The M3 is an M2 + 15% speed + far better Blender developed 3D graphics. The 15% speedup comes from the first gen 3nm tech from TSMC. During M2 development, it was found the M2 3D graphics were getting hot and draining the battery, so Apple put the M1 graphics back into the M2, fired lots of people and joined the Blender Consortium to sort things out. These two lines of development (TSMC and Blender) became the M3.

I went M3 max instead of M3 pro. Previously I had a 14in M2Pro, and M2 mini. There was little value in upgrading to the M3Pro. The is no perceptible difference between the two. The M3 max came with all kinds of bonuses, you can feel the power difference even in browsers, productivity apps, and virtual machines. However, you can really feel the battery life loss too even in low power mode. You can feel the difference in screen brightness and frame rate on the M3 max. Invest a few hundred bucks more if you can for the max. If not, strongly recommend the 14. M2Pro!!!
I don't comment on videos but wanted to here; I appreciate this video and your angle. I might do a light video edit very rarely but bought this M3 Pro for office work and web browsing. I struggled between this or waiting for the M3 Air 15 next month. I ended with the M3 pro for the future proofing, screen, ports, external refresh rate, and color. It's hard to watch all the video reviews because while I get the unit is focused to content creators and so, there are normal office uses like me that want a great device and will pay the extra few hundred after you consider the Air 15 price after Ram and SSD upgrade. $300 more for future proof and the screen… absolutely in my opinion. I traded in my M2 Air 13 as the screen was a little to small so I know the abilities of the air
M3 pro for videos and office is way too overkill to say the least. If what you were after was a larger screen the 15' air M2 was definitely the way to go, the performance gap is very small between M2 and M3 and in your workflow (of watching videos and office) very much unnoticeable. If you cherry pick features like 120hz refresh rate then even the MacBook pro with the M3 was a better deal, at that point you are just paying more for performance that you won't need at all. If I were in your case I would go for a MacBook Air with M2 and 512/1TB storage .
Same opinion here. Paid extra/wasted the $$ so I could get the 36G to run parallels and a Windows VM because my Windows laptop has been less than 100% reliable. This is more than enough machine, but buy once, cry once is sensible advice because it's not upgradeable. My previous to the previous laptop was a Lenovo X230. I was able to upgrade to SSD, 16G and Windows 10. The replacement was maxed out, I had high hopes, but two years later, regrets. Survey says, Apple has the best hardware. I think it'll meet my needs for 5 years.
I’d go for a refurbished M2 Pro, some people say it’s better for music production because there’s more performance cores. Unless you’re always on the go and need better battery life.
@centereddev @centereddev yes, I watched a video on this regards too. Also, my other opinion is to go for M2 Pro, with 16gb, 12 core CPU (out of which 8 p-core & 4 e-core), which has 19 core GPU too?

I'm having a unique issue recently. I have a M3 Macbook Pro. For video backups, I bought a 16TB external drive. From other drives, I copied about 12TB of files onto that one 16TB drive and, afterwards, the drive would not remount when being reconnected. It remounted in the beginning. I checked. But, after putting about 12TB onto the 16TB drive, it wouldn't remount. I thought it was the Seagate drive, so I bought a Western Digital 16TB drive. Exact same thing happened. Copied some files over. Unmounted it. Plugged it back in. Remounted fine. When I was done copying over about 12TB of files, it wouldn't remount. I found one other person on Reddit experienced the same issue. Tried all the silly (or concerning) Apple suggestions, like plug it into another slot! But, nothing helped. Anyone else having this issue? Don't know if there's a TB threshold for external drives that isn't supported by this M3 Macbook Pro.

What's absolutely crazy about the M3 processor compared to the older Intels, is that a fan never turns on even when you're doing intensive CPU workloads for short amount of time. The older ones you could fry an egg on them and they would sound like a jet engine. If you get one of these make sure you buy as much RAM as you could possibly afford, you may think that 32 gigs is it ridiculous amount but you'll thank yourself later.
I will be using my laptop for uni, a lot of internet surfing, etc, but I also want longevity (at least 5 years). So I know I will have to go with 16gb ram, and since 256gb is too low, the 512gb SSD upgrade as well for the m3 MBA. From there its only abt 400 higher for the M3 pro MBP, which has a better screen, more ports, a faster processor, etc. Is it worth getting the MBP or should I get the MBA?
Only if your course is multimedia or you need to do 3D rendering or coding. The Air with bumped up RAM should do well for most uni tasks, even some video editing as side projects. And you may not think it in the moment, but the "slight" weight difference of the MBA is a plus factor for students or anyone who's constantly on the go. It's not gonna be "slight" if you have to lug the thing around for hours and hours.

@@zaidarafath7859 if you can afford it, always go for the higher priced better-spec'd model. And for me that's 16RAM/1TB at least across the board. I know reviewers always say external SSD would be cheaper, but really, who wants to attach a dongle drive everytime you open your laptop? 😝 Now, whether Air or Pro, it's down to what you can afford or what will make you happy. 😊 Sometimes, for long term use, one can always shell out a few hundred bucks more. Definitely let us know how it goes for you and what you are using it for regularly. I recently "upgraded" from my late 2015 MacBook Pro 15" 4-core i7 intel to a 2019 16" 6-core i7 intel. I went to Best Buy yesterday and came across the 2023 14" 14-core M3 Pro and I am torn now hahaha. Sense would say to get the M3 Pro but ..... I'm old school so why fix what hasn't broken yet, and if it's not broke then don't touch hahaha Anyway, good luck and I would be interested to know your experience(s).

Yes. Even better, you won't be competing with the Microsoft hegemony for customers.
M2Pro!!!
How much gb ram did you go for?
Do you consider $1200 a few hundred bucks? 😂

Exactly what I did too lol considering the price after upgrading the MacBook Air.
Planing for M3 Pro. Is it a good choice for music production, guys?
It's incredible for music production Hope that helps!
I’d go for a refurbished M2 Pro, some people say it’s better for music production because there’s more performance cores. Unless you’re always on the go and need better battery life.
yes I'm using mine just for music production and runs smooth and fast

Could you share How is your battery life ? Because I am going to buy a new laptop, I am a C++ Dev, and want to try a macbook pro m3 16, and watched other of your videos that talk about battery life.

I say get the m3 pro with 36 GB of ram but make sure to get the 12 core option not the base and upgrade the ram.
I got 64GB and dont regret it
I will be using my laptop for uni, a lot of internet surfing, etc, but I also want longevity (at least 5 years).
