Hi, great sounding mic and great video review! I am a student at OIART CAN. We study and test different microphones everyday, including the ones compared in this video. I have already sent the product link to my teachers and hopefully it becomes an addition to our collection. Would love to try this out!
We love omni for acoustic guitar (if the room sounds good!), you don't get the proximity effect so it can keep the low end boom down and really open things up. Great vid Wytse!
Very cool! I'm glad you like this thing. I've been very interested in this mic due to the specs. I was waiting for someone to use it whose ears I trust. Thanks for the advice!
Sounds & looks great! I love the omni setting (in combination with the room acoustics there). Also nice to see George again! :-) Still enjoying the videos, keep up the good work.
I just want to say that it's really nice to see someone streaming at hi res 1 - also want to say I love your channel and all the info - especially the snake oil reviews :) - TY
I was scrolling through my RUclips notifications on my phone so fast that I thought the two mics on the left, in the thumbnail were actually hand espresso grinders 🤣🤣🤣🤣
LEWITT makes really, really great mics! I love my LCT 640. But a 3,5k mic "just" for RUclips voice over seems kind of overpowered. Do you record? By the way: I used the LCT witha UA 710. It worked sinply great. The LCT 1040 is simply beautyful designed and sounds awesome! I hope you can keep it! Insane job by LEWITT!
I think this would be the perfect first large budget microphone… the sound is amazing, but would also like the Neumann microphones in the arsenal… but this microphone just seems like you can tailor it, not just to each song specifically, but the different parts of each song… it’s technically more than 6 microphones by the variables between all the sounds of it… I think the tiny amount your missing in comparison to the Neumann microphones is achievable through your preamp and processing stage… the way it omni sounds for room reflection mind is something incredible… definitely a new studio classic… definitely the one expensive microphone small producers should be thinking about… great stuff, I’ve got it now as a first possible choice on my studio budget list… I mean finding out from the company the cost of the monitors also, the best and most universal products are nearly all here… great time for the studio world!
"Budget" apparently, must be an extremely versatile and relative word! And a $3,500 microphone as a good "first microphone" is not going to resonate as even slightly the last bit fiscally viable for most people's situations! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 I think it offers a lot of versatility at a very high quality for the same amount of money as a Neumann U87. (which is also not a "budget" or entry level microphone! I'd love to have one of these..... But I wouldn't recommend anyone but something like this as their first microphone! No matter what their financial situation..... When you're starting out with something, the learning curve is huge and not everyone will even stick with it. A first microphone should be something that hopefully it's capable of producing pretty decent results as you learn. A good first microphone for example might be a Rode NT1.... Which is a neutral and surprisingly capable microphone at a 1/10th or less if this price!
Mate, I'm a huge fan of your reviews, thanks for taking the time of doing this and spread the knowledge; BTW, could you do a "Snake Oil" video about the new Kirchhoff Digital EQ? 👀thanks in advance!.
Lewitt should have made it so one remote could control 2 mics for stereo - having 2 of these boxes on your desk would take up a ton of room and it would be nice to be able to experiment with sounds/patterns/etc. without having to adjust 2 boxes separately.
What Valerie says is true; you can control two LCT 1040 with one remote. Plus, whenever you buy a second one, you'll have a perfectly matched stereo pair.
Great product.. Great price..... One of my Fav mics is The AKG VR they re-released in the noughts... That was a 10k mic ... So thats my perspective... But for all those getting setup recording studios, at 3k UK Pounds, fill a mic cabinet first..... As if you didn't know.
Thank you for your video, and for the others, too. For better comparison, I think that for guitar loop something else should be chosen, something with more high frequencies, not mainly lower ones with mainly percussive content. That way, we can better compare mics. Personally, my favourite is AKG C414. Lewitt is also great, thanks guys!
I feel like in one way or another some rapper from atlanta is gonna find this video and sample this, make a craxy unexpected beat and be the next hot thing from that moment on.
The 1040 sounds great in Clear mode for modern Rap-Vocals and Autotune Songs, i have compared it to the WA8000, it sounds in clear mode a little bit like it and has the characteristic highend 😊 But you can do much more with it 😅 is has many characters, for example, the warm setting sounds amazing on rnb vocals or thibks like that
Your 414 has to be broken :D Seriously, mine sounds quite different on acoustic guitars. Then again, there are 18376312 versions of the 414, so probably not. Fine review for a really great mic. If it wasn't that expensive...
Really impressive microphone and the samples on the Lewitt site would be even more impressive if they had recorded the piano piece with the correct left / right / lowest to highest piano keys the correct way around 😏 it did my head in hearing it as if I was facing the pianist rather than the keyboard. Surely you must be worthy of a £3,000 'gift'. 😃
Sounds really great for sure. Unfortunately, Lewitt visually looks more like a gaming laptop rather than a nice piece of audio equipment I want to spent 3,5k on…
@@valerie98 I mean not so much the tubes rather than the neon green/ alien looking angles and stuff. I understand it's a new take on things but it's just not my vibe visually
Yes they sure have made a weird choice of visuals. Too sci-fi, carbon fiber, energydrinkish for my taste yuk!. The sound and features are awesome. If they'd release a "traditional" looking line of mics I wouldn't hesitate to buy this.
Its the commercial formula thats hip nowadays, sound colouration. For the sound that other people had on their hit records. If you sum that colouration to the colouration of your lissening equipment.... O let it be. We are talking about degradation right.
I already realized that you had switched the microphone or equed your voice because the oter lewit was too boomy for my taste but i wasn't 100% sure, now i do huehehhee
Hello, I noticed that you recorded the different mic's SIMULTANEOUSLY, as one should, for the most effective comparison. I want to add that your narration sounds very good thru that Lewitt mic as well! Your content is always of the highest standard, so thank-you for another excellent pro audio video.
Why the green Razer-like logo? makes it look like a cheap "gaming" mic. Keep it white or even black for a more premium look. These Chernobyl-like glowing greens make your gear look like toys. Great mic though.
Among those many knobs does it have one with a "Cheaper" setting? Because, regardless of the price-tag value, I find it outrageous that a microphone to be more expensive than a hardware synth, especially when knowing the amount of circuitry involved in a synth.
@Marcotronic somehow I can not see your reply to my comment - only in my notifications. But let's pretend this is a YT bug. First at all, I have ears too. Have you watched Rick Beato's video "perfect pitch and why people lose it"? It's a pretty interesting video on the "I have expert ears" topic. Secondly, I'm sitting in a pretty neat studio with monitors that are customized for the room - which has a reverberation time of 300 milliseconds across the spectrum down to 50 Hertz btw - sadly no Lennart's - but it can't be my humble setup either. Which means it can only be my ears - but I'll make an appointment to see a doctor so I can rule out that possibility too ;)
That was fun to watch. Thanks so much for the great video! In case any questions pop up, please let us know here.

Got the 1040 and am already using it for everything.

That shock-mount looks so overkill lol
It's incredible when you see it from this perspective!
Are you sure it's only the shock-mount ? 😉
There is also a clip included in the package you can see mounted in front of the guitar ;)

@@ramspencer5492 agree. one can buy an lct840, a pair of wa47jrs, an oc818, and an re20/7b and have change left over vs the 1040

looking for all in one mic so check the Townsend Labs Sphere L22.I would like to se what you think about it.
Would need an apollo interface to get the best our of it

You should consider investing in something like mouth de-click. To remove the sounds of the clicking of your mouth.
I admire his mouth-clicking. I can only click using my index finger. How boring.
I think the ASMR community loves it.
Can you do another demo but for rap vocals. I wanna hear the 1040 with a 737 and Neve 1073 raw on a rapper

do a review on Townsend Labs Sphere L22
all hype, it sounds ok
The AKG makes me wanting to save for the LCT 😭😭😭
compare this mic with AT5040 or AT5057 please
The biggest surprise to me was how bad the 414 sounded in contrast to the other mics.
So it's like having a bunch of great mics that can only be used one at a time.
A mic I can´t get.... cause cost.. but I love it.. some day...
