Thanks Dave! And yes, the Savage is indeed my happy place. I fished the Gunpowder this morning and it just reminded me how much I love the Savage River. :-)
Hey, Matt. I'm getting back into fly fishing after being away for years. Older now so tying can be frustrating sometimes. Your videos inspire me to get back in front of the bench and, more importantly, out on the water.
Wow, thank you for this great comment! I'm glad to hear that you're getting back into it. And it certainly makes me feel good that I'm helping. Thanks again! These kind of comments make my day. :-)
Well thank you Layton! And BTW, remember sending me that bullet head streamer with some kind of cactus chenille extended body a couple years ago? I think you sent me a purple and green one. Well, I broke it out chasing the snakeheads a couple weeks ago. No luck catching any yet but if I do, I'll definitely tie it for the channel. :-)
Good morning Sir Matt, amazing 18, amazing footage. Ooh to have rivers with nice trout in the Texas Panhandle . Very nice ty so thank you and tight lines my friend. Til next time 😊
Good morning Matt. Enjoyed your video while having my morning coffee. Currently in Idaho. Going to be back on the road south in a couple hours. Nice tie this morning and some fish on it too. Take care. Have a good weekend.
Always fun tuning in to see what you’re doing. I haven’t had lots of time to fly fish recently, perhaps because the striped bass are coming back in, so I like going along with you on your peaceful outings. Thanks.
Well I appreciate that Tom! I've been fortunate to have some extra time to fish this fall. I don't usually get out a lot between Thanksgiving and February. But I'll find the time to get a few days on the water. :-)
I like using trigger point for wings on small flies . So basically the same idea. I usually divide the material to make it look like a split wing . Like you mentioned i also tie a thread body for small flies . Especially comparaduns in size 20 . I agree adding the post definitely helps to see the fly on the water. Especially for old eyes . Nice pattern Matt thanks for sharing.
Nice fly Matt. I'm going to work on my synthetic wings. Sure is easier on the smaller flies. I keep tying but I can't get out on the streams anymore. Your fishing videos mean more than ever. Thank you.
Simple Works, And You can fill a box, I just started tying January ‘24 and need plenty of practice, I live in NW Louisiana, (No Trout) but what would You recommend for Bluegill ? Thanks for Bringing me along on the Beautiful River, Enjoyed the Video
Great idea Matt. But I think I'd need help to thread the tippet on a small hook. 🪝👀 It's happened before even when I was younger. Again, beautiful river and fish. 😊 👍
I love tying and fishing simple flies
That is a gorgeous river, Matt
Thanks for the video

Love those simple dry flies. Excellent footage 👏

Great fly and beautiful fish. At 75 I don't get to fish as often, but the white wings sure help. Have a great day!
Sometimes the most simple fly will out perform the most beautifully constructed fly! Great footage!
Well thank you Jim! I appreciate the note my friend. :-)
Thanks Matt! Enjoyed watching. 👍
Great tie and great evening on the Savage. Thanks Matt. Very enjoyable.
Well I appreciate the kind comment Jeff!

Thank you sir! The music is relaxing and inspiring and the fly is a thing of beauty!
Appreciate it my friend!
Thanks for the video Matt ❤ simple 😊 patterns and your fishing videos
Nothing wrong with simple flies. If they fish they fish. And your's look quite effective! Thanks Matt!
@2:00 - for GSP I manually wax it so it isn't so slippery for starting

I darn near needed a magnifier to see you tying that on the screen! 🤣 The faux post is critical for me. Nice fish at the end, too. Thanks!
Haha! Appreciate it Tom. :-)
Thank you for sharing, Matt!!! I appreciate the simple fly patterns. Tight lines my friend! 😎🎣

Nice easy pattern and great fishing it. Appreciate the effort you put in. Have a great weekend.
Well thank you for the note Mark!
Neat fly. Nice looking fish

Great action!
Really nice fish boss and really like quick fly to tie 😊
Well thank you Brian! I appreciate the note my friend. :-)
Thank you for the information and the video.
You're most welcome! Thank YOU for the comment. :-)
@SavageFlies You're welcome
Can't argue with productivity!
Nice!

Wow! Excellent Matt😉☕️☕️
Was that your sage 3wt. With a 6X tippet🤔 beautiful fish😉
No that was a G. Loomis I picked up in Shenandoah back in August. But yes, a 3-wt. 😁
Getting old? Really? You young whippersnapper!
Nice fly.
Hahaha! Every year something new just reminds me that this getting old thing is no joke. :-)
@ Sigh. Quite so. If we only knew then what we know now.
Not only is that a fishable fly but it’s a fish catching fly! Size 20 is about as small as I’m willing to tie.
Similar pattern is always first out of the box when I don't know what else to try usually a Dunn color
