Jerry is underrated in the guitar community. He is absolutely incredible and his guitar tone is the ballsiest thing I’ve ever heard.
Absolutely true
@@ImpostorModanica he's totally a genius introvert. (opinions.... people tend to not notice introverts... regardless of talent level)
He’s top dog where I come from
Same here bro he's feeling cling unreal the true sound of Alice in chains
How is he underrated? He's a massive rock star and quite fairly rated.
Jerry broke one of his hands many years ago, and was completely freaked out that he might never play again. He even toured without playing the guitar while his hand healed. Yikes. But thanks to metal plates and pins, he came through with flying colors. Can't imagine a world without Jerry's amazing riffs!
There's a mic placement secret you might not know about which Jerry incorporated; DUAL POSITIONS: front cab and rear of the guitar cab.
Always good to see Cantrell getting some love
OMG Steven I love you so much for making this. Can't wait for the Monuments video to happen.
You made me love my Nameless again.
I've had the nameless for a while now and when I saw this video, I thought that the nameless would have been used. I was kinda surprised to see that you tried all of the others first. Nameless is just so throaty and beefy that it just screamed Cantrell to me lol. Solid video. I'm taking these tones with me \m/
Hell yeah! So when I saw that he's been using Freidman amps, my first thought was to go with the Plini since that worked for Bill Kelliher's tone. I think it's easy to get caught up in the new piece of equipment at times and forget that the older stuff you have is just as good. ;)
You nailed it Steve! I’ve been using the Nameless Suite a bunch and it is such an inspirational writing tool.🤘🔥
Thanks, dude! I absolutely agree! The Nameless is what sold me on Neural when it released. 🤘🤘
That’s one of my favorite guitar tones ever. Funny enough, I’ve listened to the isolated guitar track of Man In The Box and it sounds very jcm 800 with a Ts9. I guess they scooped the hell out of 400hz and boosted the top in the mixing process, but it worked! The tone in this video is fantastic.
Sounds amazing! Love these videos!
Thanks, dude! Glad you dig them! 🤘🤘
One of these with Type O Negative would be cool
100% !! I used the Nameless on this Type O cover I did for Halloween. Not sure I 'got it right' so to speak, but wasn't trying to get it exact. I used a chorus effect on the guitar, which is what often gives the Type O sound. ruclips.net/video/e4vvKJytdBY/видео.html
OMG !!! I was searching to dial these kinds of tone for weeks with my Plini & nameless plus ! these presets and video are a big "WOW" !!!!!!!!!
Awesome! Really glad you dig the work! 🤘😁🤘
Bought the Nameless yesterday. Could not be more happy! Thank you guys 😎
Yes! Perfect timing! 🤘🤘
It can not be that simple! Those tones are so close to the originals. Amazing! Glad to see another fan (Steven) of Behemoth as well. Guys you make great plugins. One thing i do not like is the iLok manager needed.
Epic video, what a show off of guitar knowledge!
Thanks, dude! I seriously have so much fun doing the research on these vids. 😊
sounds great! thanks! I'm really having fun with this plugin
As much as I love nolly, the nameless was super fun and impressive here. Awesome work.
Thanks! I've really been itching to get back to the other sims recently so this was perfect! 🤘🤘
Best JJ tone shaping ever ;-)
No way! My girlfriend and I do a cover of Man in the Box. I'll definitely give this a go
Hell yeah! Also, good to see you in the comments again! :D
@@TheRealStevenWard sorry I havent been around that often. Work has been kicking my ass.
I still try to keep up to date with the channel though
Side note: I use a 1989 Jackson/Charvel when playing Man in the Box, it has that natural dirty tone.
Also... I FINALLY got around buying parallax today
@@LeeJoRo No worries, my dude! :)
Awesome! How do you like Parallax?
@@TheRealStevenWard I had the trial a while ago and loved it, so easy to use it's silly. I have a week off work to catch up on all things music related and Parallax is my priority (using a spector euro 5 lx).
Good job dude!!
Thanks! 🤘😁🤘
Great job guys!
Nailed it, your on point
Oh man thanks for these killer presets man. I love Alice In Chains
Can anyone share these presets again? I tried them and they were amazing.
Man in the Box was very very close though yeah your version was slightly brighter than the original. Them Bones was okay....Jerry's tone in that song was a bit thicker with slightly more mids and slightly less harsh. Stone one was close, but was a bit too harsh for my ear anyway. That Friedman Jerry has is ridiculous and is very smooth sounding.
Hey Steven! I always wondered what happened to you. Haven’t seen you since Fifth String Music. Congrats on the great channel! This is John S from back in Sacramento.
Nice Video as always! Lamb Of God, Feared and Opeth would be amazing for the tone series! Hopefully with the NTS 😅😁.
Are these presets still floating around? The link is dead. Cheers! 🤘
Following!
Had heard about them before, but got into AIC lately, very late ik. Man they were such icons!
well done!
Thanks, Kyle! 😁
just used these presets for Nine Inch Nails LAST and it works great!!!
Thanks!
Makes sense, since Alice N Chains was probably the influence for that, since dirt came out in 92’
Good job, Steven! Just a question: when you play back the "context" clip, what are we hearing? The drums and bass with the Fortin on both sides or the Fortin on one side and Jerry + band on the other? The stereofield felt kind of lopsided during playback, so I wasn't sure.
Cantrell is amazing, i like to shred, but that feeling, and his mind as he write songs are unique… great video, i think i would buy that goddamn plugin ajajja
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I SAW A INTERVIEW OF JERRY CANTRELL TALKING ABOUT HIS RIG ..and interesting thing which i came to know was about how they mic'd up their cabinets...
🎤🔊🎙️ they mic'd Rear & front both sides of the cabinet.. which gave an extra ""woof" to the guitar sound making it more ballse and on the face the like tone
is possible for you'll to emulate something like that would be so wonderful
In my case the nameless is the perfect for jerry cantrel tone but the impulses on the plugin have to much low end and lack on mids. So i used one of seacows friedman and some marshall 1960 impulses to get it right and it sounds pretty close without a lot of post processing.
Subscribed bro, thank you so much for everything. I would like to know how you set NOLLY for Stephen carpenter(deftones) thank you again
awesome
Nice job man 👍 Nameless is favourite Neural sim, any plans to update it with the EQ and effects sections from Plini / Nolly?
Thanks! I'm not sure if that's in the plans but I know they're working on updates for all the plugins right now so I'm hoping that's in the works. 😁
@@TheRealStevenWard I hope so, would love that extra versatility of eq & effects that the more recent sims have, fingers crossed!
Neural please update the link for this preset! It's legendary
How do I download those IR samples to my iPhone? I’ve downloaded others, and saved right to garage band, or Google Drive.
What is the best way to download and unzip these, and can they be used with GarageBand or AmpliTube? Just kind of learning about IRs now.
Great stuff! Thanks anyone!!! 🎸😆
I'm in a grunge cover band. Can you PLEASE post the IR you used? You absolutely nailed his tone
Did you ever figure it out lmao
@@lastfirst3512 no... he never got back to me, unfortunately
@@Airakobra shoutout for the response from you even though the post is 3 years old lol. Any links for your cover band ?
Behemoth goes next!!!)
Hell yeah!
What about that bass tone ( in the stone example) Is it the Parallax. I'm trying to recreate that but it always ends up weak :(
im not a fan of alice in chains but ive always thought he had awesome guitar tones and playing. His friedman amp is ridiculously awesome. i have a separate question though, if i wanted to route the plugins out to a power amp and cab what should i do? what kind of power amp should i get sense i can't turn off the power amp simulation in the plugin?
Definitely! This episode absolutely made me want to get a Freidman for myself. lol. If you want to go out to a poweramp, you'll need to run a signal out from your interface, to a re amp box, then to the power amp, and on to the cab. The re amp box isn't absolutely necessary though and it won't damage your equipment if you don't use it.
Steven Ward yeah it’s super tempting to get the JJ jr. ok awesome I’ll definitely do that. I just like trying different ways to get cool guitar tones
Seymour Duncan powerstage works brilliantly. With a re-amp box.
@@Thetimrobertson 🤘😁🤘
hey bro do you think i can download the dsp i have a mid 2011 iMac
Hi !! Any chance we can have the presets again?? Please 🙏?!?!
I know this is old, but does anyone still have these presets available? The link above does not work anymore. Thanks!
Sei riuscito a trovarli?
No sorry not yet
@@charliemylrea1189 ok grazie
What program did you use to find those plugins?
Hey I wanted to try out your preset. Link is not working though. Aah
Link to the preset folder doesn’t seem to work?
Ozzy - No rest for the wicked tone, would be superb. It's so difficult to get even close with my knowledge.
Great suggestion! I'll add that onto the list! :D
When I first heard Zakk's tone on Miracle Man I was inspired forever!!!!!!
Besides the settings, he used thick strings(I'm almost sure) and I reallly wide vibrato, even on double stops and some chords...
Dig that pick in, he plays with tons of balls as you know I'm sure.
I didn't even bother mentioning the chorus effect as I'm sure it obvious.
@@tarekwayne9193 The guy that built my guitar ( and 41 for Prince) recently was Zakk's guitar tech from the No More Tears tour through the first couple of years of Black Label. I heard a lot of funny stories hanging out in the shop. He said that his sound was all Marshall JCM-800s, Gibson, EMG 81-85, GHS .10-.52 at that time. The "No Rest For The Wicked" era, he used a bunch of rack gear. His only effects were a chorus, a super overdrive and a wah. Ironically, Alice In Chains were the opener on that tour, and he was telling me that Jerry Cantrell had him install the Kahlers on his original G&Ls when they went home on a break. He didn't trust his own tech to rout the bodies and since he built the Glory for Zakk, he asked him to do it.
@@erichart9465 Interesting! Thanks for sharing!!
Hello! Could you please re upload the presets?
This is a good video to shut up the EMG critics! 😁👍
Ps, anyone know which speakers the IR was?
Someone has the preset?
Them Tones
Can you try to dial in thrice?
Absolutely!
wish you used a passive pickup too
the first link is not working
But can you do it with a boss katana?
Both links dead.
Them bones doesn't have more gain in the tone but instead is more than two (normally doubled) tracks. It can fool you.
“Man on the Box”
Presets r down
Marshall modified Bogner huh?
This video has phase issues when the songs are playing.
How to dial jerry tone if you don't have in off money..only what you have is blackstar modelling amp😂😂
