    Even with over 20 years of saltwater fly casting experience I find this video series informative and a good review of our art from. Like Flip says you can buy a fly rod but you can't buy the skills, it takes hard work, dedication and practice.

      Episode coming on practicing and he quotes Flip as you do. Thanks and stay tuned.

    Just was gifted my first fly rod (Clearwater reel + 9ft rod) for NE Striped bass. Pretty pumped for it. This channel has been incredible and taught me so much as I practice on my home. I’ll be buying from the store instead of Amazon - gotta support your business. You’re giving out great knowledge and many of us are thankful!

    Thanks for Sharing Brian, you've been the single most helpful resource I've found. Feels like I'm the only one with a fly rod here in Yamba NSW Australia. Whiting/flathead/luderick are the target fish here at the moment. Would love to see some more saltwater fishing! Cheers

    Brian your videos are the reason I bought my first fly rod! Great content. I'm curious where I can find that lefty instructor rod? Is it even still produced?

    • @Madriveroutfitters

      And hopefully you bought from Mad River Outfitters.....based on our great content. You'd have to call Brian at the shop directly and ask him about the rod. Not sure but he would know.

    Thank you for your videos. Have you done a video on what to do with your off hand? I see the instructor pulling on the line and making adjustments with the line during the cast. I just purchased my first fly rod n reel and trying to absorb all information I can. Thanks!

    When you perform the upcast and downcast at 10 approximately how far will a fly go assuming your on the ground? As you increase distance how does this change to more like 10 to 2 or more?

    What about the left hand? When does it pull and do you do it every time you cast?

  • @coreylies

    Great video, but if you get tired of catching bluegill is it okay to try to catch a few monkeys and parrots? After all, variety is the spice of life. Seriously though, great vid once again guys. I'm grateful for the info!

  • @camhabib
    @camhabib Год назад

    In a previous video, you suggested breaking your wrist on the up cast following a complete stop to increase distance. Wouldn't this create a huge loop according to this video?

    Just started binge watching your videos as I'm trying to dedicate some quality time away from work this year. This video taught me to hate monkeys and parrots. I think I see a t-shirt logo here developing. 🚫 🐒 🦜

    So, knotting the crap out of my line and tip collisions, am I creeping?

    • @Madriveroutfitters
      @Madriveroutfitters  4 года назад

      Sure sounds like a possibility.

    • @tedroesch9133
      @tedroesch9133 Год назад

      Years ago the tip collisions were eliminated when I opened my loop, which was too tight.
      Also notice in this video, anytime you see him casting his other hand is 'double hauling' giving him faster line speed in addition to tip movement.
