That's because music theory is nothing more than a definition of what's being doing all it does is describe what's being done. Rather you know it or not you use it. There's only 12 notes in western music so you're never gonna make up your own chord or scale because it's all been done and it was all done hundreds of years ago
I love how simple you make your instructional videos while still hitting all the small details of mick and Jim’s parts. It took me a while to figure this song out even though it’s considered a simple song…had I have had this video to follow….it would of made learning duality so much easier. Definitely want more instructional videos of SlipKnot songs! Love you Ray! Chronic pain is in my daily mix!
Definitely love this kind of content, I'm definitely as a music theory interested kind of guy. Though when I come up with riffs depending on what I want to write it for I workout the music theory second or as part of writing the first riff if I have half an idea, though I am pretty new to music theory like a year or so into learning it. Would be cool to see a video explaining how you separate out the guitar parts from a song if it doesn't stand out in the mix so much and the two different guitar parts of a song if the band has two guitarists like Slipknot.
Thank you for making this video, I learned a lot. Been a Slipknot fan since their self-titled. Duality has definitely become one of my favorites and this really helped me learn the song on guitar. I'm also learning Before I Forget
Ray your always the bomb man you inspire me to play guitar and the fact we love the same type of music is just awesome, love your positive go to attitude man! Never stop doing what you love 🤘
Hi Ray , i was thinking that you should do a music theory video about Wes Borland playing and technics he use like the whammy bar abuse, his delays for cleans and stuff like that, that would be dope
I need more of these. Staying with slipknot Eyeless, before I forget & devil in I Would be good to dissect. Chop suey/ ariels would be a good to see and master of puppets/ one by Metallica would be cool Sick pitch harmonics man. Gnarly 🤘
i dont really like this song but i love breaking it down and getting into the theory element of slipknot. could you do a music theory video on something off iowa?
Love the educational stuff, man. Hope to see more of this if there's interest in it and you enjoy doing it!
Hey thanks for hanging!
@@xanderraymondcharles you won! 😂
Jim always said " I don't know music theory I just play what sounds good " and it always seems to work
Didn't Paul write this one?
@@TheTillhammer Yeah, I think I heard somewhere that both Paul and Joey came up with that song.
