This guy is the best! I went through dozens of videos to learn how to install a floor. Once I found this channel it is the only one I use. All of his tips and instructions have been spot on!
Thanks for all your videos, after 3 weeks of wat hinckley all your videos I tackled thd installation of my entire house. 4 days at 10 hours each perfect professional results and you saved me $3,500 in labor. Plus the satisfaction. Thanks again !!!!!
Thank you Joe. you saved me a lot of time. watching your excellent videos just now, i learned how to install for the vinyl planks in my kitchen. i made a huge mistake and bought the regular T-Moulding instead of the "Reducer" (Kitchen floor a little higher that the family room floor). So tomorrow morning thanks to you i will go to Lowes and get the reducer finishing end. I like to support your sponsors because what you are doing is teaching the world how to be a "Do It Yourself" project. Thank you Joe. God Bless You.
Joe, this was the last piece of my laminate install. Watching your videos has helped me a ton. I struggled on my first room but learned a lot and think room #2 will be much easier. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. 🙌🏼
Hi Joe! Thank you for all your flooring videos. They have been a blessing for me and my wife as we are replacing carpet with wood laminate. I have learned a lot. God bless you and your family!
Joe, this video was fantastic! Your tips and recommendations are always on point! Construction glue definitely holds better than dealing with the hassles of setting the track 😀. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for this video! I was having trouble with a track since I was also angling down for a slight shift in levels. This worked really well, in combo with cutting an angled spacer to fill the gap and support the threshold, and looks great!
Love the fact that you’re showing this. I pretty much glue and weight all my transitions with 100% clear silicone. I’ve never been a fan of the plastic transition pieces that are made to match the vinyl plank floors, can’t just nail em down like laminate transitions and you better make sure you have a really sharp saw blade when you cut them too. Other than that, glue and weight them down with leftover boxes or paint cans work good too. Tell customer to make sure leave weights in place for 24 hrs to be safe and allow silicone to cure completely
i use solid maple or oak tees or reducers ,stained to match floor, and siliconed and weighted like you say.they are pricey ,but will last forever.another option with 2 similar levels is schluter reno-tee.....super low profile transition!!
Hey man thanks for all your videos, I was able to to a nice install job on a whole house as a beginner thanks to mostly just your channel. Earned my subscription.
I generally use a strong bonding liquid nails to set my transitions, and use frog tape or blue painters tape to hold them down. Occasionally, not often, I will use a brad nailer. I do like the idea of the glue gun though - thanks. Also, I recently discovered that dry magic erasers work well for getting up liquid nails if you get any on the plank.
Because the tracks are garbage and if the transition does not break over time it will certainly make a terrible noise when it is walked on. Gluing it makes it solid
BIG SHOUTOUT TO MY GUY THANK U SO MUCH FOR THE INFO! I just layed 35ft of transition that goes from plank to carpet and guess what! I used T mold and like u said 2 days later high traffic areas due to the stress on the Carpet side when u walk on it are making the top end tear from the bottom that goes into the track. I have fucking played myself so now off to go get 35ft of end cap. Thank u so much I am 4 hours into research not knowing what other style to go with and blah blah blah, just for your 2 sentences to save the day, I appreciate you!
Hi there! I have a question: I am trying to install a vinyl T-molding and the length needs to be 96 inches to fit. I can only find 78 3/4 inch molding kits and I am wondering how do I cut and fit two pieces together so it looks nice? Or can you suggest a brand of vinyl T-molding that would have a product long enough to fit?
did this and had a customer crying for days... pissed me off. he wanted the tracks boohoooooo. they watch these youtube videos and now they are experts
Just had all the bedrooms done. For the life of me, . cant figure out why they insisted on end caps from a transition to tile and was practically the same height. We hate the transition. Its big and bulky.. During the second day of the install, i said cut the transitions to length and don't set them. I'll be changing the end caps to Ts real shortly. But other than that the floors look good.. Thanks for the vid...and for the links to the adhesives..
Another great and helpful video Joel (hope I got that right)! I have found your channel extremely helpful and educational. I am planning on doing some work on our floors later this spring. After watching a few of your videos I feel that your site is going to provide the tips I need for it to come out great. Thank you very much for posting!
HiJoe, thanks for your videos. What do you recommend for transition pieces on concrete? I was going to use a track and drill into concrete, but now watching your video, it might be easier to use glue. any advice is appreciated .
As far as what type of transition you need, I would need more info on what the plank is ending to. I would glue the transitions and throw away the tracks.
Thank you Joe, I have a question for you. I am installing a laminate floor and need to do moulding around a rectangular granite in front of a fireplace. Wonder how could we do this type of moulding? Appreciate!
Hi Joe, I am going to be installing Pergo Marengo Stone 10 mm with DMX 4mm pad both at Lowes over 23/32 OSB in a old double wide home. I have replaced most of the weak floors. Is there any thing I should do to the joints before I Start?
Hi Joe. Thanks for your videos. They are very helpful. I'm currently working on my first vinyl plank floor at my home. What brand of T moldings/transition strips do you like or prefer to use? I've been looking around & some are terrible quality & cheaply made. I'm looking for something durable, waterproof & that doesn't stick up so far (low profile?). Also, where's a good place to purchase them? Thanks!
Thanks for this. My house came with a bunch of transitions between tile and carpet that appear to be a 1-1/2" wide piece of something that looks and feels like white granite. I doubt it actually IS granite, but it looks and feels like it. Anyway, I had always wondered how it was attached, and I guess glue is the obvious answer! :-D Thanks!
Is that MasterWeld 948 adhesive that you’re using? It looks like the tube. If so, do you find it superior to PL Premium MAX strength? I’m installing a 5 1/2” red oak landing tread all the way around a stairway landing and I want to be sure I’m using the best option possible for the adhesive.
Where should the t-molding begin? Flush with the outer part of the jam ; edge centered in the middle of the jam ; or flush on the the inner edge of the jam directly under the door when closed? I'm working up against carpet in 3 bedrooms and have planks running long ways down a hall. Cheers.
So question if using a reducer should I use the construction adhesive to glue it down to the board since my tile is higher than my flooring or should I glue down a strip of wood under the reducer to make it reach?
How long does it take for liquid nails to dry? I had to put some on the flooring that had to go under door jams and the next day the tile came right off the other tile…
100% clear silicone is always a great adhesive too! It sticks to anything, is flexible, and also gives you the chance to pull the piece back up without breaking it if you ever need to remove it for a repair
Hi joe, I'm looking to do a even transition from hardwood to vinyl plank the span of the room (14'). Wondering if you have any slick ideas to achieve such a transition without using a transition strip?
Do you always glue down transition pieces? Also if you are laying adhesive to glue down the transition piece won’t that interfere with the floating plank, not allowing it enough room for expansion?
Love it and YES they fixed the issues! I bought a Dewalt a couple years ago cause I was afraid of the problems and my son bought the gen 2 and now I don't use the Dewalt!
Hey Joe, I have a question. I’m sure you’ve already covers this a million times, but I’m installing NuCore vinyl over concrete in Florida and it says to use Sentinel Protect Plus underlayment because it’s a vapor barrier instead of using the 6 mil plastic. What, if any, suggestions would you have? Would you use that since it’s listed in the manufacturers warranty?
i had the carpet removed and istalled with vynil planks, some of the stairs squeack a bit espcially if you step closer to the bullnose. they used both glue and nails. does the squeak go away after awhile or is there something else i can do/ thanks man
Hello, how do you handle transitioning from a higher surface to a lower one? I am installing lvp over existing tile. I need to transition from the rooms door, to a hallway that also has tile. The hallway is at the level of the tile I am installing the lvp over.

Thanks for all the help Jo and god bless you.

How much space should there be between the tile and the plank so that the T mold fits properly?
hi what's the way putting vinyl planking around a existing arch wood molding window thanks

I would use a square nose/end cap for that.
Thanks Joe 👍

What do I do for the LVT with the short side that ends up perpendicular against a bathtub?
I would caulk it
Joe can you use laminate transition molding on vinyl plank flooring?
So question if using a reducer should I use the construction adhesive to glue it down to the board since my tile is higher than my flooring or should I glue down a strip of wood under the reducer to make it reach?

I use quarter round.

Yes I do and there will be plenty of room for expansion.

I would use quarter round. Leave an expansion gap and cover it with quarter round. I use 1/2 inch x 3/4 inch base shoe.

You don't have to. I was just sharing some extra tips.
That t moulding is never coming out
This really wasn’t a good video for installing transitions
