I'm sorry, but while I agree with some of the ideas here, it is also an extremely exaggerated, fear mongering, right wing assessment of the situation. Yes, universities tend to lean left, mostly liberal, (which unlike right wing talking points would have you believe, is a very moderate left ideology, the most dominant ideology in the modern western world, and one that has helped create much of what makes America America), but they are not these radical far left institutions pushing for marxism, and communism, that some people make them out to be. Specifically, in terms of these protests, they're talking about ivy league universities, or schools like NYU, which charge 6 figures to attend, and produce more people at the top of capitalist/corporate America than any other schools in the country, make sense of that.

I don't know much about this Konstantin guy, but the blatant example to me is MAGA. I'm 40, and in my lifetime, there has never been such a large, mainstream, cult like political movement in this country. You don't see millions of people waving Biden/left wing figure, flags, decked out head to toe in Biden clothing, buying Biden bibles, sneakers, coins, cards. You don't hear people saying things like Biden was sent by God. There are absolutely people on the left who are radical and take things to extreme measures, but even in the example they're talking about, that's a small percentage of students at a handful of universities, that's a very fringe population compared to MAGA. So to act like this is some type of left wing phenomena is crazy

We allowed leftists to proliferate colleges, media and the arts. It was just a belief that they were more creative. Now the society is shifted left. Not all the people but education and the folks that make movies, music and write books. To some extent every single person with a degree has had to sit through hours of leftist propaganda. They had to learn it or not be given their diploma. Even if they thought it was nonsense they were exposed to hours and hours of the stuff.

I'm not going to try and defend either side both have their pros and cons. But I think what has been missed or lost is that the protest is or should have been about stopping a genocide or ethnic cleansing from happening in Gaza. That is pretty simple and pro Palestinian and not anti-Israel.
That is happening, has been an objective and it's been happing to Palestinians since 1948.
In 1945 Palestinians were the largest percent land owners about 30%-40% to Jews 10-15% in about eight district from memory.
Those Palestinians lived there for thousands of years. The UK gained control of Palestine from the Ottoman Empire after WW1. In 1948 the UK granted European Jews Palestinian land partly for a European crime during WW2. Based on ancestors who lived in Palestine for a couple hundred years 3,000 years ago. When other people also lived there before the Jews 3,000 years ago and since. Native American's might have a claim and good case against the United States then. The Indian Removal Act was passed in 1830. The UK wasn't just being generous. If say the UK or US wanted to attack a country like Iran with US F-35's how would that happen from the British Isles or North America? It couldn't. But today US F-35's can reach and attack Iran. The story is all history including the Anglo-Persian Oil Co. concessions back around 1909 and oil in the 2000's.
This is partly true, but under British rule of former Ottoman lands, the Jews have been settling there in small numbers long before WW2 and also subjected to Arab violence long before too. You're leaving out a massive part of the story that the Israeli State founded in 1948 if I remember correctly, was attacked by Arabs first and then Palestine proceeded to lose most of it's territory in a war they started, a bit like Oct 7th
Joe and Colin are for sure totally one siding this conversation. Like you, I don't have much of a stance in terms of this conflict, I'm not informed enough. But, regardless of the history, or what happened on October 7, I think it's fair to say Israel is open to a lot of fair criticism, and protesting what they are doing is not some crazy radical left notion

No offense, but we really need to start understanding political ideology in this country and stop listening to stupid media talking points. I always hear about how liberals are pushing marxism and trying to make this a socialist/communist country, trying to take your freedoms, and all this other crazy stuff which is just uninformed and incorrect. Liberalism has been the dominant political philosophy in the modern western world and helped create so much of what makes America what it is, and what we claim to love about it. Capitalism, and economic freedom are core tenets of liberalism. Liber, the root of liberalism and liberty, literally means freedom! Liberalism was created in direct opposition to authoritarianism and monarchies, and theocracies, as well as conservatism which held up institutions, and "divine and natural" laws that control people, and denied the individual. Liberalism opposed this and supported democratic ideals in which people had individual liberties, and people decided the laws that should be adhered to. Universities tend to be very liberal, they are surely not socialist/marxist if they are charging $90,000 to attend which schools like NYU, Columbia, where these protests are occurring, do. I'm sorry that makes no sense.
So let me get this logic here: There's these institutions that charge people 6 figures to attend. And people pay that because these institutions create the most highly qualified and sought after professionals in the world. People with these diplomas FILL the top levels of corporate America, CEOs of the biggest corporations in the world, as well as Wall Street, and the top banking and financial companies, also the leaders of the scientific world, medicine, engineering, etc which are HUGE industries themselves, and also the lawyers, judges, and politicians who work hand in hand protecting the interests of all these corporations. And all these people are making 6,7,8,9 figures with diplomas from these institutions, and then sending their children to these institutions to continue the cycle of wealth. And these are socialist/marxist/communist institutions, pushing those ideologies??? Interesting. That seems like the most bizarre, conflicting narrative I could have imagined, but I'm sure the guy from Fear Factor and the guy from SNL got it right!

Talk about a cult like following, one that listens to anything their leader says no matter how ridiculous and untrue it may be! Not to mention, who do you think Russia has been trying to manipulate Americans into voting for? Nobody on the left, it's Trump. And which party/ideology is pushing Russian propaganda? MTG is pushing it on the floors of Congress, Trump pushed it when he was in office, Tucker Carlson and Fox push it in the media landscape. We can always seem to see these behaviors from the other side, but are totally blind to it on our side
That's what I had to survive throughout the awful leftist public school system all my life! And still I graduated from community college and work full time company jobs and union jobs! I'm capitalist, I try and that's saying a lot nowadays!

The public school system is not some crazy radical left factory, if anything it is liberal which is a moderate left ideology, the right just wants you to believe liberalism and these institutions are far left. A lot of these universities sure ain't radical left, they're capitalist, money making machines! Sure, some students and faculty may be further left, but the institutions as a whole aren't, if they were it would be directly affecting there bottom line negatively, which makes no sense. I also find it ironic that you say you are a capitalist, but you work union jobs. Unions come from, and are supported by the left, and technically are in direct opposition to free market capitalism.
