We went from rice cookers next to toilets to the kitchen of my dreams, y'all!!! 🥺 This renovation journey through the last year has been a rollercoaster, but I kept thinking with each night sleeping on a floor or dish washed in the bathtub that it will make us so much more grateful when it's all done and it's TRUE. Every time I walk into our kitchen I can hardly believe it's real. The structural wall removal alone could have been $5 - $15,000 dollars depending on how complex the process was. We were quoted $10,000 just for our one structural wall removal on our 2 storey farm house.

Beautiful kitchen! We opted for mostly no upper cabinets as well and will get a more open and bright kitchen with bigger windows instead. Our fridge is stuffed with Korean food, too. It's so delicious

The only area I need a stool for is the upper parts of the pantry but that's mostly occasional cooking items that I don't grab for much. Being able to reach everything has been such a game-changer!!!

Absolutely gorgeous! My favorite thing is probably going to sound crazy but ... I love that it doesn't sound "hollow". You know that empty house echo-y sound? Most of the large kitchens I've been seeing have sounded that way, which, to me, sounds "cold" and not homey. Your kitchen is new, large, and trendy - but sounds homey and welcoming. Congratulations on a job well done!
I have an older home also...would love to take down a wall and expand it? The porcelain counter top.... what a great idea. I love the material for flooring too. The spherical , modern lighting with gold accents and the warmth of the lighter wood... everything came together beautifully..... I will check your materials list.... for flooring and floating shelves along with everything else!

Seeing the kitchen tour vs a pic on IG really shows off all that was renovated and done. I'm actually more appreciative towards the kitchen knowing the thought processes behind each appliance. The glass back door was a great idea to bring in light and conveniently see outside without having to open the door. Can we also appreciate the two sinks idea? I can't tell you how many times I've "fought" over using the kitchen sink with my mom (when the bathrooms were occupied). Living with as many people as I do, having a smaller and separate sink would be worth it. Btw Jen, if you hadn't mentioned you handwrote the spice names, you could have fooled me! Your handwriting is beautiful 😍 Still not too keen on the black theme, as it seems to suck out space and make me feel down. But it is your vision and if you're happy, that is what counts. The only thing I would have suggested is including more higher cabinet space for extra storage. Especially for items you don't commonly use, so you don't have to go reaching for them all the time. Having a collapsible footstool would help you reach them. I have a toddler who loves to go through the bottom cabinets even though she knows she's not supposed to, so sometimes I'll put up dangerous items in the higher cabinets as an easy solution to hide them away, so there is that option. Also, if you run out of storage in the pantry, you have the other higher cabinets to store items away. Plus Ben wouldn't have to bend over all the time 😆 The circular bulbs were a great addition in adding personality to the room 👌 only wish we could have seen the kitchen lit up at night to see the lights at work. Great job, Jen and Ben, interior designers, and manual workers!

Such a pretty kitchen! I really like the design and color/material combo! I just recently heard of the porcelain countertops, I would love to know how good they withstand the daily kitchen work overtime. My dad has marble, and in the areas, it is used often, it looks really washed out already... not really pleasant... The porcelain looks really really nice, I hope it will stay that way! I think next to the fridge there needs to be a pretty picture on the wall!
With two kids under 5 and lots of Korean spices in our kitchen, I didn't want to risk ruining marble plus it has to be sealed and protected regularly. Porcelain doesn't need any maintenance and won't discolor from sunlight either. So far it's been really easy to take care of and all kimchi stains have wiped right off!

My favorite part is the low drawers. I'm reorganizing all my drawers and pantry so it would be cool if you can share that. The white/gray colors are on trend at the moment and looks clean. My preference would be to have the cooktop on the other side so its closer to the sink and prep areas and you can see out into the living area while you are cooking. Are you going to put up window coverings? Congratulations on your dream kitchen!

You have a great eye. I tried to help my parents with their remodel but I just don’t have the vision. But I do share the pain in the length of the remodel process!! 😩 Your kitchen turned out so nicely and it’s so airy and fresh! Enjoy your new space!!
The easiest place for me to start was pinning things I was naturally drawn to in my Pinterest page (you can see mine here pin.it/2v8aQp2 ) which helps so much in seeing the big picture. Even if seeing the "vision" is overwhelming you can still find so many great ideas that way and take little steps to recreate it!
Beautiful!! Our kitchen definitely needs an update ....but it just seems like such a huge project.....what do we even do first? Get a contractor? Get an interior designer? I don't even know what I super like and there's definitely a wall we need to get rid of but that wall supports most our our entire upstairs.....so eeks!!! 😖🙈😖
Walls are a huge pain to remove but it's so worth it in the end! If you are working with an interior designer I would talk to them first to make a plan. They may even help you find a contractor. Once you are clear on what your plan is, then you can plan to hire an architect (creates site plan) and structural engineer (figures out what structural support you will need) which you will then have the contractor use for building everything out. OH, and another thing you can do now if you have an older home is to hire a company to check for asbestos because the contractor can't work until you have that signed off first!

The easiest place for me to start was pinning things I was naturally drawn to in my Pinterest page (you can see mine here pin.it/2v8aQp2 ) which helps so much in seeing the big picture. Even if seeing the "vision" is overwhelming you can still find so many great ideas that way and take little steps to recreate it!

Beautiful!! Our kitchen definitely needs an update ....but it just seems like such a huge project.....what do we even do first? Get a contractor? Get an interior designer? I don't even know what I super like and there's definitely a wall we need to get rid of but that wall supports most our our entire upstairs.....so eeks!!! 😖🙈😖
Walls are a huge pain to remove but it's so worth it in the end! If you are working with an interior designer I would talk to them first to make a plan. They may even help you find a contractor. Once you are clear on what your plan is, then you can plan to hire an architect (creates site plan) and structural engineer (figures out what structural support you will need) which you will then have the contractor use for building everything out. OH, and another thing you can do now if you have an older home is to hire a company to check for asbestos because the contractor can't work until you have that signed off first!
