Thank you Mel! Sorry I'm just getting to this. I've been swamped lately and trying to dig out from a mound of comments over the last few videos. But I appreciate the note my friend!
Nice brown Matt! it has always amazed me how such big fish will eat small flies, I've caught many nice size fish on little green inchworms. Enjoyed watching. 👍
I've always scratched my head on the big fish/teeny tiny flies thing. Watched a guy fishing the Paradise years ago. He landed a mid-20s brown on a size 24! I doubt I can even tie one of those on the tippet!
Awesome footage and great pattern. Was out yesterday, fishing size 20 BWO dries and managed to land 5, but lost 4 flies. Have a great week, and thanks for sharing.
Nice fly Matt, again no color changes available here, but it that's what makes it a sulphur. Nice brown there at the end. Keep the good stuff coming Matt.
I can’t thank you enough for what you do. Long time fly fisher and I just got my first vise today and have now been tying for several hours. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation to get in to this wonderful hobby.
Wow, thank you for this kind comment Richard! It makes me feel good to encourage new tiers to get into the sport. So welcome my friend! You're going to love it around this community. :-)
😮 super "butter" Brown Matt! Awesome looking sulfur fly, love that dubbing color. Nice to see the fishing trip facial growth too 👌You must've had a great time in your "tic tac" ufo, or is it uap, trailer 😉 Wish I had one back in the day, better than staying in the pickup bed. Thanks for sharing your good time and tying/fishing skills, you the man!
OMG you are funny Joe! That's a great name for the camper... a Silver Tic Tack trailer. Of course my daughter already named it (I think that's a thing in the Airstream cult, which I'm learning is kind of what it is). So we're calling our little guy Thumper. But speaking of sleeping in the bed of the truck, I've done that plenty of times too! I actually bought a truck tent a couple years ago. I used it one time and it was too much of a pain pulling it down to drive somewhere if I was on more than a one-night trip. But yeah, the camper was nice. Stove, refrigerator, shower, regular size bed, and a table I could use for tying! And oh, a heater which was nice a couple of nights in PA. Now regarding the facial hair, oh yeah. Usually I hold off until no-shave November but I was off all week, so just let it go. Now everybody at work likes the goatee so I may keep it for a while. Fun times. :-)
Good Morning Sir Matt, The EZ Sulphur is a great looking fly congrats 🎉 on a beautiful brown. Alot of lessons in this well made video. Thank You Matt. 😊
Good morning Matt. Just got back home. ☕️ time with your video(s). Have some catching up to do. I really like that wing. Much easier and quicker to tie. Enjoyed the fishing footage.
Thanks! I've got another week off coming up here in October. I don't think I can swing another major fishing trip this close to the last one, but I should get to spend a few days on the Savage. :-)
Tied a few of these but substituted snow shoe for the Antron. Since I organised my materials I can find even lees materials. Despite this they proved successful at my local river in Scotland. Many thanks for your channel.
Beautiful Fish and a great location. Makes me homesick for PA. A perfect example why you should always have your vice and some supplies with you. Thanks Matt!
Great video of that brown trout on Penn's Creek. The sulphur you tied would work well on Lockwood Gorge in NJ during June. Thanks for another fun video.
Matt, size 22 and smaller dries catch 18's and bigger here in Colorado. It's mind blowing. No ideas on how they even see them. Let alone me LOL!!! Great work as always!!
Well thank you Todd! I do feel a little cheesy swapping poly for what our forefathers might have tied with white duck slips, but when I think about it, they might have done the same thing if they had the material options we do today. :-)
Hi Matt. I just spent three days fishing in the Catskills upper WB Delaware. Sulfurs there and BWO on the Beaverkill. We did well with similar looking flies on a dry dropper combo. Missed a couple too. Nice when you can really dial it in! Nice brown!
Hahaha! That's all my wife brother! She has wanted one for years, but I certainly don't mind. It's quite a bit more comfortable than that little 2-person tent I stayed in on the Beaverkill. :-)
You got it Lee! I think I have half a dozen different sulphur patterns in my box (and that's just counting the dry flies!) But I can see this one becoming a favorite after another season. :-)
Love these ties. I use trigger point fibers for wings when I occasionally tie them in . Makes for a high visibility nice floating fly . I'm sure you found that out using the polly . Nice video on Penns . Keep them coming
Yes indeed David! I feel a little like I'm cheating on our forefathers when I use some poly material when they used white duck slips for upright wings. But you know, they might have done the same thing if they had all the options we do today!
Matt, what a great share. Like that you shared your get away. Do you think you can show your travel fly bag. I am looking at a lot of options. Would you mind. No rush. I'll be in the Bahamas until the 4th of October. Yes, I'll be fishing. Then I have a winter camping trip in Northern Nevada/ California for a week. I would like to have tying stuff.
Nice brown trout! That's a day maker anywhere. Have you ever tied a Sulphur pattern called the Usual? Uses snowshoe rabbit foot hair for the tail and wing. Your videos are well produced and edited. I enjoy them very much.
How did you like Penns Creek? You were in my neck of the woods. Liked the pattern. Very simple to put together. Did you get chance to visit Penns Creek Fly Shop?
Great fish on beautiful water. What size were the BWOs on Penn’s Creek? Was your BWO size a match for the naturals? Thanks for including the fishing as a follow up to the tying. Next up, catching with the Sulfur? Just kidding. I can’t imagine trying to make a video while trying to fish as well.
Sure, my email for the channel is matt@savageflies.com. I do try to check that as often as I can but sometimes I'll go a few days in between answering stuff there. You know, real life (and work) can get in the way of our hobbies. :-)
That was fun. Big fish on small fly, small tippet, and tiny 2 wt. I always enjoy your tying and fishing videos. Thanks.

Yeah don't touch the fish
Nice fly Matt. Nice brown on the tiny fly.

@@SavageFlies Cool. I like those trailers. Sort of an art deco look. Good luck with it.
Good Morning Sir Matt, The EZ Sulphur is a great looking fly congrats 🎉 on a beautiful brown. Alot of lessons in this well made video. Thank You Matt. 😊
Well thank you Edward! I hope the weather is finally easing up on you down there in Texas. :-)
Thanks for the video. Nice fly and nice brownie. Save that sulfur for spring. That will work well on Penns or Spring at that time. Tight lines, Matt!

Matt, I forget, thanks for the video, really great stuff.
You're most welcome Howard!
Tied a few of these but substituted snow shoe for the Antron. Since I organised my materials I can find even lees materials. Despite this they proved successful at my local river in Scotland. Many thanks for your channel.
Great looking pattern. Really dig going to the river with your camera. Nice Brown!

Nice fly and fish. Beautiful spot. Love this time of year. Thx Matt.
Gidday Matt. Nice work and nice fishing.
Gorgeous fish, Matt
Definitely need to tie up some of these
Thanks for the video

Very good. Thanks. Very encouraging. The Creek looks very nice. I like that Brown and on 6 X Tippet is awesome.
Thanks again for a great Channel.
Good looking Sulphur, Matt. Poly wing for the win. 😎 Small flies fill the bellys of large fish. Nice Brown.
Well thank you Todd! I do feel a little cheesy swapping poly for what our forefathers might have tied with white duck slips, but when I think about it, they might have done the same thing if they had the material options we do today. :-)
@@SavageFlies if poly was available, they would certainly have used it.

Beautiful brown!! I see you upgraded from the tent to the airstream... 😁😁. Getting all fancy on me now!!

thanks Matt, another nice fly for a sulfur mayfly. thanks for sharing.

Love your measuring technique.

I fish a very similar fly on big hunting creek an clean up not giants but the native brookies can't resist
Hey Matt, love the videos. Is there anyway to get in contact with you? An email maybe. I have some questions about some flies.
