      Monday morning here in Townsville Australia, I agree it’s such a calming paced vid, life as it goes setting up the property, one day at a time. Just a thought from my experience, those nickel plated screws don’t seem to last outdoors, they rust just a bit slower than the shiny screws. They rust and that eats into that preprinted tin. Try to paint the heads or better still replace with galvanized teks screws at some time. Attaching the washers is tedious, thankfully the kids love to help you, it’s great. Thanks for sharing your days with us.

    Natalie's idea of using the hot glue gun to attach the screens to the vents was great. Using silicone on all of the joints will keep all of the critters out of the shed. It will be so nice to vacate your rental unit and move everything to the shed to save money. It is fun to see your kids involved in the shed project. Blessings to all of you.

    Dear Bolder life off grid family.
    I once owned 2 similar sheds. Therefore I highly recommend that you insulate but at least cover the metal roof from the outside. Otherwise a lot of condensation water will drip on your belongings! This caused a lot of rust and unhealthy mold on my stored items.
    Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.

    As low as the roof is you need to build a knee wall about a foot or so high around the perimeter of the platform to raise the shed and give you some head room! Nice Job!

    • @paulvanhouts3365
      @paulvanhouts3365 4 месяца назад

      Nice idea but the door will need extending to cover the gap at the bottom. The low knee wall at the bottom of the door would be a perfect pain if left there. Also you if that bottom rail was cut it would alter the planned integrity of that structure and would need a good work around. It would be worth doing though.

    Nice easy shed build i wish i would of known about the Patowell sheds, the one i bought was a bear to put up the instructions were bad no numbered parts and it came on a pallet in one box was missing some of the screws and cables and anchors ( for high winds we have here during summer and fall ) had to call them back and have them send me what was missing and didn't receive the those items for 4 to 5 days.
    I'm glad your video came out if i need to buy another one I'll get the Patowell thanks and enjoy your new shed. Larry

    Those types of units, I've never seen any of them that are, let's say, 40+ years old in a person's back yard. Not intact, anyway. And hey, that's all good, maybe 10-20 years is what you want out of it. Just not forever. Also, hot glue might have a lifespan of 2 years, plus or minus. In the future, consider epoxy.

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  4 месяца назад +1

      The reason I think our setup is good is we catch more sun earlier in the morning and more sun later in the evening. It actually catches a little less sun than if all our panels were facing south. But the problem with South facing panels is that you get most of your power in the middle of the day. In the middle of the day, we are running fewer things, the batteries are topped off, and all that extra power goes nowhere. The peak in power that you would get with south facing is spread out a little more with our setup. So the main takeaway here is we could get slightly more power coming in with south facing but not actually keep it all or, as our setup is now, we start charging our batteries a little earlier and that continues on a little further into the later part of the day. In reality, the difference is small, but this is the way to go for us. Thanks 🙂
