in car settings you can setup an overboost, when you press the SELECT button while driving in a race you can toggle overboost for extra turbo-boost pressure at the expense of overheating your engine brutally
that old lancer is one of my fave cars in the game, i think i beat if not completed most of the game with it, it sounds better than most othe cars in the game when fully upgraded

I have this entire collection and have beaten the US and Japanese versions. i can tell you this entry is the best one but has a major flaw that keeps me playing Zero and 2 instead. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3's traffic cars suck. they all the same van. ones you realise this it becomes lame.
This game was really good I remember unlocking the engine swap but the issue is you unlocked it at the end of the game where you actually have nothing to do.

@KingdomTwelve I've seen you use it in the next video in the series lol. But almost nobody on RUclips who plays txr boosts, I don't see the square turn red.
Did they change the gameplay from Zero to 3? You can't outrun cars like that right away in Zero you have to wait for them to slow down or mess up which they do once or twice, then you pass them, then you have to block them for the rest of the race cause they are always faster than you, so it feel more like a fighting game. If you fail to pass them the instant they mess up those one or two times then you lose right away, cause they take off and you cant catch them again. It weird to see the game look that looks so easy after playing Zero. Maybe Zero is the broken game and that's the only one I ever played lol.

Yeaaaaa, unless you left it running after a race, you'd never unlock the swaps. Especially if you always bought new cars.

Not installing the game, just the texture pack and wide-screen fix. Just search it on RUclips. It's simple.
