If you're wondering where Them Bones is, I love that song and the opening riff rocks, but it was number 13.
Nice to see Check My Brain high on the list but I would have made Them Bones much higher than 13 though myself. That was a good video on altering the Megadeth song but did it get blocked for a copyright claim? You also mentioned in your last live stream that you've done a lot of Bible Study - was the Vol. 4 shirt and the number one song a coincidence or was it because St. Vitus - as in The St. Vitus Dance song from that record - passed when he was about 12 and is the patron saint of entertainers?

I've always considered Alice in Chains as the Black Sabbath of the 90's, so seeing you wear a Sabbath shirt while playing these AiC riffs felt surreal lol

Definitely the most metal of the big grunge bands. But on the other hand, they actually did the acoustic thing better than they all did too. The range those boys had is incredible

It Ain't Like that is my favorite. The brief scene of them playing it live in the movie Singles is the best part of that movie.

I personally think that the best Cantrell riff is "Died" from the bank album, that riff its so heavy and crushing, easily one of the best riff of all time

Man, I wish more people were exposed to the riff in "died" that song is such a banger and noone shows it any love.

I once read where someone described Phantom Limb as slowed down Slayer…glad to see it made the list. Would have loved to have had the breakdown riff from Acid Bubble on here too
Yeah, Acid Bubble is a good gem, too.
As soon as I read the name of the band, instant click. Nice one. Them bones, Fear the voices, Lesson learned, are other great riffs from Alice in Chains.

The new albums have such killer grooves too, great to see some of them here. A Looking In View and The One You Know are two I would add. And I love God Am, that's just such weird groove.
Missed opportunity to do Angry Chair leading into Man in the Box and Them Bones into Dam That River like they do at some of their concerts 😎🤘.. I like seeing some of the newer stuff included , great choices on those . Rain When I die and Them Bones would have to be in my list though , somewhere . We Die Young great pick #1

My personal favorite would have to be "Rain When I Die", but you really can't go wrong with any of these choices.

Just purchased a Black Gibson myself, and I'm hooked! The sustain is crazy........ They look so awesome in solid colors instead of typical "classic" paintjobs.

Yes! Definitely going on an AIC binge today. Also love that their more recent albums are recognised here alongside the classics.
No wonder metal heads keep telling me AiC is the best grunge band. All I ever heard from them is obviously the huge radio songs, Man in the Box and Would? Definitely need to check them out when I get home.
Alice in Chains is probably the closest to the edge of grunge that you can flirt with before going full-blown metal
Sean kinney doesnt get anywhere near enough credit for his contributions to the AiC sound.

Totally agree! I could even argue to say that Sean Kinney is one of the most underrated drummers ever.
He’s my favorite drummer of all time. Too many good grooves but Frogs is just insane.

Just started an AIC cover band and cant stop jamming these grooves.
Sean Kinney is such a beast. He has a distinct groove and he hits hard, so there's a power to the beats.
The pre chorus on sunshine is among my favs. The same to the pre chorus of Hate to feel (the "Tool's Sober like" part)
It's cool that you featured quite some new songs on the list, the Will DuVall records are pretty good by themselves.
I will unashamedly put Black Gives Way to Blue up their with some of the band's best. It gets unfairly overlooked as with all modern AiC because it doesn't have Layne on it, but it's not like the band had any choice about that. It's still an incredible album despite Layne's absense.

A lot of the old die hards who refuse to think of anything AIC after Layne as "good" seem to forget that Duvall has now been in the band longer than Layne was, and they've continued to pump out one solid album after another. I legit don't see any difference. Whether it's Layne or Jerry or Will singing... it is all amazing.
Jerry is by far the best riff and song writer of the 90s

Very nice. I was and am still a big Alice In Chains fan. While he will never blow anyone away with solos, Jerry Cantrell has great riffs and a great sound.

I'll always be partial to 'Get Born Again' and 'Died' and the sound that might have been a follow-up to Tripod had Layne been able to find a way through. The tone and riffs on 'Get Born Again' are the darkest and coldest Jerry every got.
you need to show how you get that snare sound man. the production on these videos is killer.
I was gonna comment to complain about rooster and them bones but I love Alice in Chains, hard to pick a list like this when all their songs have such a good groove to them
Mike, you had all of my favorites in the exact order. Also don't you think it's weird that We die young is one of their least viewed music videos? Cause it's my favorite, and I think Jerry is a genius when it comes to that riff.

My favorite riff to play is Rain When I Die, the one right before the solo, so good! (My second runner up would be the solo to Them Bones)
Looks like I'm missing out on The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here! Hard to argue with any of these picks. Hearing Dam That River again makes me wanna go play Quake again. (I used to play the original Quake with Dirt instead of the real soundtrack. Dam That River plays when you start the game up. It WORKS.)

"The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here" is up there with Alice's best albums... As good as "Dirt" or the self-titled. I miss Layne, but the band is still kicking butt!
