Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 - A Racing Game That Deserves More Love

- This game is criminally unpopular and It's my goal to give it some more love.
A lot of racing games these days tend to lack a lot of substance and I want to hopefully
make a reminder to the community about the lengths a racing game can go to shake up the bag, while still being grounded in reality. The game's a little weeby but luckily anyone can handle the subtle weebiness.
Make sure you comment down your impression of the game and if you actually have any history with the game! I've heard some great stories over the years so dont be afraid to share any thoughts you have or if this maybe inspired you.
Enjoy the video!

This game is honestly and STILL is one of the best street racing games I’ve ever played. The detail the crews and the god like power the bosses give. I love the aura and each individual boss has a unique boss fight and changes the atmosphere. Ever since this game I’ve named my cars in NFS 2015 and Heat in inspiration of this game. I’m always a lone wanderer named Night Stalker 🌙, I love this game with my heart and it’s series I cherish and I dream of a day we get another Tokyo Xtreme Racer.
We did get another.... Import tuner challenge!😅
@@jorgesalgado5389 But.... heavy drop in difficulty......
@@EdyAlbertoMSGT3 You are not lying!!! Game did feel allot easier than 3 or zero especially missing allot the original content there where times I tried my hardest not to doze off from boredom at times. Txr3 or zero I could play for hours while still fully engaged. I hope Night Runners when it comes out to be just as good as the old games not sure if it's just me but lately racing games have become more dull ah well I think I'm done ranting on now. 😅
@@jorgesalgado5389 ITC had some neat ideas going on like carrying over the vinyl system from Drift 2 and more extensive visual customization, but does seem rather undercooked with the significantly reduced car and opponent lineup and lack of any real difficulty. I'm also curious about ITC's development cycle just because I'm wondering why it was an Xbox exclusive rather than a PS3 title (since Japanese games and Xbox typically don't mix more often than not).
And yeah, I also hope Night Runners turns out great. I don't wanna go "they don't make em like they used to" but modern AAA racers have felt rather stale compared to the ones across the 2000s, so indie studios moreorless would be picking up the pieces.
the fact that it's an xbox exclusive is why I never heard about it till almost a decade after it came out tbh
I used to stay up for hours playing this game when I was in junior high school. Then I moved to Tokyo and knew my way around without ever having been here because of this game 😂 I never in my wildest dreams thought I would live here and do exactly what I spent hours doing virtually in real life.
Do you still live there
@@TrollThings247 yup
thats awsome... i used to play this for hours too in junior high school and would love to go to japan some day
Thats super inspiring
Man thats my dream...how did you learnt japanese?
this is the budokai tenkaichi of racing games
Yep. TRX3 supposed to be Dragon Ball Tenkaichi 2.0.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer 0 and this game to a slightly lesser extent are easily in my top 10 games of all time. Even with some roughness around the edges, I always come back to TXR0 and play it through almost annually... a real rarity when you have such incredible games on the market and over the years, but there is something truly special about these games and I miss them dearly
For someone whos played none of them, which is the best to jump into?
i think 3 is the last headache for sure
@@jeckek9936TRX 1 to 3.
I love how this game was inspired by real life street racing in Japan
That's what they're trying to capitalize. Ever since the first game.
And anime never really watched it but I think I should give it a shot. I remember walking in the arcade and seeing the game lol back then I didn't even know how to drive or use a manual and was on realistic stuff

@@sagemodemason972Mia Taylor and Yuu Takasaki also a big fan of TOKYO XTREME RACER 3 bro.
imagine is this already ahead of its time, super underrated, rare and bespoke received a remake after all these years !!! This type of game is so desirable in times like now....It would beat the living hell out of nfs.
I agree with you. Check out "Night Runners" it's not exactly like xtreme racer but, it being different helps and it's drawing some attention
I still have this game. I name some of my cars after the epic battles I had.
The closest thing to a remake is Assetto Corsa's Shutoko Revival Project Mod.
It would? No it did and frankly still does. :D
Nah maybe for purely car guys sure but NFS is a household name like saying an indie game will outsell cod.
I am in tears. This was gaming. I couldn't wait to get in from work to play it. Finish off a crew, or the boss I couldn't beat the night before. I busted my ass at work to get enough money to get a tv's in my headrests in my 92 Explorer, so I could put my ps2 in it and play TER 3 ony breaks. This game was addicting. And what you got was what you got. No dlc's, no add-ons, no micro transactions. Simple enough. Today's games could take pointers from the games of yester-year. And hell, if they remastered it, I'd pay $100 for it right now. Truthfully, more. And any game could keep its winning formula, just add more. More tracks, cars. Don't change mechanics. It's fine like so. Please remake this game, and give this 43 year old a piece of his youth back. And enjoy it with my kid, who is now into gaming
Sadly Genki (the devs) won't remake this game. BUT if you want to elevate it , now you can emulate it on pc in 4K 60fps with high quality texture packs , it really helps.
@@warracer03 , we can always buy up the company and get new people to make new, as well as better, sequels to it, and remakes/reboots/remasters of the classic games, though.
@@warracer03Genki should've remake all of TOKYO XTREME RACER games.
fun fact: If you drive enough miles on a car, engine swaps are avaliable.
Only the real OG's know that you could eject your CD on PS2 right after running a race and get it on cruise control, leave the console on over night and put the CD back in, BAM OVERNIGHT PARTS IN JAPAN.
Real OG’s know you needed a GameShark to 100% the game due to an error when they made the non-Japanese versions of the game. And that when you did 100% it, engine swaps were available for all cars
nice details
I was able to get enough miles on one of my cars to able to do an engine swap. I want to say it was on my Evo V.
I remember reading it in the handbook. Wasnt it like 72k miles or something
the atmosphere is what really draws me into these “highway runner” racing games (maximum tune 3DX+ being my all time favourite in particular). They really nail that eire, almost ghostly vibe like you really are driving on an empty highway late a night. It’s something you don’t really see in more popular street racers like need for speed.
This game is the standard i use for a satisfiying racing game. It left such as a big impact on me.
NFS and other racing games like it never really hit the spot for me.
But this hit just the spot
Only game close was Gran Turismo 5/6 on the c1 and wagan tracks
Most DC games provide great levels of entertainment that you won't likely find in today's games despite their polished graphics and thunderous advertisement.
At least older nfs nailed arcade handling and not whatever this game tried to do.
@@swilleh_ this game makes it feel like your actually controlling a car that has weight, the only old NFS game that even did racing well was carbon yeah MW was fun for the cop stuff but the racing was just bad and U1 and U2 have the same issues as MW you cant even really drift in the old NFS games
the only reason to prefer old NFS is if you like the SUPER arcade like handling which i do not and think the initial d games did it WAY better (especially special stage) so did the burnout games in NFS its like your glued to the road and the cars aint made of metal
@@guero9093ever since post GT6, NO GAMES EVER CAME CLOSE TO THAT.
Such a great series, I love all the details they put into the descriptions for every part and gave each racer a back story.
I love your avi. Speed king was always my favorite racer.
Yes it’s one of the few games to make me care about a race because of the bios of the different racers and groups.
I like the Turbine Engines in this game they should re-make this game for PS5
Agree
And ps4
Not gonna happen
And PS3
I did not grow up with TXR series, but now I got my hands on a PS2 Emulator on my PC and here I am picking up what I missed. Great video, my friend
Is it too much hardware you require to run it?
as long as you have a modern pc i think you should be able to run it with very little issue.
@@FluffyTheKami I have a 2015 Macbook Pro i7 with a Nvidia GTX 1gb graphic card
ehhh I dont think that'll run the game. Gonna want something with a bit more horsepower. Also I believe a windows machine is required but I cant be certain on that front.
you can certainly try and see if its possible to run though
I put 100’s of hours into this game by far one of my most favorite childhood games
For me i put 300hours into this TRX3 actually.
@@purwantiallan5089 prove it
When you beat a team you really had to fight for it! It gave you this feeling of accomplishment it was so awesome i love this game
This game is the reason why I love JDM cars. Even discovered cars that I've rarely seen out here in the states. For every instance that I seen a rare JDM, I've always look back on this game. The intro still hits different. Holds a special place in my heart.
This game is one of the most underated car racing games ever made. There was only 2 issues with it, the traffic was wack cause it was only minivans and 2 the rival 600 glitch.
False on the minivan traffic 😆
@@dgs.creates amm , not false, look up any video clip on the net rite now of TXR3 gameplay, 100% all minivans other than the models of the cars we battle against. 1, 2 and Zero had diffrent vaiarity of traffic, TXR3 just had the minivans, yellow with the Genki name written trough them.
@@Latexghost ah ok I was gonna say I've hit plenty of semi trucks lol...it's been far too long since I've played any of them. What's the 600 glitch
@@dgs.creates due to an issue converting yeng to dollars in the game credits makes it impossible to beat one wanderer that requires like 100 million dollars but the us market game goes to 99,999,999 so the wanderer will not engage. Now there's ways to beat this glitch. Buy a cheat modifier or get to the wanderer and challenge it. Then open the lid of the ps2 before the game can cancel the race, wait for the road to disappearand then close the lid again and some times the wander would engage the battle
At least when it came Tokyo xtreme racer zero you could be as fast as the bosses. You just had to know how to tune the transmission gear ratios
Wow didn’t expect to see this pop up anywhere lol, these series were pretty fun my favorite being zero. The “Big Apple” theme was so good.
Zero was my starting point for the series and god I played the nonsense outta zero. Big Apple was an absolute banger. Way too hype for your typical battle theme lol.
FluffyTheKami lmao yup. Never knew you played racing games too, I subscribed from your ff14 content lol.
I played racing games so much in my childhood and still to this day. Its a hidden passion of mine I guess. Love cars and most aspects of car culture. I know I'm a xiv channel but sometimes i just wanna talk about other things so I'm glad this actually caught a subscribers eye.
This game actually have a REALLY deep lore
all the rivals and teams have a backstory and some go through multiple games.
I love Tokyo xtreme racer 3 with a burning passion. It covers nearly all the bases i want to see more in racing games. The rivals system is so detailed, i love the rival names and the names you can acquire yourself. The car list was awesome, the maps were awesome, the boss battles were pants wetting terrifying sometimes and the music was awesome. Id love to see Genki come back and make a TXR in 2021 and go all out evolving the mechanics of the series, they hardly need to change much except the driving physics and some small aspects of customization.
Yeah this one of the few games where I've actually 100% multiple times. It's a very satisfying game to play. If they could come out with a game like this in the current age, it would be what every racing gamer would flock too.
@@FluffyTheKami idk if you've heard of it but there's a guy working on a game called Night Runners. A slew of JDM cars to drive, Japanese highway maps and i think they have mountain toge and drift as well. Idk if he's implemented actual races yet, i believe he's developing the game by himself. Here's a short clip ruclips.net/video/eA0utA4kKow/видео.html
@@FluffyTheKami , what are your takes on the PS2 port of Test Drive: Unlimited, as well as TOCA Racing 3 and Enthusia Professional Racing?
@@paxhumana2015 I never actually had the chance to play test drive, as my local blockbuster always had it rented out! I've wanted to play the pc mod but I've struggled finding a copy of it.
I love TOCA, but in the states it was just Pro Race driver. I have a lot of nostalgia for it, but I haven't played it since my early teens. I should take another look at it.
As for Enthusia, I didn't even know about Enthusia until I turned about 20 or so lol. So outside of video essays on it, I dont have the greatest knowledge on it. It seems really cool. Probably one of the more interesting and creative takes on the GT formula. I didn't think I'll ever play it, but I have a lot of respect for it.
Grew up with Gran Turismo 3 and Xtreme Racer Zero, and Zero was my game of choice hands down between the two. I hope for a similar kind of game to come out again some day, haven't really enjoyed any racing games since then, except burnout paradise.
And Tokyo Xtreme Racer is the only racing game that excite me besides Forza Horizon series
I miss this game The whole Tokyo lineup of games was just amazing
The sudden boom in this video is making me want to play this game again myself haha. I still do need to restart my TXR Drift 2 playthrough so I can make that video some day...
TXRD2 POG
Drift 2 is my favorite, initial d vibes everywhere. oh and theres a suzuki carry and a daihatsu midget pickup.
Yeah, one thing that make unique for GRP games series
All Rivals has dang personality
I even experience it in Street Supremcay which is Tokyo Xtreme Racer PSP version
@@Kosoku63 I really liked how in TXRD2 the challenges you got via mail were all shit talky and when you saw some of their intros they looked like the coolest motherfuckers. I remember New Moon (Shiga Kusatsu Slasher) talking some mad shit and then his intro was basically "I do ayahuasca before racing". Too bad they all got beat by that weird fuck (me) driving an EG.
@@Mx64MaxyImpress As weird as it sounds Street Supremacy has some of the best modifications i've seen for a 350z in any game.
I’m definitely going to pick this game up. I always saw my friend playing it and I’d be like “hey let’s play gran turismo man” kicking myself now
Fun fact to hear the song at 14:37 Race Blue Rose (racer in Nagoya) for over 1 minute and win. When you look at the replay this song will play.
Tokyo Extreme Racer has the best Content idea to date. Rivals! It gets so personal with these 1 on 1 battles.
They need to remake this series
Played the first one, the second one on the dreamcast, then the zero and this one.
In the order, I loved Tokyo Xtrem Racer 2 better, even prefer it to zero (the amount of car/brand, the graphic more cartoonish, the speed effect and the handling). It was so impressive in its time. But then this one come in second place for its graphics and the additional map, and the thunderstorm effet. They are still the best racing game that were ever released, and among the most underrated game in history
I have Xtreme Racer Zero (2001) glad to see they continued to make improvements on the game. This game really has a certain nostalgia to it. In the US version, the racers all have American names... in Japan lol. They thought it would sound more familiar. One of my favorite things about this game is the fact u could control the turn signals! Anyway, I never got far in the game as I was rather young at the time to know how to properly tune the cars or how certain rivals worked, but it did feel like I was driving in Japan. This game is Def a hidden, underrated gem. Great video, spot on commentary 👌
When my dad bought me my PS2 my first game was TXR0. It was the only racing game box in the glass display. To this day 20 years later I still have it. My PS2 is still hooked up to my TV with the classic blue and red memory cards And Sony controllers. I’ve poured countless hours into that game. And it was addicting. So much so that my mom unknowingly bought me the same game for the game boy advance. When I wasn’t at home playing on my PS2 I was in the backseat of my parents car playing this on my game boy. This game along with underground two, most wanted and midnight club is what got me into cars.
Man I wanted to thank you for making this video. I never knew about the series but now I’m about to play the hell out of them.
I loved this game back in the day. The intro always had me hyped to play. From tune testing to the highway battles. Many nights spent just auto pilot cruising engine mileage for hidden upgrades.
YT's algorithm just popped this video up for me! TXR0 and TXR3 are the best! Since '03 I play either one of these games at least once a year. It scratches an itch that no other game can. A modern version would literally make me pass away from an overload of childhood excitement. It's nice to see that I wasn't the only person that loves these games! Thanks for the content!!
I love this game. If a modern mmo version would be made it would be badass, maybe with different country's highways/ freeways as add on's (or maybe not, as it's based on Tokyo first and foremost).
I had a copy of this way back when I was in Elementary. It got stolen. But I finally found another copy about 2 weeks ago. Being sick the last few days, I really got to sit down and pour dedicated time into it. Just beat the story mode for the first time last night. It’s such a good game and I wish more people liked it.
the same can be universally said on Genki racing games, including the Japanese-only RBC1GP, but my personal fav would be Drift 2/KB3 in that regard, being my first game in the series had enough to do with it
yeah I've been messing around with kb3 it's a fantastic game honestly. one if the best racing games I've played in awhile.
Loved tokyo xtreme racer drift back in the day but never got to play these ones till recently, awesome games and challenging as heck
"Your car will never have the ability to do what they can do"
Laughs in Ford GT
Gt40
@@dgs.creates that’s the chassis code, but it’s still just a Ford GT
@@ZestiSpeedrunning Yeah, confusingly enough. The *real* GT40 MkI which the Ford GT pays tribute to was a race car that raced in the prototype class in the mid-late 60s World Sportscar Championship and is the focal point of Ford V Ferrari. My favorite version is the MkIV even though that was a “GT40” in-name-only.
Hands down one of the best racing games of all time! I didn’t know about this game even when it came out back in the day. A friend of mine came over and had a copy for Sega Dreamcast and I was hooked. I only wish someone could make a racing game that comes close to this now.
thanks for showing this game some love. i stumbed on TXR Zero by chance & never knew there were others in the series. the level of information created for the rivals was always a favorite part of mine. i wish more people knew of this series
The very first Tim’s I played this game was 2004 with my big brother. I didn’t understand it much at the time but all I did was just race and avoid upgrading for some reason, but in later years I managed to get the US Version pretty cheaply and beat the game on my old PS2, however. Since then I play mostly on PC with PCSX2.
I dug through most of the main core of the games. A lot of interesting stuff is in then. Some also have old beta assets, though unobtainable without the use of Cheat Engine. I did alter the menus but no such Debug Menu exists nor string references. That’s what I really like to do if I wanted to change my experience with them.
I’d say give the whole series a chance, the latest being ITC (Shutokou Battle X) for the 360. It’s rushed but still has its soul compared to most of what’s released these days. I do wish Genki themselves could come back but I just highly doubt it since the market isn’t there at all for them.
Though your right people back then brushed it off, but I do se a lot of TXR inspired liveries in Forza/GTS at least.
id honestly love to get the 360 one it seems 360 emulation isnt doing so well right now and i dont think i really want to buy an xbox 360 lol. I've watched videos of it however and i have to say it looked really good. Maybe ill look into wangan midnight however as that did make it to the ps3. I also just play TXR on PCSX2. I still have my PS2 and both zero and three but it's more comfy at the PC.
I agree though that i don't think genki is coming back to make a racing game anytime soon. Going to their website it just seems like their direction has changed but thats understandable. The racing game genre itself isnt the easiest one to compete in for a lot of expensive reasons. It is nice to play forza and GT and see God's Estuary on a ford GT or i run across someone named Jintei as a username lol. Finding people that played this series is always a huge excitement to me. Intial D games are still quite something in Japan although only in arcades, which in themselves are failing. Maybe if they came to console/pc they could really up their fan bases again? I dont even think most people know there's several initial D games despite the series being hugely popular. IDK i feel like theirs so many factors as to why these arcade racers arent making it.
I just found toykyo extreme racer zero recently it's been so hard to find our childhood favorites ever since the pandemic the prices of PS2 games went through the roof with alot of games becoming really rare out of nowhere. Makes me wish older me could go back to the past and tell myself don't get rid of those games you won't find them when you get older. I never played zero as a kid mine was 3 which I spent most of my time on over most other games like need for speed games . We need a proper remaster or remake even though I'd prefer a remastered version because companys don't do a good job replicating the feel and style of the old games.
I used to adore this game when I was a kid, I credit it for kick starting my love of Japanese car culture. I remember the night I finally beat all of the teams, probably one of the top highlights of my gaming career, I was so elated and relieved only coming to the crushing realization that I have even scratched the surface of the wandering bosses. Excellent video and thank you a trip down memory lane.
I remember playing the whole series as a 6-7 year old because of my brother. Grand Turismo and this game is all I played as a child
I still play txr3 just beat the darts yesterday it’s my 1000th time playing I’m 30 yet I will play this game always when I want a solid throwback like I never grew up . WE NEED A REMASTER ASAPPPP we need a bunch of creators to catch wind of the game as an inspiring remaster
oh man i remember how awesome the boss battle with jintei was. the hype music and fucking LIGHTENING COMING OFF HIS CAR this has always been a game i played ever since i was a child, beat it multiple times but always come back for more.
Looks like one of those gems that flew under the radar and was probably overshadowed by Need for Speed or some other street racing game. Also it seems the driving physics was this game's downfall as it seems like cars slide like they're on mud...
I just found this game two days ago and have been playing it for several hours straight. I'm amazed how this managed to slip under the radar.
How can i play it? Is it on pc?
@@fatta_eli through an emulator, you can. I can confirm that this game runs on PCSX2 quite well. However, if you don't have a strong gaming PC, you might be better off buying a refurbished/used PS2 to play these old games.

I loved this series and still play Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero to this day 20 years later
I absolutely love the game, spent so much time playing it over multiple playthroughs. I gotta thank classic game room for letting me know about it a few years ago
I remember playing this game yearly. Cruising through the Wangan at 200 on a swapped starter really felt relaxing.
I actually 100%ed this recently, and it was one of the most fun and interesting gaming experiences I've ever had.
This game is definitely one of my top 3 favorite racing games of all time.

I've been a big fan of TXR, my first experience was TXR Zero on PS2.
If ya haven't by now, you need to play Import Tuner Challenge its basically a TXR on XBox 360.
Made by the same people, it is not exactly a TXR game, but it is, at the same time. The same core elements are there, but it is a slightly different game. When I had my 360, I played the hell out of it. Beat it more times than I can count.
Thanks for the video.
Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero.....that did it for me.
This series was great! Maybe one day they will make a worthy successor.
This is a awesome review! Now i must have this game! Sorry for my english and greetings from austria
If it wasn't for my online touhou fan friend, I wouldn't have found and enjoyed Genki's Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. Though I am having a problem running TXR 3 on my laptop, but I have tried TXR 2 and Street Supremacy. The TXR series is better than going to an arcade and play WMMT. It's more fun than WMMT. The tuning, physics, and the battle mechanics that fused a racing game and a fighting game. I am loving the TXR series.
I LOVED this game! I had Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2, Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3, and I currently have Import Tuner Challenge (TXR on XBox 360)
Tokyo Xtreme Racer was the game which rivals aren't frickin bots and they have personality
Both minor or major rival
I played Street Supremacy which is basicly TXR for PSP
But that game was actually making team and recruit some rivals
Especially, Wanderers are having some unique cars that completely look like from another world
This games graphics aged so well. Looks amazing for a game so old
I got this game back in '05 and even played it initially. But for some reason i lost interest in it, maybe it is because of my age ( i was like 9). But since recently i have been interested in japanese highway racing, i am willing to give another try!
We need one of these companies to step up and make this game again. It was and still is awesome. With todays graphics this game would dominate all others.
I got myself into this game a while back as a kid,I saw it at a video game store when I was video game shopping,a couple weeks after school,I came home to this game as a gift from my mom and I decided to try it and see what it was about and I fell in love,I bought it again after selling it along with other PS2 games which I regret,I completed this 3 times and it’s still my favourite PS2 RPG Street Racing game til this day and it made me fell in love with the 1990s and early 2000s Japan car culture and also made me fell in love with the Shutokou Battle Series
There is mod for Asetto Corsa called Shutoko Revival Project, you should check that out. I've spent my entire life waiting for some sort of modern MMO version of TXR, maybe one day.
I've been on it! Though i stopped after awhile because I wanted to get a wheel. I got one a month ago so ill probably get back on it soon
Zero and 3 wil always be my favorite street racing games. No one understands unless they've played them. I'd buy ps4/ps5 remasters without hesitation. Can you imagine how beautiful they would be? They don't need to mess with any other aspect just the graphics.
Genki Racing Project is gonna make an announcement soon on their website, hope it’s a new PC TXR!
I saw it! A tear ran across my face as I watched the trailer haha. I can't wait to see more from them soon.
There were so many good underground car games at this time. I played the hell out of this, and D1GP
I bought and played this game for years!!! Only GT4 made me put it down in the end... but I loved it to no end... definitely enjoyed the engine swap mod to shove a V8 into a miata... that was a game changer!!! Cheers!!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
I played Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 on PS2 as a kid. Man, I couldn't get off of that game.
Saves the disk from years ago, actually going to play this weekend with my cousins PS2. Can't wait!
Played the hell out of this game back in the day with a shitty thrustmaster ferarri wheel trying to find and beat all the rivals and bosses. One of the best racing games ever IMO.
That must've been HARD with a wheel the way the handling was.
@@dgs.creates yeah, it was hard but not unplayable, it was kinda hard only when it was raining or when my tyres were dead, guess i set up the cars well :-)
I loved the First game! Tokyo Xtreme Racer 1 on Dreamcast still has the best soundtrack to me for racing till this day. I wish we could get a newer official game. especially with the great graphics we have now a new version would be awesome
The purple headlights for the bosses if I remember right
I bought Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero last christmas, i was curious but wasn't expecting much. And even though that was the year I finaly bought ps4 and played ton of new games, TXR:Z was in the end my game of the year. Incredible title, oozing atmosphere, with fantastic gameplay. I could't play anything else until I beat White Charisma, and now I'm having blast looking for all the wanderers ;) I HAVE to find TXR 3 and Drift spin-offs, known here as Kaido racers.
One of my favorite games besides TXR Drift and TXR Zero. I can't tell you how many hundreds of hours I spent on them as a kid. Fantastic games. I used to drive around just for fun, or to hunt for that final boss. Such a cool game. I wish they'd remake it or put it on PS NOW
Love the video man for years i tried figuring out how to work pcsx2 and finding a good video for setting it up. But anyways earlier this year finally got to play txr3 for the first time literally ive spent soo much time into that game. It's made me really like damn, this game came out when i was born and theres only a handful of racing games that are on its level when it comes to details of the setting, the cars, the rims, tuning to an extent and you can design things like vinyl on your car!!! Like that's amazing, also how body kits and aftermarket body mods can affect the weight of the car. Also for the most part the sounds of the stock cars with there original engines are good for the most part. But man theres needs to be a remaster or someone has to do something even 50 percent similar and it would still be good. But hey ya never know🤷🏻♂️ anyways loved the video💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻bc i've been there with how tryhard the AI is but also they are retarded as all get out at the same time tho🤣🤣.
another japanese games that definitely deserves more atention as well are enthusia (konami) fast and furious tokyo drift (bandai) and d1 professional drift grand prix series (yukes, a game studio from osaka, Japan).
thank you for point in out this amazing game i will give it a try!
they really know how to capture that night racing athmosphere, the fog, the lights, small details that makes big impact on the game quality,
This game is the reason why I moved in Japan also that is why I already know how to drive on the shotokou around Tokyo lol
That game need a remake or a sequel !
lucky you. Living the dream. :O
@@KRAFTWERK2K6 follow my RUclips channel I starting to share about my cars story in japan
Fortunately, as of today Night Runners seems to continue what Import Tuner Challenge was meant to be
It seems the whole crew and personality aspect was also ported into the PSP installment "Street Supremacy" which in my mind always was the spiritual successor to Tokyo Highway Challenge 2 on the Dreamcast. Tokyo Xtreme Racer on the PS2 always felt like a completely different game all together.
I still have a copy in the original box for PS2 🤗🤗🤗
The coolest part is that is has a Conquest/Starion like the one I own.
Mann the hundreds of hours of gameplay... I had a trick to flash my lights behind my opponent without breaking and I would always be in front 😏
I played this game day and night when i was a kid in my top 5 racing games ever
One of the hardest bosses is the yellow viper. I think it's a dragon.
This game is so good i have Another Star as my icon. Another Star is a gang that drives Subaru GC8s
I remember them! 22b is my f...one of my favorite cars lol
I spent so many hours playing this game wnlhen I discovered it in ...I want to say 08 09...It made Tokio Drift on PS2 tolerable.Looks like I'm a year late to the party, but good video my guy!
I used to play this game all the time. I remember the boss with the Nissan. He made my hands hurt.
Honestly this looks very similar to the fast and the furious tokio drift game (but with "more content" like more maps etc etc...but less customization)and kaido racer franchise very good vibes and i want to play it
you should tho, played the "third" game in the series and I had a blast playing it, can't say anything about the first and the "second" game
Believe it or not I own this game out of absolute accident, I bought it out of sheer curiosity and I don't regret it, it's one of the things that started my love for tuner JDM cars along with initial D as a kid.
The maps in TXR3 and ITC are absolutely incredible recreations of famous japanese highway loops and i had plenty of fun completing them a few years ago but the TXR game I really had as a kid was TXRD2 and I loved it. I really think they got the handling right in TXRD2 which you can't exactly say about the other TXR games. It gets better when you realise they kept the speedbumps on the roads and had them affect your car for that genuine touge experience. It's a game I've come to appreciate more and more over time.
I've actually been casually playing txrd2 casually for the past few months! I'm currently at a point where i just have to grind to 30 medals to get the next wanderer so it's killing me internally but the game is honestly fantastic. I honestly thought in my head for years "how could txr physics work in a drift game oh god" not realizing Kaido Battle is an entirely different game lol. its fantastic and I wanna review it too. unfortunately i still suck at drifting but I'm getting better bit by bit.
FluffyTheKami when you're on controller the key to drifting is to not make adjustments unless you have to, the cars will usually be happy to continue the drift if you let go of the left stick
oh and the c-level is easily the worst part of the game, that's just a massive grind to be able to enter the special events for prizes
oh really? I'll actually trying giving that a shot. So all I have to do is just turn in and let the car do the work? interesting
TY for the Vid, wish there was a phone app or an updated graphics version, it was so much fun to play on the console
The three main cars in the intro are based on real tuner cars. 0:46
The Blue Ridox Supra MK4. The Black West Corvette C4. The Red MCR Skyline R34.
Yes. Ridox Supra is representing Osaka area, West Corvette C4 is representing Nagoya area, & MCR Skyline GT-R R34 is representing Tokyo area
14:15 that sucks when you goob it up at the last minute and lose with them having like 1% left lol.
Also love the rival descriptions, especially on the wanderers which usually give you hints on how to get them to race you. One of them rejected me, so I checked out his description and it pretty much said "yeah this guy doesn't race slow shitty cars" which hurt since I thought I had a fast car lol
Ah, the game I never figured out how to do engine change in.
Still perfect.
There is a guy on youtube remaking this on Unity Engine. Night Runners is another TXR inspired game being developed
It's never gonna come out.
I remember when i found out the hack about putting the little bird to hang from the rear view mirror lol
This is one of my favorite racing games of all time. My only gripe is the weird times you unlock cars. Like having a 700hp evo unlocked before a civic that didn’t break 500hp. Why would you ever use 90% of the cars if they are slower than your beginner car choice. At least in xtreme racer three you can do engine swaps to make up for it.
Txrd 1 & 2 had most of these things too. Personal favorite was txrd2 because they fixed the handling but my first game was txrd which I picked up as soon as I was gifted a ps2. Me and my brother could pick a game to buy when we got to the store I picked txrd and he picked resident evil outbreak both unknown underated games in their own right
