    Hey guys thank you so much for watching the video and sharing your thoughts it means a lot to me. I will be covering more World football topics in the future as a result. Your support means everything.
    Finally regarding what was said I still stand by it and 2 things to touch upon. The first being the idea that new teams are getting better and that isn't true. Teams such as Jamaica, Panama, and Costa Rica have been doing well for many years that's not new. Jamaica are 2 time Gold cup finalist, Panama are 3 time Gold Cup finalist, and Costa Rica are 3 time CONCACAF champions. Teams doing well aren't the point, what matters is that good teams have a legitimate chance of winning, and the majority of times what happens is that those teams take on the USA, who have home field advantage or Mexico who is basically playing in their 2nd home (USA).
    In football even the smallest of advantages can make the biggest of differences and the United States has been hosting the Gold Cup for over 30 years straight. Them having home field advantages gives them the illusion that they are dominant and when they go into Copa America, World cup qualifying or the World cup it's then that they wake up to reality. Panama or Jamaica might win the ongoing nations league, but even then my point will stand as those teams could have won even more had they had the opportunity to host the big finals which USA has had the privilege's of hosting for over 30 years and counting.
    In terms of results on the World Stage, CONCACAF has only gotten worst from 2014 when Costa Rica got to the Quarter Finals, and USA and Mexico got to the round of 16.

    As an Aussie we had a play off against Honduras for a place at the 2018 WC and i couldn't believe how bad they were for a side that got to that position. Couldn't really play our football in Honduras due to the pitch but the home leg was a cake walk. Asia is much more difficult with the likes of Japan, Sth Korea, Australia and very tricky Middle Eastern teams like the Saudis, Iran etc

      @@Neno_6610 Panama and Jamaica have been doing well since the 1990's. Jamaica has made 2 Gold Cup finals and Panama has made 3. The thing is Home field advantage cannot be understated sometimes even the smallest of advantage can make the biggest of differences in football matches. USA has hosted the Gold cup for over 30 years straight and will continue while US is basically Mexico's 2nd home. For Mexico and USA to improve they need to play outside of their comfort zone and things stand that will not change.

      Bro but Mexican Americans and Mexicans living in the US do care enough to fill the biggest stadiums in the US and rake in the ratings, that's why it won't be moved anywhere else. Gold Cup is a money maker and that's why CONMEBOL is hosting Copa America in the US and making sure the El Tri and USMNT fans send the millions their way.

      What's crazy is that Mexico has never fully hosted a Gold Cup even though they have won it the most. So basically the majority of times that Mexico has won the Gold Cup its them going into US backyard and beating them.

    As a US and Mexican fan, this video makes sense. Lower teams have proven they can beat the US and Mex but considering most of the tournament matches happen in the US, there’s never any true competition as it favors the top 2 nations better. The US for example has a SHITTY away record and its BECAUSE they’re being hand fed wins at home. This might benefit them in the World Cup but regardless, they and Mexico need more experience away from their homes. And the lower nations do need better incentives so they can improve as well.

    Can CONCACAF and COMNEBOL merge into 1 confederation (like in FIBA Americas)?
    Because soon when FIFA World Cup expand to 64, probably in 2050, it would qualify alnost all COMNEBOL nations like 8 to automatic qualify and 2 to play-offs but with 55 CONCACAF nations would make at least on a paper "much harder" to beat and would make both Americas tougher (or at least one).
    CONCACAF now have 6 slots for 2026 so merge with COMNEBOL, which would have in 2030 also 6 slots, will reduce (make harder, difficult, competitive) CONCACAF nations chances to qualify in 2026.
    Take in count, COMNEBOL have 10 nations, CONCACAF only to competitive teams such USA and Mexico, so that is 12/12. But if you take into account 2 play-off great chances for Costa Rica, Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica to qualify.

    • @damaliosportsreport
      @damaliosportsreport  8 месяцев назад +1

      The CONFEDs merging would be great however I think COMNEBOL is satisfied with what they have going. 60 percent of their teams will qualify for the WC if they join CONCACAF it probably would just mean they would play more games against lessor opposition in comparison. Its CONCACAF that's really pushing for it to happen. The thing is CONCACAF could be such a great CONFED if they had a proper long term vision.
      Competitively speaking only Mexico, USA and Costa Rica have consistently performed well on the world stage. The other teams can do well however CONCACAF needs to seriously think about the growth of the CONFED in the long run and not quick cash for that to happen.

    Isn’t Conmebol like that too? Is usually Brazil and Argentina and sometimes Uruguay.

    • @damaliosportsreport
      @damaliosportsreport  8 месяцев назад +5

      Statistically no. 80% of CONMEBOL teams have won the COPA America and every CONMEBOL team has had a chance in the past to host the tournament. On the other hand, the Gold Cup has always been predominantly hosted by the USA.

    • @edbrown4800

      @@damaliosportsreportpast 40 years it’s only been Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil that mainly won it. Colombia first won it in 2001 and only because Argentina and Brazil didn’t bring their A team. Chile won for the first time in like 100 years.

      @damaliosportsreport  8 месяцев назад +2

      @@edbrown4800 A win is a win regardless. The team that shows up is the team of the tournament.
      Their will always be dominant teams what matters is competitiveness. CONMEBOL in general is highly competitive. If only 3 teams have a genuine chance of winning a 10 team tournament that is still high as that is 30 percent.

    • @edbrown4800

    • @damaliosportsreport
      @damaliosportsreport  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@edbrown4800 exactly my point. But CONCACAF prioritizes the money over true development. It all goes back to reference experience. If you have experience winning something (no matter how small) you will start to get ambitious and aim for more. However if you have never won anything then you will just be happy enough to participate.
      People forget that one of the reasons Jamaica, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama are always going hard to try to win the Gold Cup is literally because they have all won championships in the past.
      Costa Rica are 3 time Concacaf champions and 8 time (UNCAF) Copa Centro Americana Champions.
      Honduras are former Concacaf champions and 4 time winners of the (UNCAF) Copa Centro Americana.
      Panama became (UNCAF) Copa Centro Americana champions in 2009 and have also reached the Gold Cup finals on 3 occasions.
      Jamaica were 6 time Caribbean Cup champions and 2 time Concacaf Gold Cup finalist.
      When people think of the Gold Cup they think of USA and Mexico. Had other teams outside of the USA hosted that wouldnt be the case as you would have had different winners by now. But as I stated before CONCACAF prioritizes money over development.

    I always hear the Concacaf is the weakest federation but I think that the Asian federation is the weakest. The only teams that are challenging are Japan, Korea, and Australia. And to be honest from those three only Japan is the strongest since they have a developing team unlike korea or australia that depend on two or three players to carry. Concaf is a little more harder for example we just saw the win honduras had in their home against Mexico. We are also seeing improvement on teams like Panama, Jamaica, Canada, and even Honduras.

      Panama and Jamaica have been doing well from along time. Panama got to the finals of the Goldcup in 2005 and since then have done it 2 more times. The thing is if Panama had the opportunity to contest even one of those finals at home I'm pretty sure they would have won it by now. Home field advantage cannot be understated. Concacaf started to stagnate after the 2014 world cup when Costa Rica got to the Quarter Finals and Mexico and the United States got to the round of 16 as nothing significant has really changed from then.
