Hydrostatic is the only way to go. About 20 years ago I replaced my cab less 4020 JD with a 1977 Versatile V150 hydrostatic bidirectional tractor. By rotating the seat and steering either end of the tractor can be the front end. When I bought it, I was told it was to small to run an 8 foot snowblower, fortunately nobody told the tractor. It is amazing what it can blow through. Thanks to the hydro you can slow down to an imperceptible crawl. Not only do I clean my farm yard I also clean a mile of township road. Thanks to the snowblower I have no ridges or piles along the sides of the road to catch more snow. It makes snow removal fun, at least for the first couple of storms.
Good work as usual guys. From your first explanation of the roof rake, I didn’t get the role that the tarp played. When I saw it in action at the end, it became apparent how useful the tarp really is. Now that there’s cool! Always something new and useful from the Squatch team. 😎👍👏
I only have a little 2305 Johndeere for ploughing snow. It came with a 4 foot bucket and i upgraded to a 5 foot for snow removal, and it's surprising how much faster that 1 food of extra width made removing snow. Nice video Squatch and Sr.
You guys have had a bit more snow than us here in the [far] northern suburbs... BUT, I have had to use the M to push snow back from the edges of the drive already. A little early for that, even here. This mild weather sure is good for working outside, though. Let's hope we stay above ZERO for a little while yet. I can deal without being -20 or -30. Hoping to make a little progress on the H this weekend at the cousin's shop cleaning parts in the steam cabinet and parts washer! Speaking of unfrozen ground - I scraped up some areas that still had DARK green grass (as if it was still growing)! I was REALLY surprised to see that! The amenities on the Kubota are nice. BUT, the beautiful sound, story, and Americana of the Super M... Pretty tough to beat that!
Now you know why I live in Arizona!!! Man, I flippen hate snow, and shoveling sidewalks and driveways. When I was younger and working as a farm hand, I'd get up 3 am in the morning shovel out my drive, go to work, do the chores, help the boss clean out the drive so the milk truck could get in and out. Finish cleaning around the barns and outbuildings. Go home that night, get up the next morning and do it all over again. I got so tired of shoving snow!!!! Great video Squatch.....
Haven't had enough snow to need the Minnesnota beast but I really want one for when we do! Pulling snow off a roof ALWAYS splits my snow rake in two. I never know for sure if it'll reattach, it has so far. It's not too fun swinging it up to near the top of the roof to start off either! It does look fun Squatch253! Wonder if it was around in 1980 for the continuous snow that Buffalo NY got. I remember news clips about them getting snow off of overloaded roofs.
I know it sucks when it comes down constantly like that, but I will admit I am a little jealous. Here in SE Michigan we have been warm and hardly any snow. That means no snowmobiling, hockey tournament, ice fishing, etc. Not to mention no side money plowing. Always something to complain about I guess. Lol.
it would be great to have one of those hydraulic cardboard box compactors to make up big blocks of tightly compacted snow.. so you can move and stack them elsewhere. make up a winter maze out in a field and charge to go thru it.. create seating out of ice blocks you have made..
Some folks could say that you are collecting water, for the garden for the summer!! Still, other could suggest some form of summer air conditioning system, that circulates some form of coolant through the snow pile! Kind of like a deep earth thermal system, maybe. Could help for a little while, anyways! How easy is it to push snow into the pond? Maybe a few watering troughs, for livestock, could help store the water until use!! How about building a freezer unit, to help store meat, like deer, turkey, roadkill, and the grocery store, with no electricity needed! You could eat out of it all spring, and maybe some of the summer, if you insulate it, and pile snow deep enough! Instead of an outhouse, make a meat house!! Just more insulated, and no seat!!
I really like that Hydrostatic transmission in my Kioti too, it's especially good when blowing the snow away with the rear mounted blower. Blowing the snow really reduces the height of the 'snow mountains' too. That roof rake system works like a charm, doesn't it. I haven't seen these before,..pretty smart idea!
Beats a piece of plywood nailed to a1x. That was our snow shovel when I was a kid. One winter we were able to climb onto roofs of a story and half up. This was near Vancouver BC, rain instead of snow usually. When the rains came, they always did, the snow would act like sponge and the weight would damage the roof framing. Rafters instead of trusses in those days.
Yall getting all our snow. We have only had one snow this year so far and it was like 2 inches. We normally get about a foot over the winter but not looking like it will happen this year. It has been warm enough its mostly all been rain.
After 70 years of life there's no fun left dealing with snow Born and lived in east central Illinois all my life drove all over the eastern 2/3 of us and Canada I have seen way to much snow but I'm sure I will see more as I hopefully have some years left on GODS green earth 🌏 Senior my love that hydrostatic transmission but please don't give up on that old iron they will still be going long after that Kabota is scrap iron
Here in Northwest Indiana we haven’t even had any “Lake Effect” snow. There’s just enough to cover the grass. I put a plow on my truck after Thanks Giving and haven’t used it yet. I should of put a big squeegee on it.LOL
And here I was thinking I needed to mow some of the green grass showing in here. But in west Tn, snow is almost never seen. 50 degrees again today and 60's this weekend.
Still waiting for a plowable snow in PA. We got enough to cover the grass then melts every other day it seems. Probably get hammered in February and march perhaps. Was also thinking to myself snow bucket.
@@ron827 I have to agree with you. Snow you can move flood water you have to wait for it to leaves. Two feet up the side of your house with snow is not a big two feet of water is not good.

253, you have a sick sense of humor (no bad feelings here) if you find snow fun. Elect another democrat that has all the answers. Obama was the last one to lie his way in and never keep one promise. I'm 72 and so tired of snow that we never had before here in the valley above anchorage. Even the southeast has snow this year and ice in the straights. It's probably too soft for a dozer there if the ground is ready for early planting

a rear mounted snow blower works really nice on the big mounds of snow. Once you "knock" air out of the snow makes it easier to melt.

need a snow bucket now for the tractor
With the way that snow packs, you should make a bigass igloo and store the Kubota in it till meltweather strikes.
Mud is generally the most north Texas has to contend with in January. The bad thing is it gets like grease.
Where I grew up the roof pitches 6/12 snow slid off by it's self, that's why since 1982 I call Texas home.
Suggest a bolt on cutting edge for the bucket
Snow and more snow. Perty cool tool for roof's . Thanks for sharing
We're gettin rain by the bucketfuls over here in Scotland glad it's not snow🙄 that is a fantastic device for the roofs💪💪 great video 👍
Glad we don’t have that problem in Alabama 🙂
Unfortunately this time of year, mother nature gets to dictate what projects you get to work on. Good morning Squatch, we made it to hump day!

I think I just saw a penguin run around back. Watch out for Eskimos carrying harpoons.
That's better than dragging it off the roof and onto your head.
I have an original BX23 with the hydrostatic... once you work with it, a manual and clutch seems like 17th century crude.

About the isolation effekt of the snow, why not shovel snow upp against the outside wall to get more isolation.

Dec 1, 2019 thru Jan. 29, 2020 Columbus Ohio has had a grand total of 2 inches of snow. That's the truth.

You must have gotten our now. Here in Okc, I haven't seen any yet.

The only thing that will be in there favor is if the ground is thawed out.
Slow, slow thaw this spring. That's the only thing that will moderate the flood.

I use the Avalanche snow removal system. Also an awesome time saver

Why Can't you use the dozer to clean up the snow ??
A two stage snow thower may be more effective that the kubota on snow
Yeah, but not much use for a two-stage snow thrower in spring, summer, or fall.
