subscribe! you know I'll be covering haunted choclatier when it comes out!
From what I remember, the advertising for witchbrook said “from the publisher of Stardew Valley” they were actively trying to use Stardew’s success to sell a completely unrelated game by misleading people who might not know publishers aren’t connected to the development process.
Ah yes
The natsume strategy
Damn Stardew and Harvest moon really do have so much in common lol
It’s harvest moon and story of seasons in all over again
@@MetronaJa rare Strikers reference, you sir have good taste
sounds like the truth though
He also said that once he announces something, it lights a fire in him to actually do it. I think that was in the Reason interview he did a while back.
wow. another video about chuckle fish and why concernedape cut them out wouldn’t be out of place!
did chucklefish do something wrong? or did CA just want to do stuff by himself?
@@inspectorspindachucklefish did some sketchy things yeah
@@inspectorspinda If you are interested in some of what they have done wrong - look into "Starbound Chucklefish controversy".
Chucklefish is.. sketchy at best.
Many games distanced themselves from Chucklefish after that.
@@jessehunter362 I heard about how they pressured volunteers helping with Starbound to remain as unpaid volunteers despite giving them projects that consumed more and more of their time.
@@inspectorspinda(this is genuinely what happened, I am not exaggerating a single bit) they made false promises to underaged unpaid volunteers to make them work and didn’t credit their work even though most of the art in-game is made by them, they promised that that volunteer job would open up a ton of connections to game companies in the future when in reality they had absolutely no plan of giving that opportunity to the volunteers
And the madlad is still trying to update SDV while working on HC. We're unworthy.
The only thing we can do is play hundreds of hours to make sure we don’t waste this gift
@@SuperCoolZomb1e I'm doing my part!
Facts
@@SuperCoolZomb1e i, sadly, only have 95 hour of playtime, most of it being 1.5.....
Mainly cause i want to play other stuff and i got siblings to take care of but oh well
@@IExistAndMyNameIsKawaiiAngel don’t let the playtime numbers get you down! most people don’t have enough spare time to get 200+ hours in any given game.
Honestly, when you create one of the most successful indie games of all time as a solo developer Imma just trust your instincts when it comes to game dev and advertising 😂
Man I had no idea. I kinda assumed it was so that people would stop wondering when the next SDV update would be 😂
It is the next stardew Valley update cus I'm pretty sure it is the same game
@@evanbyrainNo, they’re separate games. CA is working on a new update for Stardew Valley but it’s entirely separate from Haunted Chocolatier
I think I read in one of his development posts that it was in the same universe, but HU is a completely new game from SDV.@evanbyies6555
@@evanbyrain This game doesn’t have any farming in it tho
Well you got your answer 2 days ago 😂
"All the way back in 2021” ouch
don't...
still can't get over the fact that 2019 was 8 years ago...@@aerosma5021
That single sentence made my back hurt, my bones withered, my hair started graying and I instantaneously morphed into a wizened old husk. Weird.
What do you mean its not 2020???
I’m so excited for Haunted Chocolatier😭💕
What's wild is that I first heard about Witchbrook in 2018 and it still isnt' out.
That's chucklefish for ya. When it releases it's gonna be half a game, get 5 content updates and then persist for all eternity as 3/4ths of a game.
Par for the course for ChuckleFuck
@@CommandantLennonare they that bad? I mean I guess it should be telling to me that the ONLY reason I even know about chucklefish is BECAUSE of ConcernedApe and Stardew Valley. lol
They made Eastward which is one of my all time favorite games
@@pixelforg they did not make Eastward. Pixpil did, ChuckleFuck was the publisher. The fact that I had to Google the game to find that out is a testament to how bad they are as a publisher. Bad marketing
SDV 1.6 is wrapping up. Really hoping that means Haunted Chocolatier is a spooky Fall 2024 release, but that’s maybe wishful knowing how perfectionist Concerned Ape is. At least we know the game will be amazing when it finally does release
I think it’s going to be longer than that. He did say he was the only person working on it so it was gonna take longer.
what makes you think it will be amazing?
I have seen very little of the game other then the looks.
@@ryanclemons1 he’s shown off little bits & pieces! & if it’s done by concerned ape - we have a pretty good idea of how good his work is so I think people are making pretty fair assumptions about it.
Pffttt no, it'd be more like a fall 2025 release, and even that is pushing it imho
@@ryanclemons1i think people are thinking it’ll be amazing because he’s proven himself as a great developer and the concept is really cool too
Gonna change his channel name to Hauntie Chocew
Chucklefish produces amazing games because they find amazing people to underpay
You say that but they also completely fumbled what they had with Starbound, making a 180 from the original vision, ripping out well established mechanics late in beta and shoved a linear story into a sandbox game
@@Icebelly_ They fumbled it due to various reasons relating to chucklefish
@@Icebelly_ I still remember the update that removed hundreds of lore books and dumbed down the universe to make it more "kid friendly"
Some higher-up marketing "genius" did this. No developer would willingly destroy their own game like this
So that explains why so far back in my memory of sdv I saw an orange fish
I think he just wanted people to know that there would be less big updates to Stardew Valley going forward.
Like "Hey guys, I'm going to be busy with my new project so I won't be able to update Stardew Valley as much."
Instead of saying nothing and everyone wondering if a Stardew Valley is dead or is expecting a big update.
Yes, cause that tweet shown wasnt from concered ape! It was from his evil clone!!
Then proceeds to give us huge updates for SDV 😂
Now I have to add two games to my wishlist
You mean 1 right?
I would love to buy haunted chocolatier(sp?) When it comes out for sure. Been looking to wishlist it ever since I found out about from your videos!
That makes a lot of sense
I see. Well, still getting my butt kicked in Stardew Valley but I'm excited about Haunted Chocolatier. Hey I'm old, don't wait TOO long. ❤️
He announced SDV in 2012 so technically speaking he announced SDV early too.
I’m very excited because he’s making a game all about making my favorite sweet chocolate.
Man I forgot about Witchbrook, I was so excited for the first couple years after its announcement. Is it still in development hell?
Interesting and I also like how in this trailer. It doesn't hype you up too much. It's very mellow and it's presentation and I just I like that. Like I'm excited, but I'm not overly hyped to the point of being disappointed if it doesn't come out anytime soon.
ohhhh i remember chucklefish! i was wondering why they never showed up when you opened the game now
I cant wait for gab to play this game. I cant wait to play it. Idk what its about but its concerned ape so i have no doubts that it will be an amazing game
I beleve the stuff between concerned ape an chuckelfish was that chucklefish tried to take credit for stardew or something like that
as a silksong waiter this doesnt look weird at all. we can wait
I thought another reason for the early reveal had to do with why he would be too busy to update Stardew Valley often. However, Stardew Valley just got a massive update, so I was wrong about that.
I loved this playthrough so much and can’t wait to watch more stuff from you!
:D stardew valley guy!
Witchbrook is actually coming out eventually? I kinda doubt it at this point.
i mean it’s basically teasing it and it’s making me more and more excited and interested so it’s working for me😋
There's probably more to this story, as Witchbrook's art style and whole vibe, even game concept, was very much SV with witches. That's why it seemed like CA was probably the developer or at least involved in some way. Interestingly, Witchbrook has also faced major delays due to a total overhaul of the art direction that happened at around the same time the rumors were going on and when CA started self publishing.
I suspect there was a stink behind the scenes where CA threatened copyright legal action if they kept developing a game that was so indistinguishable from CA's work and brand, which forced them to effectively start over and for CA to cut ties going forward. He's very generous about copyright stuff and modding with the community, but I can imagine that line ends with actual companies trying to stick their toes in his success.
This is one of the dumbest takes ever. CA wouldn't be able to presses charges for "style". Brook doesn't even look anything like SV?? It's a much more detailed and animated pixel art game. Not every pixel art game is SV not to mention the gameplay promised it much different.
@@faimynth6030I think it looked different before. That's what they're saying, it was really copying the look more before the art overhaul.
This was amazing. Thank you for the dedication my dude
And he still got us this amazing 1.6 update! So lucky to be able to play all his amazing work
That's a really good way to seperate himself from the other game. It doesn't require him to say anything about the other dev, so they will ultimately stand on their own.
I like it’s the same animation style it’s so cute ❤
I think Chuckle fish need to bring back Starbound 😢
If Witchbrook ever releases it'll be a surprise. Can't wait for Haunted Chocolatier.
This game leaves my mind for months at a time but then I pops up, I get hype and start scrounging around the Internet for content.
I remember Witchbrook being announced not long after Stardew blew up. Game looked really neat.
Have not heard a single peep about it since, looking like it is vaporware.
so i have to finish baldurs gate, octopath traveler and the ace attorney remaster in an unknown amount of time. great
Another legendary video. It was indeed Buda-ful
Can't wait. This one has boss fight in it!
I can't wait for the release of this!
Huh, I just assumed it was a case of "my stock is still really high right now, but the internet has a really short memory. Let me get word out about the new project while Stardew Valley is still fresh in everyone's mind rather than having to re-catch their eye from square one."
It's the counter for me 🤣
Dudes a solo Developer.. stardew is great I support him.
I was starting to wonder what the heck did NFTs have to do with Stardew Valley.
Turns out I was being confused with "Bored ape"
is it ever gonna come out or is comcernedape pulling all
of our plonkers and has no intention of releasing it?
excited for both games tbh
I know 1 thing and its that haunted chocolatier is going to be a great game
Would be good to have the characters family on Ginger Island & stay in the house there.
Also because he didn't want to be solely known as "the Stardew Valley guy"
I wonder when it will release
I wonder when Witchbrook will ever release. It's been like what.. 7 years?
I'm still excited for Witchbrook. I'm just sad it's essentially vaporware now.
I want to play both! They both look interesting!
I love chuckle fish
kek chucklefish, i wonder if witchbrook ever get released
I want this damn game already
Why that staircase look like Little Nightmares
i’m so excited
The worst thing is, Witchbrook, after ALL these years, still has not a single peep about it. They have barely said anything and barely shown ANYTHING for us, and we still don’t know when it will release. Not even a “in 3 years ETA” - Many believe that the game collapsed and won’t be happening 😭
2021? no way. it feels longer
I'm waiting for silksong for 1869 day
Haunte-dew valley
Haunted Chocolatier? Did Eric predict the Glasgow Willy Wonka experience? 😂
now if we could just get an update on where he is in the development of the game, that be swell.
The only thing chucklefish needs to do is fix starbound
i think i should finish stardew valley sometime
Weird how the harvest moon inspired farming sim cut Ties with it's publishers and causing confusion across the fanbase on who made which games just like the games stardew was inspired by
Game development takes a good amount of time. That's the real goddamned answer.
If CA and Chucklefish are no longer doing business, does that mean that there won't be an update for mobile?
There will be. Pretty its been said that consle and mobile will get 1.6
oh my god, its harvest moon all over again
Oh. So it's kind of a Natsume situation.
Chucklefish is kind of shady. I'm glad ConcernedApe cut ties with them.
Ngl I always thought chucklefish WAS CA's company. The more you know.
Confusion? From Chucklefish? a publisher well known for misrepresenting *who* exactly worked on a project? Surely not
....
Ape also worked with Chucklefish on Starbound, that’s its own whole thing…
I just assumed he would do that to build up the hype.
Granted, I never heard any rumors about that other game, I'm always out of the loop with this stuff
My ps vita stardew has chucklefish 😅
oh my god i’ve been wondering about this to this day. i never understood what happened to witchbrook, i assumed it got canceled or something, not that it wasn’t actually his game 😭
Wow.
Fck yeah.
And Witchbrook is still in development 😂 maybe HC will come faster than witchbrook 😂
I miss when I liked Chucklefish
2021 isnt even that long ago.
The real question is, "why not?". He's far from the first one to announce a game years before it comes out.
Goddamn we've been waitibg for both for so long now
Qhy is this reminded me of Silksong bruh
2025 💀
Chucklefish has/had the potential to be very good, but they've utterly mishandled every release they've been handed, and so it's pretty understandable that CA would move on from them.
Chucklefish seems to have some internal issues that has caused some of the games they’ve published to be super delayed or have missing potential. I’m glad CA cut ties with them. I think he dodged a bullet.
Still upset with Starbound
He just wants investors to come in
Is Witchbrook actually good? I really love the style.
Didn't come out yet
Indie developers who announce stuff way before they come out my beloved
Not a actual complaint dw
isnt it the starbound company
More like ChuckleFuckups. Starbound was a mess of wasted potential
Yeah It was great early on but the slapped on meh story felt out of place. Could've been building the protectorate or something instead of... That mess
Imma be honest, when I saw "Concerned Ape" I thought this was gonna be a crypto-bro self-pwn.
better than silksong
