On December 2, 2023, surrounding officers were alerted to a speeding pickup in Eau Claire, WI. Despite initial attempts to stop the driver, he fled at a high rate, causing the police to halt the pursuit for safety reasons. Moments later, the suspect decided to refuel his truck locally following two successful escapes from the police. During this, he was taken by surprise when law enforcement located him again and quickly boxed in his vehicle. Officers observed an open beer can inside the vehicle and discovered the suspect had a prior OWI offense.

I get the point you're trying to make, but I don't see it like that at all. I think the lessor of the two evils is to stop when you see the flashing lights behind you and bitch & moan about the arrest as opposed to felony fleeing while drunk, putting even more lives in danger in an attempt to selfishly escape the consequences.
He fled multiple times. That isn't cooperation.
I think the point is that once he was _caught_, he didn't go into a futile attempt to resist or act belligerent. I agree that is a relief compared to what we see in most other body cam vids.

Police had a weak case and is why they asked questions that would place him at the chase. With no plate number and no ID the police have have no case for eluding. Was the truck dark blue? Gray? Black? They have no proof as to who they were chasing.

When I was 18 I had 8 cop cars surround my car AFTER the first officer found a joint on me.
A guy thought I blew my horn at him and flipped me off and cursed me out the window. I pulled up beside him and said don't get your butt kicked over nothing. Then I pulled away from him. He got on my bumper and would not leave me alone. I sped off to get away from him. When we came in the next town I was surrounded and held and gunpoint by 10 cop cars. Several shouted conflicting commands. I just laid on the ground and put my hands behind my back and refused to move. The next hour each officer took turns shouting where are the guns, where are the drugs, how fast where you going. I wasn't saying what they wanted to hear so they just kept shouting the same thing. My dog was in the truck and I was terrified they would kill her. I would not let them search. Of course they ran the drug dogs around and around. They couldn't get their pooch to fake hit thank god. They finally all left but one. I asked him wtf that was. He said road rage. The guy told us a bunch of bs that called in. Without any proof that I had done one single thing. They harassed me for over and hour trying to arrest me for something. It pissed them all off that they could not. One cop was honest.
I've never seen such docile and professional policing in any other video or in my life.

So while they seam coherent and responsive, they aren't at all coherent. It's evident especially as they're forgetting things that just happened. He probably didn't even remember fleeing the cops. I can guarantee you he won't remember much of any of this outside of what he was told. What you're seeing is his basic mental functions. It is immediately obvious that his frontal lobe is not functioning very well. Seamed very delirious to me.
i blew a 1.9 on scene and a 2.1 later at the station. was completely fine. Testament to how much i drank back in the Army. Only got pulled over because my passenger was drunk taking pictures with the flash on. Passed the test and all that bs - but when I blew, I was like "oh fuck". Drank about 22 beers that day throughout the day. Got lucky and eventually had the case thrown out, but it was a pretty big wakeup call that i could feel that fine while being that "drunk". Gave that shit up quick.

@@crispy3556 he should not have consented to the field sobriety test or breath sample. Most lawyers will suggest you decline these, unless there's been a car accident/injury/death. Sure, you're going to get arrested if you refuse, but you'll be arrested if you consent as well so the only difference is you're giving less evidence for the prosecutor to use against you. They'll most likely get a warrant to force you to take a breath test/get your blood drawn & test it that way, but that buys you some time for your BAC to go down a bit.. unless it's extremely high already, this will probably help you in court and maybe if you're super lucky your BAC will go under the legal limit by the time they get the warrant & test you, and now you're getting a far less serious charge that probably won't involve any jail sentence.

Once he was caught he let the officers do their job. Didn’t resist, was cooperative and didn’t call them names. So glad he didn’t harm anyone with his driving.

I actually got pulled over a couple nights ago for having one of those plastic plate protectors on my truck. I’ve had it for 10 years and nobody has ever said anything. I guarantee he was just checking me out. But he was kind and respectful and just gave me a verbal.
Ever been in St. Croix county? Pffft Hudson PD, New Richmond PD, River Falls PD. Yeah- I moved to the Minnesota side of the river in 1998, then 90 miles north of the Twin Cities in 2001. Class action lawsuit against St. Croix county settled in 2004. I'm glad you have nice cops. Never met one that isn't crooked or dirty myself. 🤷

I sincerely admire an officer’s/department’s willingness to ego check themselves and call off a pursuit when it should be. It shows good communication, prioritizes safety, good decision making, selfless policing, and professionalism.

Most people would. That's why you should always refuse it and just take the blood test at the station. Just because you are brought to the station doesn't mean you are going to be charged with anything. Cops have six weeks of education on how these things work, most of them have no clue how this stuff works either.
Same. I can't do the heel-toe because my quads and hammies are too thicc, they hit each other and throw off my balance. Just give me a breathalyzer and a drug test and let me be on my way. I don't even drink though, so this shouldn't be a problem.

The thing is it’s bull shit , they even tell you it’s not about passing they tried giving me a dui even though I was sober and made a wrong turn in a empty one way street but I noticed almost immediately as I saw the sing on twine wall , flipped it but unfortunately a cop saw me when I was doing a u turn to go back where I was , I got an attorney and didn’t end up getting a dui
