will always will be remembered by us all never forgotten. Rest in peace everyone that's going through loss Bless you all.
Fantastic video 😊
Even though he wasn't on there as a man city fan. I remember him really great player god bless him
Even great talents leave us at some point, entertaining, interesting and sad ... 🙏 🙏
They are all human..Respect!!!!
Sad to see about the passing of Geoff Capes. Several British ex-pats here in the US said I did resemble him to a degree...
as a 70s kid watching a lot of sports i also remember a lot of these persons growing up watching WORLD OF SPORT the likes of the great welsh rugby team and speedway specially the *john louis rip peter collins and ray wilsons* so sad RIP all you superstars👌
What a great tribute video
Graham Thorpe...omg...never knew..RIP mate and to all others..❤❤
RIP all and thank you for the joy that you gave us.
Four big Welsh 🏴 legends passed, two from Rugby (JPR & Barry John) & two from snooker (Ray Reardon & Terry Griffiths). Let’s not forget Leighton James either. Still upset about Graham Thorpe too. RIP to all on the list
JPR and Barry, absolute legends in the world of Rugby, all the best from Scotland James.
jpr was a very talented athlete and besides rugby was a great tennis player. above all, he was a gentleman. God bless.
RIP , some young people in there , heartbreaking
One missed, Clive Everton, pro snooker player and snooker commentator in the 1980/90s, died 27th September 2024 aged 87 from Parkinson's disease
Foul and a missed.
so sad to see how many died much too young. rip
I left the UK in 1983, so I don’t know everyone shown. I do remember a lot of the footballers and snooker players since I grew up watching them. So sad that many of them succumbed to cancer and other diseases. At least they made a mark on the world while they were here. An expat in Florida.
Ray Reardon and Terry Griffiths, both Welsh and played together. I remember many of those footballers too. Spare a thought for those who died far too young, like the athlete born in 1996, the same age as my son.
So many greats, incredible
BIG Geoff, loved his budgies😍God Bless You❤
RIP Tommy Banks.
Alty legend and was the last of the England squad that played at the 1958 World Cup. Banks shared a pitch with Pele.
SO MANY FROM CANCER , VERY YOUNG & RELATIVELY YOUNG, RIP,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I remember well John hurst and jimmy husband from the 1970 Everton league champions team plus JPR Williams and Barry John from the great Welsh rugby team
Terry Griffiths always looked so young.
Stan Bowles, what a dribbler.
So sad 😢 RIP to all those we sadly lost in 2024
What about Derek Underwood? One of the greatest slow left arm bowlers of all time, a true gentleman.
Should be in that list for sure!!
i agree, i used to love watching 'deadly derek' playing for england when i was a kid in the 70's
Just remember how lucky they were doing a job they loved .
RIP to all those sportsmen, deepest condolences to all their families. So many of them I remember, it puts life in perspective, some so young.
Very upsetting will miss them all❤❤❤
A sad year for both Welsh rugby and Welsh snooker....
Saw geoff capes back in the late 70s or early 90s...been hooked on WSM ever since....death comes to us all but sad when your childhood heroes go...makes you realise life is short...lot of good old boys on here born before WW2 ....healthier diet, genetics or just luck ??
There is no mention of Ron Yeats or Peter Cormack.
George Baldock died aged 31 just 2 days before his son’s first birthday..😢😢😢. RIP Starman.
Ever pondered why💉....?
@ he drowned in a swimming accident you ghoul
So so sad when you lose someone. I’ve walked in those shoes it’s not very nice. They say time is a great healer they lie it’s not. 😢😢😢
He knew Geoff Capes when I was in the RAF at COSFOD..
He came to COSFOD two or three times a week to train in the gym.
He parked his car were ever wanted ( on the grass , no parking area ...whatever ) as no one had to the bottle to tell him not to.
He was a really big guy..🤯💪🏋♂️🏋
Rest in peace amen to all ❤
Having already watched the football video, the only way I could watch that was at double speed.
Didn't see Charlie Hurley. Millwall, Sunderland, and Republic of Ireland. April 22, 2024.
Sunderlands player of the century.
A lot of well known faces, but so many dying in there 70s,wich I’m only three years away from 70th scary really ❤
Beautifly done knew or heard of most of them ,surprised how many had passed ,and not heard about. RIP
Rest in peace a men 🙏 to all
The ads really kill the music you have and the ambience of the video. But thanks for the work you put in the video
All great sports men and women RIP.
Great collation there, thankyou for posting, you missed Ron Yeats, former captain of Liverpool during the bill shankly era.
Rip 😢
One missing from this list is my great Uncle Jeff Whitefoot, a great footballer who was one of the original Busby Babes at Man United and won the FA cup with Nottingham Forest, he died 2nd July 2024 at the age of 90.
He was the last surviving Babe.
Scary how so many died either young or with cancer 😢
We know why.
Censored if we mention.
@DELx999 100%, and millions worldwide.
You forgot Derek Underwood,Kent and England cricketer.
Everyone looks so young and in good health, age and illness takes it toll on even the fittest,
They must have some great teams up there.
I had not known that Peter Procter had passed away. I wondered for several years what had become of him. The photograph you have included shows little trace of the absolutely horrific burns he suffered and which led another driver, Les Leston, to campaign for greater safety in motor sport. Many drivers have avoided the burns that Peter Procter went through. Also - Rupert Keegan: British motor sport has produced some very talented drivers indeed.
I built a few houses for Peter and his sons ( they were house developers) I was bricklaying for them , he was a gentleman and he could do a donought in his m5 when he came on site they reckon , charming fellow who achieved a lot but stayed ever so humble
@@andrewlongbottom5621 Andrew - thank you so much for the update. It was a miracle that Peter survived the crash. They bring up them up tough in Yorkshire.
There has never been, and will never be, a finer human being than Rob Burrow. If you don't believe me look in Wikipedia. His courage made his exceptional status in Rugby League pale in comparison. I admit my interest in his sport went from occasional to serious while Rob and his exceptional friend and colleague Kevin Sinfield devoted themselves to heightening awareness of the disease from which Rob finally died. That interest has not waned and will not wane.
Lest we forget.
Bless them all ! R I P
What about George Eastham. Stoke and England. Passed in December 2024
Hadn't even heard Terry Griffiths had died. Think Burrow, Thorpe and Shaw are very tragic deaths for different reasons.
Some old timers JPR & Barry John, Ray Reardon & Terry Griffiths & some sad young 'uns, one suicide after sport finished with him & it hit hards.
I wonder if you’re Welsh?
Most had a good innings.Circle of life.Jazz up the music.
Didn't know Rob Burrow had passed away 😥
I used to watch Stan Bowels at Shepherds Bush. In fact it was the main reason to go there.
Some real tragedies here and many lived to a ripe old age
You should have mentioned Trevor Whymark.
Clearly a good year for the ladies.
Everyone has a number, everyone has an individual journey.
So many young lads and why I wonder ?
Former snooker player mark wildman is also missing from this list.
Johnny Cooke. I used to have a pint with him in “Whitty’s” (the Clarence) on canal st in bootle when Mary knowles was the manageress, about 36 years ago. He was a lovely man. And Mary was a lovely lady. Great times. ❤
RIP to all sports personnel of British sports. YNWL
No matter what age of death . They all belong to loveones
I remember G C was a sergeant at Scunthorpe when i was little. My mother was stopped and searched because she was carrying her filleting knife on her way to Findus factory in Grimsby and she recognised him as the one that did it
gone to a better place lads
You didn’t mention Chris Nicholl played for Grimsby Town or managed Southampton. You haven’t mentioned that Craig Shakespeare played for Grimsby Town.
5:10 he's there 😢
13.20 Shakespeare
Also a great stint at Leicester City as assistant manager and caretaker manager , didn't know he'd past 😔
Look again.
John Louis 1948-2024...82 years, my maths equates aged 76 years
Sad
Leighton.james..didn't.no.about.leighton.one.of.my.heroes.although.not.a.burnley.fan.and.ian.mellor.cits.fan..rip.to.everybody.now.a.lot.of.soccer.players.watched.them.in 70s.very.sad.respect.from.the.emerald.isle.
a lot died in winter
According to the dates you put he was 76 years old or thereabouts. You are also showing he passed aged 82 y o- which is correct?
Sorry to see no Trevor Whymark
So sad
how depressing
why the need to mention all of the clubs played by every soccer player, but not for the rugby players.....!!!!
Didn't Trevor Francis die this year too?
no he died in the summer of 2023
Over half of the sports stars who died (48/85) last year were footballers! Make your own comment.
