While this narrative on progressive non partisan politics is very much needed, and truly our India is vibrant democracy with opportunities and voice for everyone, we’re still a country fighting on masjid and mandal. Where honour killings are rampant and goes unnoticed. Routine rape of women, extremely parochial attitude of politicians etched in old school thoughts of patriarchy and gender stereotypes. Honestly whatever he is saying sounds utopian and frankly from an elite perspective.
Being in prestigious institutions might bring such progressive thoughts however our India today is a cocktail of elitism at its finest with fine dining and couture and malnourishment and extreme deprivation on the other hand. LGBTQ in Hindu Culture in Ancient India :
    [L]
    - Lesbian Culture is promoted in America as a recent phenomena. In Ancient India, The God Karthikeya was born of 7 Lesbian Nyphs. It also finds mention in Kamasutra.
    [G]
    - Including Gay people in Army in America was a recent debate. In Ancient INdia, Shikhandi, A Gay man led en entire Akshoni (120,000) Troops of Pandava Army on the Battelfield, Not as just a Soldier but "Commander-in-Chief" in the Mahabhara War.
    [B]
    - Bisecuality seems to be a new idea promoted in West. But reality is in Hindu Belief, Men took form of women sometimes. Vishnu took form of Mohini, Indra took form of Sachi.
    [T]
    - Transgender people are still discriminated in America today, But in Ancient India the Greatest Archer - Brihannala defeated an entire Army alone and was hailed as Great Hero
    [Q]
    - Queer behavior, where men prefer to act and dress like women, is a new trend in the West, but it has ancient roots. In ancient India, Hindu gods like Vishnu, Indra, Krishna, and Kama Deva were often depicted with feminine traits by Sculptors and Painters, which were considered an attractive trait by our Ancestors.
We Indians don't need to embrave Western definitions of LGBTQ+, We just have to embrace our own Culture and Roots. Those values were superior to Western Valeus that exist even today.

Gay, straight, trans... It's going to mean nothing, all politicians (especially in Maharashtra) are corrupt. Just look at the complete collapse of basic infrastructure in Mumbai and Pune in the last 10 years. Also all the money and politicians are concentrated in Mumbai, while the rest of Maharashtra is in tatters.

There's a gay politician yes, but i feel like him, just like other politicians are more interested in furthering the issues of his own parties and the ideologies that they are loyal to. It feels like there's a systemic disconnect by this individual from the masses. No matter how much this country progresses, people still have unerasable ties to their religion and caste. Sure, younger generations have more respect and aren't as segregational. But caste and religion still have a massive role in politics.
But at the same time being from a particular party means he isn't extending his criticism to the allied parties.
For an instance he didn't condemn west Bengal government or its obvious stance on rg kar rape till much much later. Which is an apolitical movement btw.
Plus points are: he's a terrific speaker, the words he uses are quite easy to get used to. He's brought up queer rights again and again, as he should, period. But we need more politicians as opposition who are educated and tbh are ready to critize people who are wrong in any given situation, no matter who it is and where they come from. Tbh it feels he's more on the sympathizing end when it comes to errs committed by his own fellow ideology politicians.
