@@PatrickBarnard83 Slipknot's identities were exposed before social media was really a thing. I think I first saw some of their real faces and their names, etc. in unofficial books around 2000/2001. Literally only a year or two after they broke out.

I heard this song when I was in 4th grade when it came out. Growing up with two hip-hop heads (my two older brothers) hearing hip-hop elements in this song really flipped my switch into metal.
It’s pretty funny how the opposite happened to me. I got into more hip-hop stuff because of stuff like this.

Clown (founder) said the masks carry a few meanings. To represent who they are inside and reflect it visually & to go through hell on stage (dehydration, vomiting, bleeding, etc.) during slipknot shows inside their masks to this day.
Sure some see it as a gimmick.
But Slipknot themselves saw it as a different outlet to express themselves visually without the ridicule of being judged by what their real faces look like.

@Injustice Served hey man I listen to metal. Slipknot been kicking ass since 1997. But my opinion that the 2009 spit it out was the best because it makes you think that they finally did it. There first time headlining download. It was there dream doing that. It's a special moment that everyone new to metal should see, and feel. I'm not saying this is the only live shit they should listen to. The live version of duality download 2004 or 2005 video was one of the best performances. Or before I forget 2009 rock am ring was a special moment. Or Custer knotfest 2014 was fucken crazy and more. I'm just saying spit it out 2009 download was a special moment and they should listen to it. Plus I'm not saying the 2019 was better or worse. The 2009 one was just a special moment

i live a few miles from where corey grew up, it was an amazing time from the 90s to early 2000s seeing them live when we were all young and could move in the pit all partying together and watching this band blow up.

Studio version is tighter and the rapid fire vocals are better delivered, whereas the live version is so sloppy, it makes it sound like a jumbled mess.
Ok I'll give you that. I like the live version cause you get the energy from the crowd plus the band and for most of these people who have never seen or heard of Slipknot gets to see how they perform live and how Corey Taylor takes control of a crowd.

I'm a pure metal head and drummer (thanks to that drummer of Slipknot) and respect the aspects of the hip hop game as well. Linkin Park was another great influence on that, especially their first album which came out around this time. At the end of the day it's all love here. 💯😡 The metal game be 🔥 tho haha
