The Cayenne is simply too much weight, too high up (probably excepting the Turbo GT somehow - dying to drive one myself). The thing with Porsches, is that every one of them, feels more like a Porsche than a car of its category. The Taycan feels more like a Porsche than an EV, the Panamera feels more like a Porsche than a luxury saloon, and the Macan feels more like a Porsche than a compact sports SUV. There’s a certain element of feedback that you expect with Porsches, but with the Cayenne (especially with the horrible 3.0 in the base), it just isn’t there imo. Fantastic car, but I do believe it’s just over the line of being a fantastic Porsche - whereas the Macan (especially with the newer version of the 2.0, or the 2.9s), feels almost like Porsche’s take on a hot hatchback. It’s no GT3 in disguise as some GTS owners like to claim, but it’s still an amazing experience to drive.

Had to sell my 930 after 32 years because Porsche used to be 'Racing and Winning' but now is 'Soccer Moms and Suits'. Dime a dozen. Does anyone even notice a Porsche anymore? I have seen my Lotus in the wild once. Plus is far more fun to drive and easy to maintain.
I’m from a place in NY that’s small towns and farming mostly, I see a Porsche almost every time I leave the house. The market is so saturated even rich hicks have them now lol.

Seemed like a great opportunity to put a Flachbau on it (matching was not a thing back then) with the insurance money. I was told the pop up headlights would have to come from an RX-7 so that killed the idea. I had upgraded to the autobahn H4 headlights.
None of these people have any clue about Porsche or the Auto industry in large. Small 5-seat SUV will be the best selling model in almost every single brand. And the only reason it's not the best-selling model in that brand is they probably that they don't offer it, yet.

Hard disagree, but fair opinion. Driven a Gen 3 Macan S for a bit over a year now, and just recently took delivery of a 992 C4S. The Macan (especially with the latest gen version of the 2.0, and the 2.9s) feels more like a Porsche than a compact sports SUV, in the same way that a Taycan feels more like a Porsche than an EV. There’s just a level of feedback that you don’t get from others in their respective classes. It’s harder to make a case for the Cayenne, given how much gravity works against it, and how much I hated the 3.0 in the base when I tried it - but it’s still a great car. Might not drive like stink (probably except the Turbo GT - really want to drive one at some point), but drives by far the best in its class as well.
The biggest issue with all those Macans out there is when the transmission inevitably fails, like they really drop like flies, all of them with the same issue, transmission, because it’s a rebadged Audi transmission sold as PDK, when it’s not even a PDK, just a DSG from Audi.

Eh but it's tiny inside. We owned the 2016 Macan and traded for the Cayenne and dude it feels a tad bit more roomy
