The scene when Yayan Ruhian (aka Mad Dog) and Cecep Arif Rahman help Johh Wick to his feet originally had John quickly getting back to his feet on his own, but after doing multiple takes of the fight, Keanu Reeves was so exhausted that he couldn't, so the two Indonesian actors helped him up while staying in character as the camera kept rolling. The director liked how that played so much that he kept it in the movie.
In lore too, it would make sense. John is not only rusty, but did not have time to rest or heal properly either. Cecep and Yayan's characters respect John so much as a fighter, that they're willing to bring him back up for a more fair fight. Love this franchise.
I think the scene with the doctor (where John shoots him to make it look like he was coerced into helping John) is there to hint at what happens at the end. It establishes that an experienced killer in their profession knows how to shoot someone to make it look like they were attacked but to not actually kill them. Winston is still on his side. That's why he was so sarcastic/blase with the Adjudicator when she talked to him about the missing body. Plus the trailer for JW 4 shows John and Winston speaking cordially together.
The final fight between John and Zero reminds me of what someone (I can't remember his name but I think he was from the 1600s or so) who was famous for his exhaustive writings on sword fighting said. He said that when two fighters were equally matched in their skills with the sword, the winner was usually the one who was the better grappler.

There's a theory that Winston's been planning this since John's wife died (probably even was responsible for her getting sick, but I'm not sure about that because they never stated exactly what caused her death).
I'm not convinced it was preplanned, but Winston definitely anticipated that the adjudicator was about to ask him to kill John as proof of loyalty and cut her off so that his "failure" couldn't be regarded as a failure to carry out a test, it was instead merely a failure of something he "did on his own initiative" and so couldn't be punished for. Hence the "well played" comment.
The scene when John assembles a revolver choosing parts that fit and function best together is an homage to a scene from the Clint Eastwood/Segio Leone classic western "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly." It also makes sense because those guns had been assembled to be put on display in a glass case, not for function, and with the crude manufacturing techniques back in the days when those guns were made, the fit and alignment of moving parts wasn't particularly consistent.
The scene where John was disassembling revolvers and reassembling one from the pieces may have been an homage to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. One of the characters is offered multiple revolvers, and he keeps taking them apart for what he saw as the best pieces of each, and assembles unique revolver from those pieces that was the best for his preferences. John was probably taking the opportunity to not just find any weapon that works, but took the extra time to give himself the best weapon he could. He’d need it.
Huge respect for Halle Berry after this movie, she put in the work and the time at the range and took the role very seriously, she wanted to deserve to be next to John Wick and she nailed it.

John and Winston couldn't just kill her as well cuz that would risk a drastic consequences with no chance to absolution from the table. So it was all just a strategy to negotiate with the adjudicator by making her giving up and grant them absolution by consideration on the rules

But, to have a counter-power, I think there was a military figure attached to each zone inside the Empire and this one kept its powers, so an adjudicator couldn't do anything against him. Since the John Wick serie gets some of its elements from Antiquity (excommunicado, deconsecration, adjudicator), we can imagine the whole underworld organisation is loosely based on it and so, the adjudicator in this movie is working in the name of the High Table with all powers and supreme authority and even just hurting one is a very bad idea, it would be like hurting the High Table members ; and of course, there's certainly more than one so killing her will just trigger the arrival of another adjudicator and prompts an immediate war. For the coin, it's more a symbol than a real currency since with one you can get a drink at the Continental bar or make a body cleaned by specialists. Keanu and Halle trained under Taran Butler in Colorado, champion of "3 Gun Shooting" using pistols, shotguns and rifles. Taran has a company called Taran Tactical where he trains other people to do the same. He's able to empty a clip of 6 bullets by shooting 2 bullets per target, reload shoot 2 bullets per target again under 3 seconds. Her also trained Tim Ferriss in "The Tim Ferriss Experience" show. Highly recommended watch. Taran has been training Keanu since the first movie.

John didn't cut of Zero's fingers, he stabbed him in the axillary artery, then took two shots at arteries in the thighs; the blood dripping from the glove is from that first stab. To be fair Zero'd never have lived as long as he did with even just those cuts (arteries like that bleed **a lot**, but movie magic 'n' all). John had already really won at that point, the rest of the fight was simply desperation.
I haven't seen part 4 yet but it seems like Winston being either still a "good" guy or a bad guy is 50/50. Maybe he knew "where to shoot" but he could hardly predict the fall wouldn't kill him. On the other hand, over three movies it is hard to believe he would just turn on Wick that easily. He could have just killed him when Wick shot Santino in his hotel. Instead he helped him, inviting the High Table's wrath onto him.

It's pretty clear Winston is playing the long game. At that range, he could easily deal a couple of headshots to John's head. But him choosing to deal body shots knowing John is wearing bulletproof suit pretty much shows where his allegiance lies. It could very well be that Winston wanted to change the entire structure and rules and he's using John as his "weapon" to either incite change or completely outright destroy the structure. Officially, there's a John Wick 5 announced so who knows where the story goes in John Wick 4 although a few clues have been given from the trailer. I, for one, just want to see Donnie fight against Keanu. That would be one hell of a fight choreography.

They break so much glass in this movie I had to go see who the director was because I was getting that very familiar Paul Verhoeven feeling. 29:17 "he's not gonna do it", exactly and that is what makes this movie a very entertaining waste of time. It's a great movie, it's a very fun adult version of jangling keys for a baby but for the series it's pure filler because the plot moved backwards by 2 steps by the time the movie ends.

John didn't cut of Zero's fingers, he stabbed him in the axillary artery, then took two shots at arteries in the thighs; the blood dripping from the glove is from that first stab. To be fair Zero'd never have lived as long as he did with even just those cuts (arteries like that bleed **a lot**, but movie magic 'n' all). John had already really won at that point, the rest of the fight was simply desperation.

I haven't seen part 4 yet but it seems like Winston being either still a "good" guy or a bad guy is 50/50.
Maybe he knew "where to shoot" but he could hardly predict the fall wouldn't kill him. On the other hand, over three movies it is hard to believe he would just turn on Wick that easily. He could have just killed him when Wick shot Santino in his hotel. Instead he helped him, inviting the High Table's wrath onto him.
John was wearing a bullet proof suit. Winston knew that. That is why Winston only aimed for the body. Also with the way it ended. John is somewhat safe from being hunted. And now can go after the high table. with more anonymity.

NO, they made the rules and they have followed them, but they (john, winston, bowery) broke them, one of the rules is never take it personal, I mean, I think that's an assassin's rule of thumb. Winston and John did. Plus John went thru all that to get back in, then break the rules again, that makes no sense. So no, it's funny haw folks complain about the rule makers but majority of the time the same ones, want people to be punished for breaking the rules except their friends. "It's business, not personal". People always want to take out the "top dog" except when it's them.

It's pretty clear Winston is playing the long game. At that range, he could easily deal a couple of headshots to John's head. But him choosing to deal body shots knowing John is wearing bulletproof suit pretty much shows where his allegiance lies. It could very well be that Winston wanted to change the entire structure and rules and he's using John as his "weapon" to either incite change or completely outright destroy the structure.
Officially, there's a John Wick 5 announced so who knows where the story goes in John Wick 4 although a few clues have been given from the trailer. I, for one, just want to see Donnie fight against Keanu. That would be one hell of a fight choreography.

They break so much glass in this movie I had to go see who the director was because I was getting that very familiar Paul Verhoeven feeling.
29:17 "he's not gonna do it", exactly and that is what makes this movie a very entertaining waste of time. It's a great movie, it's a very fun adult version of jangling keys for a baby but for the series it's pure filler because the plot moved backwards by 2 steps by the time the movie ends.
