- Finally, we reveal the Salon in all it's glory. We cover a lot in this video so you're in for a right treat so grab a cup of tea/coffee or glass of wine and enjoy the journey with us:
- Jolyon restores and installs a french Empire style Ballon chandelier found in Yorkshire of all places!
- We try our hands at a bit of gold leafing on the ceiling.
- We choose a curtain fabric, and then hang the beautiful curtains.
- Unboxing of a new stunning french armchair.
- Behind the scenes footage of dressing the room for Channel 4's Chateau DIY.
- Follow our roller coaster journey moving the heaviest piano before we deep clean and tune this beautiful 19th Century Pleyel Piano (with special thanks to Emily for coming to our rescue).

A bit about us - We are Chris (the tall one) and Jolyon (the less tall one). We met working at the Foreign Office, and got married in another Château south of Paris in 2018. We have both always separately had a dream of living in a Château, so it was a match made in heaven. We also have our gorgeous St Bernard, Bo, - she loves Château Trois Cloches, and can regularly be seen working in the garden, digging, or moving branches for us. The end goal is to have a beautiful venue available for big groups to hire, or the perfect location for a wedding! We try to capture as much of the renovations as possible for RUclips, so do follow along to see the transformation. We are big believers in bold o design, which fits with the Chateau's Belle Époque era. Château Trois Cloches translates to Castle of 3 Bells.

I think golden stenciling in the center of the chandelier boss or even all solid gold in that center circle would help balance the visual weight of the light fixture. Beautiful room.

I'm a big fan of your eclectic style. I can imagine enjoying this salon myself. The piano is a nice feature and well worth the struggle to get it installed in this great room. I, too, was afraid that the paint might be a tad overly dark for the space; however, there is ample natural light from the windows and mood lighting from the chandelier and light fixtures to compensate. Nice job lads.

I think the room looks stunning , i have seen others do a similar colour but they have not dressed the room as good as u 2 have . Love the Old piano too . And i love how u stripped the door back and left it wood , not painted it dark . And the curtains too are perfect . 😊

Fantastic room. Very similar to my family room. Same wall color, persian rug, navy velvet sofa, a few art deco influences, two mid century chairs, a traditional cocktail table, some brass, long gray taffeta drapes and some blue and white porcelain all mixed into my room and I love it.

Subscribed to your channel. The salon just looks fantastic. Just a tip about the piano. It must stand or "rest" for at least a month before tuning. So if it was less than that, it needs a final tuning. What is next up for renovation? Just love the old record player with the trumpet speaker. Have one just like that. Hope you have records to play. Do so every day LOL. The sound makes it very special. Enjoy your house!
Thanks. It did sit for a month or so but it will still need another tuning as it was so out of tune Emily said it would put too much pressure on the frame to tighten it up all the way in one go!

My parents when moving house had to get a crane to remove the piano from the first floor windows in the sitting room had to be removed.. You both did very well moving the piano. Thanks for the video.

Love the room! Now you know why the piano was given away for nothing! - it is a well known fact that piano’s are SO heavy that once people find them surplus to their requirements, they are unable to sell them and they are expensive to have carted away for disposal so they are happy for ANYONE to just take them away. 😂

Looks GREAT! Loved the montage of the changing out of pictures and accessories. It must be so rewarding to both you lovely guys to have it together. The piano move actually caused a twinge of pain/anxiety and I get it as I was involved carrying an upright piano 3 steep flights in SF once. Can YOU say, "OUCH"? Lol

@@chateautroiscloches 4 of us but only 3 could fit at once in the narrow stairwells. It was like three step forward, one or two back, hold, rest, start again. I think it was 5 hours. As most amateurs will tell you, NEVER AGAIN! But yours now looks absolutely beautiful in the perfect place for it. Bravo!

Truly a lovely room. Glad you traded out the too tall candelabra. You’ve certainly got some interesting pieces. If I may, in my humble opinion, you could use a more substantial painting over the fireplace. Or perhaps two the size that you have now, one hanging above the other.

@@chateautroiscloches You are very welcome. My father was a great piano - and organ player and he always had a bowl of water inside the piano. As low as possible.
All the hard work and drudgery has paid off handsomely, with a lovely regal salon you should be proud of. It must feel wonderful to check one of the major rooms off of your to-do list. Well done! But, 😊oh my, the risk of permanently damaging your vertebrae should not be underestimated. An injury like that would impact both your futures and your chateau renovation plans. Please don't take such a risk again.

I love the room, it is too dark for my tastes, but looks great with the furnishings. Just one observation.
Never place a plant on a piano! Any items you place on top should be minimal and not resonate when the piano is being played. Remember less is more when it comes to items on a piano. A great find, though. I hope you find people who will play it. Oh, and, let it rest and adjust to its new environment for several weeks, before you have it tuned.

WONDERFUL, effort...including the piano! Wow! A good decorator once said, "less is more"! A friendly suggestion, remove all the peculiar art faces, pillows, strange lamp bases. These rooms should look curated, not rushed/filled in. Elevate items with books in time worn manner! Take advantage of the height. Put back the square table, for cards or games. Find a companion fabric for pillows. Find a tall mirror for above the fireplace. Locate a trolly/cart for drinks. TAKE your TIME! Locate an alternate coffee table. Keep searching! It will all come together!

I have to say it’s beautiful, unfortunately,…. the cloth cover looks awful …… cover a small cardboard tube….cloth looks lopsided and bulky……the perfection of all else calls for this to be changed
