Also, In an interview with Larry King, George Carlin mentions how he only likes to punch up never down. Which is why you see many of his jokes are against the rich, republicans, white people and religious conservatives. I especially liked his take on American bullshit, advertising bullshit, food advertising bullshit, organized religion bullshit, and his bit called, "people who aught to be killed". I love it! P.S. And one of his famous lines: The men who created our country were "slave holders who said all men are created equal", one of my favorites. He was so good at revealing the hypocrisy in our world. I saw him in 1983 at the old Chateu de’Ville in Framingham Massachusetts. Leon Redbone opened for him. I grew up listening to all his records and knew his act forwards and backwards. Because of that, my Dad and friends got up just a minute before he finished and left outside a side door to beat the crowd. We were walking down a hallway, heard the applause, and then ahead of us out comes George being escorted by two other guys. Walking towards us, I stopped, said hello, shook hands and told him I was one of his biggest fans. He thanked me and went on his way. To this day, my favorite comedian of all time. Planet, species, race, nation, state, religion, party, union, club, association, neighborhood improvement committee; I have no interest in any of it. I love and treasure individuals as I meet them, I loathe and despise the groups they identify with and belong to.”
      ― George Carlin, Brain Droppings
“The larger the group, the more toxic, the more of your beauty as an individual you have to surrender for the sake of group thought. And when you suspend your individual beauty you also give up a lot of your humanity. You will do things in the name of a group that you would never do on your own. Injuring, hurting, killing, drinking are all part of it, because you've lost your identity, because you now owe your allegiance to this thing that's bigger than you are and that controls you.”

Government wants to control information and control language because that's the way you control thought, and basically that's the game they're in.”
      ― George Carlin

Here they were, banding together in packs, so I could predict what they were going to say about some event or conflict and it wasn't even out of their mouths yet. I was very uncomfortable with that. Liberal orthodoxy was as repugnant to me as conservative orthodoxy.”

Had all his albums, basically had the first four memorized, used to recite them to my buddies in study hall had them in stitches. His first 4 albums went at least gold if not platinum and that was unheard of for comedy records. The thing that made him unique was his comedy was like a play with a lot of acts; each act had a theme, a plot, and a punchline. And no he was not any sort of philosopher, he was there for one thing and one thing only, to make you laugh. He did have his views on life but when he was onstage he had one mission, get you to laugh. And no one, no one, did it better. Or even came close. Lastly yes he started smoking marijuana age 14 and went through pretty much every drug out there till later in life he got clean. Miss him, he helped me see life for the humor not the bad.

I had the awesome experience of seeing Carlin in Sacramento in 2008. He stated right up front that he was prepping for an HBO special and that he might stop during the show and write something down if it was funny and new and he thought it might be worth keeping. I thought it was incredible to be in the presence of his creative process while laughing my ass off. I will never forget that show. Carlin was a comedic genius.

Nah, his takedowns of a loser like trump were great! Good for him for not being silent. George Carlin would have had a great time mocking trump had he been alive just as he mocked Reagan and George W Bush. Carlin said this in his autobiography: "The election of Ronald Reagan might've been the beginning of my giving up on my species. Because it was absurd. To this day it remains absurd. More than absurd, it was frightening: it represented the rise to supremacy of darkness, the ascendancy of ignorance."
