I’ve been using different types of WC media a lot this month. Also breaking out the paint sets I haven’t used for a good while. Showing them some love as we say. 😊 A fellow RUclipsr suggested using the stuff we’ve put away for the latest and greatest during this WCMonth. I loved the idea. Great going with the Poscas mixed media.
Taking the day as it unfolds. Funny how folks still run under trees to get out of the rain forgetting about possible lightning? I loved your last sketch: pockets of colours, linework and hatching.
I enjoyed watching this real life video. It was fun and interesting to watch you be adventurous with different medias to create art! And great suggestions based on that experience! PS: continue giving the kuretake palette a try.... I love mine, both color and paint texture.
What a great job under such difficult conditions. Didn't realise these paints are considered Gouache. I've always used them just as highly pigmented watercolours
Hi Toby. Love this video and your sketches. So inspirational! The fair is in such a beautiful setting, so wish I was there to experience the whole thing with you!
I loved your use of the Posca pens for sketching....and the addition of the Kuretake paints was great! I have some. They took a bit of getting used to but I love the way you can add more or less water to go from opaque to more transparent. Great video😊
You certainly captured the challenges of outdoor sketching! I enjoyed seeing your approaches with different tools and the sketches have an interesting graphic look. Looks like a really nice community fair. 😊
I also have a set of Kuretake Gambai paints. I have the 36 pan set with lots of very vibrant colors. To be honest, I absolutely love them. I am not sure about their light fastness or their longevity, but they wet easily, are vibrant colors, come in full pans, and are a really nice to use. I enjoy them!
Thanks for sharing your adventures there…..I have those paints and love how they can be watercolour like and turning to Gouche w less water. Do you sit on something Toby or just organically on the ground? Cheers!

Inspirational as always. I love your Posca pen sketches.
Glad you like them!
I actually laughed quite hard at your ‘applause’ joke! Really enjoyed seeing you out and about!

Well done Toby. Some great sketches in challenging circumstances! Character building eh?
8:36 My my, it must’ve been raining cats and dogs for mushrooms to sprout on your hoodie 🤣.
