  • Urine leakage is one of the more annoying and embarrassing things that can happen to us after childbirth, especially in midlife. Today I'm talking about the most common forms of urinary leakage, and especially focusing on nonsurgical ways to manage this difficult problem. I'll be introducing you to the Emsella chair, which is a fantastic option to strengthen pelvic floor muscles without the effort and exhaustion of doing Kegel exercises yourself.
The Emsella chair electrically stimulates your pelvic floor muscles for 30 minutes- which is way more than any human could complete on their own -and over the course of six treatments we see up to 80% of mild stress urinary incontinence cases completely resolve or significantly improve. Having had this procedure myself, it allowed me to avoid having surgery, so I'm excited to share my story with you and also show you how the machine works!

I had a sling put in 2012. No incontinence when sneezing/laughing, but urge incontinence when I am at the toilet, pulling down pants, keys at the door, etc. It's maddening! I also have fecal incontinence as well. Fun!! Have an appointment today with the EMSella chair, hoping it works for both fecal and urine incontinence. But from what you said it doesn't sound like the chair will help with the urge incontinence 😢.

Thank you for sharing this information! I recently quit drinking caffeinated tea, hopefully I will pee pants less. Once at work, I got the lace on bottom of camisole caught in jeans zipper and nearly really peed my pants. I also read melatonin can make you pee your pants before you make it to toilet in night. I drink herbal teas and some of the ingredients can also increase urine, like hibiscus 😮. I gave the pound of hibiscus flowers to my daughter, cause I was having problems of not making it to the bathroom.

That's a difficult problem. Thank goodness there are so many options to fix it and even if you need surgery that's fine we just need to go away.!!

Thanks, now I finally understand what is happening with my bladder. I have urge incontinence. Sometimes I can't make it to the bathroom without leakage. I take a med for it, but I can't take it every day. I take it every second or third day. It dries out my sinuses so much as well as my vagina and eyes, mouth, etc. I use a hormone cream for vaginal dryness so how does that make sense, to take one med that works against another one? I'll ask my doctor about this treatment.

Hi, would this chair help someone when the bladder is way out , and the cervix has also dropped as well which is excruciatingly painful.? And that's with a pessary. My gynecologist told me I could do thousands of kegals a day and it would not make a difference.

Unfortunately, that would be a surgical problem would not be corrected with the Emsella chair

I was told that the sling is only effective 70%of the time. Is this what your research shows?

It depends on the patient and the severity of incontinence, but in my experience, the cure rate is much higher than that!
