What a great interview! So many good tips especially about urge incontinence. There are many products out there now helping with incontinence, such as pads and leak-proof underwear, but it's always best to address any problem at the cause. Thank you Alyssa and Betty.

Very interesting! Thank you for sharing.
Some really helpful tips. Especially the exhaling on exertion while getting up from bed or sitting.
I know drinking enough water is something I'm trying to work on.
I do notice if I drink too close to bed then I'll be up pretty much all night running to the bathroom. And with stiff legs it's not really running, but you get my point. 🙂

exactly, i think this is more of a common problem than people think too which is why I had her on as a guest. Urinary urgency and painful, stiff joints don't make things easy!

Medicare will pay for PFR- pelvic floor rehab. I had it in 2012 at age 65. Now 77 and plan to get thè therapy again. Being sedentary over COVID has definitely affected me.

Thank you for sharing this video! It’s harder and harder to get my mom out of the house for this reason. I am going to share this with her tomorrow. I am hoping this will give her confidence to get out of the house again

This was super interesting and I’ve learned some helpful, things I’ve never heard of before- so thank you so much! Dr. Betty, you have lots of great information… (I keep having to go back and replay because he talks super fast, and it’s just hard to follow. Just an FYI.)

Any info on how a bladder prolapse affects this issue and any hints, tips for helping this?

Pelvic floor rehab can improve some cases of prolapse. I had the rehab technique in 2012. It was great for over 10 years. Now I'm 77 and planning to return to doc for PFV again. I was way too sedentary during COVID .P.s. Medicare covers this.

However much you drain your peg the last drop always gets your leg. When you are peeing stop and start the urine flow so you realise what the muscles are you use to stop and start peeing, then when you have completely finished, exercise those muscles about 5 times at each pee.
