Great comparison mate, I would prefer the Casio just because I can afford it and I have a soft spot, SKMEI is impressive for what it offers. At this price range I would happily modify the DW5600 for overcoming its weaknesses if it has any, like the straps. Cheers my bud!
I just got my skmei DW-5600 homage/knockoff and to be perfectly honest, first impressions are quite positive. It's way below G-Shock quality, yes, but... It's comfortable to wear and light. You nearly don't feel it on your wrist. DW-5600 bullbar fits on the skmei knockoff. And my reasoning for getting a skmei knockoff is... I work in greasy/oily work environment. My hands and work gloves are nearly constantly soaked in oil/grease, also it's so very easy to bang your watch against something. Oil and grease disintegrate plastic with time and it would be a shame do disintegrate my DW-5500, 5700 or any other casio out of 14 I own. As for skmei... I don't care. I simply do not care if it gets damaged, falls apart or if I lose it. I used to wear my W-86, W-219H, MRW-200H, MDV-106 to work and... W-86 got a nasty scratch, W-219H due to constantly wiping my hands from grease the watch's face/bezel turned from matte to gloss and all incriptions are nearly wiped off, same goes for MRW-200H and the MDV-106 got also some ugly scratches. Also, the strap became more stif, so... Yeah... Makes sence as an absolute beater/work watch you don't have to care about.
That's the perfect use for it, a general wear and tear beater that is so cheap it doesn't matter if it gets ruined. Thanks for watching and enjoy your weekend.
Looks like a decent offering from Skmei. I'd still go for the OG all day every day. Agree with your point about the strap on 5600 tho, it's meh. After using and abusing my 5600 for three years I've recently swapped the tired original strap for a Barton silicone one with Barton's adapters for G-Shock. Those are really good I should say, you might want to try them out. Great video, my friend.
Yeah it's pretty solid for the price but definitely g shock everyday if you can afford one. Thanks for the tip about the barton, will have to try that out. Enjoy your weekend
I own the negative display of both these watches, and have to say the strap on the skmei is much more comfortable. And for the money is a bargain. However the Casio is more legible and feels more premium. I may purchase the standard display Skmei in the future as for the price its a bit of a bargain.
Ha! Re-reading my comment I came across as a bit blunt - sorry! I had the Skmei in full metal case and bracelet mode. A foolish mistake for me and my skinny wrists. Put me off getting any G Shock for ages before I took a punt on a normal 5610, which fits surprisingly well.
@@Chris-du3jc No need to apologise and I was like that too. I bought the same metal one and ended up avoiding all g-shocks because I thought they were going to be massive but owning the 5600 I was really surprised. Glad you enjoy the 5610 too.
Nice comparison, thank you! Concerning your test results I cannot agree on every point. You often say the Casio is more robust cause it feels so. But where is the evidence? I own both watches, the SKMEI I wear since 1.5 years constantly, also for swimming, snorcling, biking, car repears, motor biking etc. The glass got very fast light scratches, interestingly. The other parts of the watch look and feel like on the first day. So I am not shure if under extreme conditions the Casio will be always more robust... .
Try SKMEI 1806 (Casio A-1000 hommage), it has great accuracy mine is about +-0 sec per month. I was really shocked))) It has module produced by Q&Q or smth like that.
The homage is certainly well made and a noticable competitor to the DW5600. If the legibility of the Skmei watch was slightly better I would even argue that it could be considered better than the Gshock. When I wear the skmei 1628 the numbers are a bit blurry at certain angles. It's hardly noticable but noticable none the less. Very nice comparison. Indeed a very honest comparison and I agree with your assessment; even though the skmei is a great watch in it's own right, the Gshock is better and worth paying the extra money.
The G is five times the price, but will probably still be working fine ten years after the Skmei has been relegated to wristwatch heaven. Great comparison video, but I think I'll stick with me Casios !!!!
That is entirely true, I still wear the skmei though for those tasks just too bad for the g as I can't really afford to keep replacing them. Thanks for watching and for the comment
You do not know enything about economy. Because with the price of a g shock you can buy at least 6 skmei s.. That will last at least 12 years if you take them off every two years. And it will be fresh in the next 12 years. ++++ you will have a more comfortable watch in the next 12 years.. And I swear you are not a diver man so you can need the more waterproofness. That is a clear win to skmie
You understandably didn't cover the issue of shock protection in your list; it's hard to measure. But though the Skmei looks tough I think it's a safe assumption that it probably doesn't have the same internal shock protection features as the Casio. Of course most of us won't usually need them and the Skmei certainly looks like it could survive being dropped but perhaps a fairer comparison is with some of the more robust non-G Shock Casios.
Does anyone ever swim 200m below? If you gonna go 200m below, you probably need a real diver watch. 50m is way more than enough, most people don't even snorkel 10m below the water.
from the first moment you can see that G-Shock display is much more visible at angles than SKMEI... G-Shock rules and it is not going to change for a long time...
Absolutely, in some areas it's too close for comfort but they're lagging behind in other areas. Give it a few years and it'll be closer, which is either good or bad depending on your outlook
@@WesWatchRoom Gshock will always sell better even if it gets worse in quality, because the name G-Shock sounds better, while skmei... sounds like dead mouse...
I also have a homage of the 5600 and that is also pretty decent. Costs about the same as the 5600 clone from Skmei but the illumination is way better than the original. Nice video bud!
I own both of these watches (I collect digital watches and have around 30 watches in my vast collection) I am not been funny or clever but the Casio DW5600 can be bought for around £60 GBP (Information correct as of 23rd July 2023) ... £60 is VERY cheap for a watch when you consider you pay £20,000+ for a Rolex My verdict is..Pay the extra few £ for a FAR better quality watch. The Casio DW5600 is worth EVERY PENNY ..Quality is remembered long after cost is forgotten (Not that £60 is a lot of money anymore) The Casio DW5600 is superb value for money for a watch that will last for years.

Hey guys, welcome to episode 7 of watch wars, did you expect the outcome? and would you actually grab either. Let me know. Have a great day guys.
Side note, for the strap comparison - to clarify. The G-Shocks is better made but the SKMEIs is softer and more comfortable. Hope this clears that up.
I used to wear a watch on each wrist but people said I had too much time on my hands 🥁..... I'll get my coat.
Ive been impressed with skmie and sonda watches. Wearing a sanda 6014 on my vacation in Thailand 🇹🇭.
Let's be honest, g-shocks are getting more ridiculous with their pricing, and it's just making them more attractive for fake/knock off suppliers.
Valid point. I don't really pay much attention to the higher priced ones though and I like to stick to the affordable stuff. Thanks for the comment
SKMEIs are for people(me) living in third world countries who needs a beater watch that actually gets beaten and doesn't cost half a year of salary.

The Skmei glass/display is not quite straight with the case. I only really notice it when compared to the Casio that looks bang on.
