I’m tired of this concept called experience. Because most jobs actually can be done by anybody. You might need a month or two of training but that’s about it. So, interviews are bs, resumes and cover letters are utterly bs, degrees are bs, everything is built up on stupidity.
Two months training is too much work for the manager/employee. No one wants to help anyone new. And they want to be compensated for training by the company which is kind of understandable.
What’s funny is that a lot of peoples heads are still in the sand in denial that there will be another crash worse than 2008. Like how realtors are gaslighting people into thinking house prices aren’t going down when in reality mortgage brokers are being laid off in masses and whistleblowing another housing crash. Technically we are in a recession but are tiptoeing our way into a Great Depression with these frail people running our country.
I have a degree you think that would show them a minimum level of competence but the job market is so cooked where I'm from they all just don't want to hire somebody with a degree
It took me 3 interviews just to get a overnight stocker position at a grocery store and that was 7 YEARS AGO!!! Can't imagine the SHITSHOW that it is NOW!!!

Not true at all. Go to your local community college/local unions. Many have certs you can get that they will pay for. Casino business for example. 2 or 3 months or classes and you can make $25 n hour plus.
If my parents told me it would be this hard applying for a job, the money they used for studying could have been used to buy a farm and I could have been a farmer instead. It would have been much easier and less frustrating.

It's crazy that we live in a time when the interviewer is often times more incompetent than the interviewee, and the interviewee is the one who gets told that they lack the skills/experience to be a human punching bag.

The most frustrating thing is the fake job postings. Youll apply, then get an automated email saying "sorrry, you dont meet the qualifications". BS! They post fake jobs it's so unbelievably frustrating

No. The worse are the AI screening software which has a virtual interview where a computer looks at your eyes and monotine and you get filtered out without a human to even connect with! It is so dehumanizing. Automated interviews over Teams suck. HR is getting insanely lazy. and have no interest in talking to you at all until you are super golden out of 1000 applicants.

I think it also varies from town to town. My old hometown in California never quite recovered from the Recession so it was all but impossible to get a job. Then I moved to Colorado and have worked in everything from fast food to road work.

I have 25 years experience in UX and leadership, I'm fully certified, etc. My entire team and I were laid off in December of last year. I can't find a job anywhere. My unemployment insurance ran out. I'm lucky that I picked up two small projects with two friends but it's semi, semi part-time and not even enough to pay a fraction of my bills. I don't know what else to do. The government is gaslighting us. It's never in all my adult life ever been this bad.

When I was 16 did a 10 minute interview at a restaurant and they hired me on the spot, first attempt. Wild. I cant imagine they would ask for prior experience since you can learn it in about a week.
I was thinking the same thing. Do you have experience waiting tables? Yes! Maybe you don't really have experience doing that specific job, but if I know the job is easy enough, I would just say yes. Use your related experiences to paint the picture. Or, say something like, "I don't have experience specifically waiting tables, but I have similar restaurant experience, and I also am a quick learner, and am confident that I will be a valuable asset to your team." Something like that maybe?
This happened to me! Finally graduated and applied to this company twice. Made it to finally rounds. I literally had the exact experience they were asking for. Somehow they end up ghosting me for 2 weeks after they told me I got the second interview. Only to find out, that a “internal referral “ got the job. Guys I cannot express the level of betrayal I felt and sadness. Even for the most basic jobs you apply for that list even min requirement for the job is just high school, yet they sent out the rejection emails as if they didn’t even read my resume. Even the interviews were just elimination interviews and not even asking me any real questions. “ what’s are you career goals ?” “Can you even stay 1 year” you reply yes you can commit 2+ years. Still rejected

I fell yeah, it took me about 6 months to get a job and I just ended up working where I used to 3 years ago. I only got it because I knew the District Manger lol. I interviewed about 30 different places. I've been watching this Verizon position and they just interview but never hire so bizarre. 70% of the time the companies are looking, but never hire, idk why, just wasting everyone's time.
I posted this in another video but- I just tried to get hired from multiple pizza places, these people say theyre hiring, i apply, go to an interview, the manager, who isnt even a local and who was moved into the pizza hut to "help", says he didnt know they had an interview scheduled, we talk for a bit, i talk about my 3 years of experience doing forklift and my other 2 service jobs i had when i was a teen, says he'll tell HIS boss to call me to move forward on the hiring process, havnt had a call back in 7 days so i call them and tell them to call me, another 7 days later still no call back, and when people wonder why places are shuttering locations and downsizing, BLAME MANAGEMENT, these people cant organize a business if they were getting PAID to do it, incompetent weirdos. They will train but that's all for easy and simple entry level stuff. Beyond that yes it would make sense for them to ask about experience. And yes, incompetent management exists in all places.
I hate the whole “you need experience” mindset. Just because I had a job in high school doesn’t mean I’m going to immediately remember how to do it when i start the new position, and at the same speed. I feel like whoever hires looks at the application and sees experience and just assumes you don’t need any training, even though it’s probably at least slightly different from the prior experience (because every place does things differently)

Dang dude. I have a similar situation. I left my job about a year ago, they produce sand paper and different abrasives. The amount of formaldehyde we were instructed to tolerate was freaking crazy. Very good paying job but not worth it. Now I can't find anything. Nobody wants to hire a nearly 40 year old man that has no degree

Lots of people think getting into the trades is easy because they see it as a labor job. Until they realize it’s both a labor job and a serious mental job. Depending on the state you live in. It can be extremely expensive. With all the licensing and schooling. Needing experience to get experience and getting treated like an animal for a few years.
The trades is the new tech. Remember a few years everyone was telling everyone to get into tech because there were so many well paying jobs. It will get overstated in a few years, get in now if you can.

Im 25 and make over $36 an hour with a full benefits package and paid vacation. People say it destroys your body and its not worth it. I'd imagine sitting on your ass for 8 hours a day for 40 years probably isnt better either. Construction is so different than it was 30 years ago. Job site technology has evolved so much, not nearly as much heavy lifting as there used to be. Still gotta lift some heavy shit tho lol

Companies have unfortunately discovered due to the covid business shutdowns over the last 3 years, that they can do the same amount of work with 50% less employees. They have become more lean & efficient and have also consolidated alot of their facilities into 1 or 2 locations. Then on top of that, high inflation is rampant and ruining people's budget. Groceries are outrageous in cost. Rent is super high. Interest rates high, services and goods everywhere super expensive and etc. We need new leadership to get stuff back down asap.

My waitress story! (a bit of a non sequitur . . . ) Years ago, I was dining at a restaurant while visiting family. An older waitress (60-ish perhaps) came to our table to take our orders. We noticed that she did not have a notepad, nor did she write anything down. We were all terribly impressed! This was a real old-school waitress, who could just remember everything without taking notes. Anyhow, 10 or 15 minutes later she returned with our food, and half the orders were wrong or mixed up. We didn't have the heart to say anything, because she was old and we didn't want her to get fired. And now it makes for an amusing anecdote!
Dont ever quit your job unless you have a job. I have seen that happen to other people. It typically takes people 3-6 months to find a job. So you are almost there! Just keep looking and applying

Hell, I have been trapped in this subway detour to hell for nine months! This is all bullshit! Can you imagine how I feel? It doesn't help to call anyone about your application, and it doesn't help waiting, when you are ghosted, rejected, Must be nice to afford to cook dinner. Am probably gonna end up applying for food stamps. I can't afford to do my laundry, get my hair done, or even eat.
The job market is bad. No question about that. But what can we do. Well, I had to leave the country to find a job. Having 2 degrees, 1 diploma and 6 certificates wasn't enough I guess. I had applied to literally thousands and thousands of jobs. I still have most of the rejection notices in a folder. I don’t know why. Ha ha ha. I had to do something fast. So, I went to China and did a 1 year contract teaching ESL and now I'm in South Korea doing the same. This is my seventh year here. I never in a million years thought I'd be an English teacher after almost 20 years at HP. Sometimes a career change is the best move to make. At least it kept me from being homeless. I want to go back home to the US but It's not the right time.
That was my backup plan, too, since I did take three years of Mandarin at my university. I am wrapping up my Master’s degree in the next few months , then I will be free to leave this dumpster fire of a place. I knew damn good and well it didn’t matter how many degrees I had after I had gotten over the demoralizing trauma of not finding a job with my Bachelor’s after submitting thousands of applications. Went into the trades for a few years, and then back to University, and now I will be ready to leave the US for good after this.
I took a job with the post office 2 years ago. Need no experience, great benefits, paid exercise on top of that you get a pension when you retire I have a college education, going with the Post Office was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Good comment - most post offices are hiring …especially in big cities / suburbs. It can be tough at first since you’re on call and maybe not set hours, but eventually you get a settled route
“I’m very willing to learn and believe I could do a good job, and I learn quickly” is the go to response when the interviewer says that they are looking for someone either experience.
Finding jobs has always been painful in all my experience since 1990s .. usually something weird happens and you luck out if you continue to put yourself out there , but it’s just playing the odds and sucks … I’ve found this true for everything from retail to delivery to IT jobs. What about pet sitting or pet hotels ? Pilots are in demand or trade Jobs. Often it also helps if you just ask people you encounter day to day .. I’ve got jobs randomly that way often through the years
I think this is true. It has been difficult for me to find a job since 2007. Since then I've had two jobs and both were obtained through a friend helping me to get the job.
Very true words being spoken. The IT job market has turned to shit imo. I've seen jobs for "head database analyst" at $15/hr. Even without college, a job like that takes years of learning and certifications just to be paid less than the cashier at the gas station... And don't even try to get a job if you're entry level. Over 60% of "entry level" IT jobs require 3+ years of experience. Also the thing you said about AI job recruitment frustrates me too. Not only is it AI that's making things harder, but companies will outsource their hiring to third world countries, so when they give you a phone call you don't even know what job they're calling you about.
Good points. Recruiter jobs are being given to attractive females, who are typically connected to the company through nepotism. Another thing is that recruitment agencies are now in the business of collecting and selling data. Be very wary of companies that use a recruitment agency (which is becoming the norm).
Apply anyway and make sure your resume is typed a certain way to get past bullshit ats hr systems. Job postings are mostly just wish list for the employers
I was let go from my job after 16 years in May of this year. The entire month of June i spent everyday applying everywhere and got 2 interviews in that time with a NO days later. I worked and looked in the beginning and middle of July and one day I applied at Costco. I was called for an interview the following week. I went through 3 different interviews and got hired. God is great. I work for an amazing company now. Keep searching buddy. You'll find something. Good luck! 👊
I've been laid off since Dec 2023. 100s of applications sent. Several interviews, but no one his hiring (not me anyways lol). I've started my own business, also doing odd some jobs, and hoping for the best. Best of luck to everyone looking for gainful employment!!

I had a nice job for 4 months but the company I was at just laid off 1000 employees including me so now I have to hunt down another job. 6 months ago I had applied to 2000+ companies and interviewed at 30-40 companies just to get 1 job offer.

Sorry bud. It is tough out there. Here is my own opinion that I’ll share simply because you posted this video on RUclips and it came across my feed. You do have a lot of viable options. These options may not be super appealing to you at this moment but our perspective on things can and does change over time. Here are some great options (no I’m not gaslighting or teasing you) to consider even if they aren’t immediately appealing. You could join any branch of the military. Army, navy, Air Force or marines. From there if the shoe fits, you could transition to something more specialized like green berets, army rangers or navy seals. Another option (which is the route I personally chose many years ago) are the trades. Roofing, electrical, hvac and of course plumbing. I’ve been plumbing for almost 20 years now and got my master’s plumbing license in Texas. It’s hard work but a very rewarding career and it pays extremely well. You can even open your own business one day like I did. Another option would be law enforcement. Depending on where you’re located, many police departments are short staffed and need more help. There are a great many other options to consider but you’ll need to think outside the box a little. Don’t feel bad about not getting hired on as a waiter. This is very dead end job and you’ll end up wasting precious time and your young that would be better spent pursuing an actual career. You could get a job working for a company that builds and installs swimming pools. Eventually maybe you can become a pool salesman. You can make great money doing stuff like this and turn it into a lifelong career that you can live very comfortably on. Don’t waste time with these other dead end jobs. It’s clown business and a waste of your time. Everything happens for a reason and there’s a reason why they didn’t hire you. You weren’t made to be working there. Now, go apply for your apprenticeship and get a job for a local plumbing company. You won’t regret it and you’ll learn valuable skills 🫡
This was a great read. Valid points. However ; and this is just my opinion.... Who the fuck wants to install pools, or be a plumber? I could care less about the money these jobs make me, if they're boring, tedious, disgusting, etc. I drive around in my car doing UberEats making 35$+ an hour in Charleston, and sure there are drawbacks to gigwork, and it may not last forever, but at least I can say later in life that I didn't piss away my youth chasing a job that would eventually FEEL dead end. Trades FEEL dead end, regardless of money, because one day you realize you've sacrificed your mental / physical health to chase a number. We're all going to end up with dementia eventually and lose our memory, before that happens you may as well use your youth to do things that aren't boring, or uninteresting. Better advice for this guy aside from the standard " Buckle down, and go chase these boring, mundane career paths that nobody else gives a shit about anymore." ( Hence the decline of the trades) Would be something like. " While you're sitting in these parking lots, doing jackshit, open up the Uber app, sign up, and start making money. Take excess profits while living in your car, to buy inventory, and flip said inventory on the internet." Get with the times my man. Anybody going into trades nowadays is uninspired, out of options, or out of touch with reality. Regardless of the money made, a majority of the jobs are just body destroying, mind numbing manual labor, with a piece of paper saying you went through a mind numbing list of hoops and hurdles.

I hate how these jobs take so long to let you know if you got the job or not. I applied for a position at Macy’s and it literally took over 30 days to send me an automated email just to tell me I didn’t get the job. It’s ridiculous.
That's actually the best you can hope for. A lot of places won't even tell you that you didn't get the job, so you're expected to keep applying without ever knowing if you got a job or didn't get a job, with no feedback whatsoever to reassure you that you aren't just submitting applications into a black hole.

Guy, I've worked in the restaurant business for 30 years off and on as a short order cook. Restaurant jobs are a dime a dozen as far as I'm concerned. Don't let 1 single foolish restaurant manager deter you from trying to find additional work as a waiter. There's lots of food service jobs out there if you need the money. You can get a waiter job if you need one. Don't give up...Good luck....I believe you will find something.

Hey could be worse. I was denied a dishwashing job because of “lack of experience”. I struggled for 6 months and I’m a Marine Corps infantry (0351) vet. Still businesses rejected me whenever possible. So when businesses/ U.S. government say they care about vets, they’re lying. History shows we are the black sheeps of our country. Truly saddening. Would have never gone in if I knew this is where it would lead me to. It is what it is now. I have a job now but man oh man, it is rough. Back breaking pain for little pay and safety issues everywhere. Better than no job but not by much. I hope the best for you sir.
IF they are willing to train you. Most companies only want people who already have the experience. And if they don't then they have to go spend a fortune at a trade school to only learn the basics unless you are lucky enough to find a company that does apprenticeships. You don't just walk in and automatically become an HVAC tech, as much as I would love for that to be the case.
I tried being a mover, where most of the work is during the summer where it gets 100+ degrees. it only paid $14 an hour normally, but i was gonna drive this massive box truck to make $18 an hour. It's a pain in the ass, everyone cuts you off, hard to park, even have to worry about tree branches damaging the truck. It did have tips though. I was willing to do all this to make a living so i could move out from my parents house and be independent yet they still didn't give me enough hours. If you can't get a job as a mover in 100 degree weather in the summer, what has it come to? Keep in mind this is after trying to get jobs with my 2 year degree and two certifications in computer networking. its really rough. to a comical degree

Depends on where you live. States like California just forced business owners to pay minimum wage of $25, inadvertently forcing places like Pizza Hut and Little Ceasers to layoff all their delivery drivers. It’s just not possible for them to stay business with these arbitrary wage hikes.

Look into warehouse jobs I promise you if you have a grainger/ Amazon/ UPS or even FedEx facilities nearby that are hiring you will get an interview and a spot so long you’re not a felon or have misdemeanors. Restaurant gigs are BS most of the time.
People gave me shit when i said people will be competing for a basic retail jobs and literally fighting for it. I said that right before these mass layoffs in other sectors because i seen it coming. I lived through thr '08 recession and im seeing alot of patterns. Basically we are all fighting for part time jobs just to stay afloat. My advice to anyone is dont quit your job right and depending on the industry you're in, do as much OT as possible. I for one cant get a second job because of my restrained schedule as a mechanic. I cant just simply leave at 4PM daily, something always changes which requires me to stay. So what i do is stay do OT and then come on my off day and work to collect more. I did the math and the amount i make in OT is the same as if i worked a second or third part time job. However I did apply to In and Out, Panda Express, and Jollybees and i received all rejection emails. I also had previous food experience but that didnt help.
Ive applied for 18 jobs this June. It's pretty damn frustrating. Not even Dollar General is calling me back and it's been 11 days. I only got three interviews. One rejection and I'm still waiting for responses from the others.
you have to be born with experience and programming/software knowledge before it comes out. But yeah it's pretty bad, I notice big difference how bad things looks vs something like 2021/2022. Every minimum wage asking for experience and a lot of it. I think for everyone who has some extra savings goal should be aiming for self-employment/passive income at least part time. Have you tried factories? They should have lowest experience demand.

I got desperate and became an elementary school janitor for $30 an hour, best decision ever. Off when the students are off, summer vacation with pay. Most stress free job ever. I put audible on finish the school early and just relax until it's time to go home. This last summer I went on a long road trip with the wife and was being paid while we did it.

There's a morning shift and a night shift 5pm to 1:30am and I have the night shift and there are only two of us plus a supervisor. I might try for school maintenance and I think they make a bit more, although I won't have the option of getting spring and summer vacations off and you are on call 24/7 for emergency calls and repairs.

Finding work in 2024 is actually easy being no one wants to work anymore. If you only try corporations an big box stores you wont have much luck. Try a dif approach.. Lawn care companies. Construction companies. Road construction. Painting companies any kind of physical work jobs are endless the turn rate for those jobs is massive.
The American dream used to be to start your own business.. The American dream didn't used to be to go deep into debt to live in a house, drive a car, receive health care, or attend classes at a university. The American dream didn't used to be slaving as an employee for somebody else. The American dream didn't used to be depending on government for basic resources and money. Why even look for a job? Glad you didn't say ALL warehouses will get you certified because some are just desperate and unprofessional. Worked at one that had me ride around in a forklift for 10 minutes, barely used the forks and I was "certified". All they said was don't mess up in front of management. Isn't that what certifying someone is for?!

I applied to several warehouses and it depends on your area if they need help or not. I had no luck in Florida there’s tons of immigrants from Mexico and Cuba that apply to those jobs so competition is fierce for something that pays 15 an hour. I moved to Indiana and there’s way less competition and warehouses are all over the place so there’s plenty of open spots. Plus very few immigrants live in my area.
everyone who can pull weeds from farmland without needing to speak English filled all the jobs they could, and everyone else who would've worked there was forced to find something completely different, most likely requiring a degree or cert they don't have. every easy job is taken and all that's left are rolling application jobs or one's that require tons of investment

u should have given an example like i got asked the some question for cleaner position in hospital and I replied with if there is a blood spill that can cause harm I will clean it first, then i will do my regular clean up routine. Have to door dash and insta cart and e commerce and gig work it’s hard right now . Trade work construction is the way to go but you will be getting up at 430 am and working 12 hours a day no work life balance . I think the only work like that is in computer science , coding , and Tech etc I wish I would of listened to my dad when he said take something computer related in school
I recommend keeping up the effort applying for restaurant jobs. Even if you don't want to do it long term, it's a fine way to save up a bit of money and can be a decent way to make friends if you're lucky. Idk what the market is like in your area, but hopefully still possible to find a good job if you're persistent. The unfortunate thing is I've seen it take months and months of rejections before a match.

The current job market sucks, I'm 36 and currently unemployed as well. filled out several applications with several rejections, it has given me more time to work on my youtube channel. I'm getting close to the last requirement to be able to apply for monetization, but I think affiliate marketing may be the best route to go for now. I do odd jobs like moving furniture for people to make some money for the time being. And yeah I definitely think you should do the vlog stuff it will definitely help with watch hours. I'm not too far now from the 4000 watch hours I need.

I’m tired of this concept called experience. Because most jobs actually can be done by anybody. You might need a month or two of training but that’s about it. So, interviews are bs, resumes and cover letters are utterly bs, degrees are bs, everything is built up on stupidity.

I think it also varies from town to town. My old hometown in California never quite recovered from the Recession so it was all but impossible to get a job. Then I moved to Colorado and have worked in everything from fast food to road work.

I have 25 years experience in UX and leadership, I'm fully certified, etc. My entire team and I were laid off in December of last year. I can't find a job anywhere. My unemployment insurance ran out. I'm lucky that I picked up two small projects with two friends but it's semi, semi part-time and not even enough to pay a fraction of my bills. I don't know what else to do.

When I was 16 did a 10 minute interview at a restaurant and they hired me on the spot, first attempt. Wild. I cant imagine they would ask for prior experience since you can learn it in about a week.

I was thinking the same thing. Do you have experience waiting tables? Yes! Maybe you don't really have experience doing that specific job, but if I know the job is easy enough, I would just say yes. Use your related experiences to paint the picture. Or, say something like, "I don't have experience specifically waiting tables, but I have similar restaurant experience, and I also am a quick learner, and am confident that I will be a valuable asset to your team." Something like that maybe?

Made it to finally rounds. I literally had the exact experience they were asking for.
Somehow they end up ghosting me for 2 weeks after they told me I got the second interview.

Guys I cannot express the level of betrayal I felt and sadness. Even for the most basic jobs you apply for that list even min requirement for the job is just high school, yet they sent out the rejection emails as if they didn’t even read my resume.

I interviewed about 30 different places. I've been watching this Verizon position and they just interview but never hire so bizarre. 70% of the time the companies are looking, but never hire, idk why, just wasting everyone's time.

I just tried to get hired from multiple pizza places, these people say theyre hiring, i apply, go to an interview, the manager, who isnt even a local and who was moved into the pizza hut to "help", says he didnt know they had an interview scheduled, we talk for a bit, i talk about my 3 years of experience doing forklift and my other 2 service jobs i had when i was a teen, says he'll tell HIS boss to call me to move forward on the hiring process, havnt had a call back in 7 days so i call them and tell them to call me, another 7 days later still no call back, and when people wonder why places are shuttering locations and downsizing, BLAME MANAGEMENT, these people cant organize a business if they were getting PAID to do it, incompetent weirdos.

They will train but that's all for easy and simple entry level stuff. Beyond that yes it would make sense for them to ask about experience. And yes, incompetent management exists in all places.

I hate the whole “you need experience” mindset. Just because I had a job in high school doesn’t mean I’m going to immediately remember how to do it when i start the new position, and at the same speed. I feel like whoever hires looks at the application and sees experience and just assumes you don’t need any training, even though it’s probably at least slightly different from the prior experience (because every place does things differently)
its more of a filter than a rational requirement. jobs available are way less than job seekers. so they come up with these weird filters.
i think they just want to have less steps as possible. and just want to have slaves. if u say u are able to work everyday 7am to 10pm 7 days a week. your hired. who cares about ur personal needs. if u speak up and say i want to work with u but i would need this time or i want part time. nOPE. to much trouble. next . ok you'll devote all ur time and energy for little pay for us? great. ur hired.
Dang dude. I have a similar situation. I left my job about a year ago, they produce sand paper and different abrasives. The amount of formaldehyde we were instructed to tolerate was freaking crazy. Very good paying job but not worth it. Now I can't find anything. Nobody wants to hire a nearly 40 year old man that has no degree

Lots of people think getting into the trades is easy because they see it as a labor job. Until they realize it’s both a labor job and a serious mental job. Depending on the state you live in. It can be extremely expensive. With all the licensing and schooling. Needing experience to get experience and getting treated like an animal for a few years.

Im 25 and make over $36 an hour with a full benefits package and paid vacation. People say it destroys your body and its not worth it. I'd imagine sitting on your ass for 8 hours a day for 40 years probably isnt better either. Construction is so different than it was 30 years ago. Job site technology has evolved so much, not nearly as much heavy lifting as there used to be. Still gotta lift some heavy shit tho lol

Companies have unfortunately discovered due to the covid business shutdowns over the last 3 years, that they can do the same amount of work with 50% less employees. They have become more lean & efficient and have also consolidated alot of their facilities into 1 or 2 locations. Then on top of that, high inflation is rampant and ruining people's budget. Groceries are outrageous in cost. Rent is super high. Interest rates high, services and goods everywhere super expensive and etc. We need new leadership to get stuff back down asap.

My waitress story! (a bit of a non sequitur . . . )
Years ago, I was dining at a restaurant while visiting family. An older waitress (60-ish perhaps) came to our table to take our orders. We noticed that she did not have a notepad, nor did she write anything down. We were all terribly impressed! This was a real old-school waitress, who could just remember everything without taking notes. Anyhow, 10 or 15 minutes later she returned with our food, and half the orders were wrong or mixed up. We didn't have the heart to say anything, because she was old and we didn't want her to get fired. And now it makes for an amusing anecdote!
Still, you have to admit she was some kind of genius, not having to write the orders down.

Best advice find a restaurant that closed down and have a family/friend lie that they were your gm if references are asked. You can literally do this with almost any entry level job.
Hell, I have been trapped in this subway detour to hell for nine months! This is all bullshit! Can you imagine how I feel? It doesn't help to call anyone about your application, and it doesn't help waiting, when you are ghosted, rejected, Must be nice to afford to cook dinner. Am probably gonna end up applying for food stamps. I can't afford to do my laundry, get my hair done, or even eat.
The job market is bad. No question about that. But what can we do. Well, I had to leave the country to find a job. Having 2 degrees, 1 diploma and 6 certificates wasn't enough I guess. I had applied to literally thousands and thousands of jobs. I still have most of the rejection notices in a folder. I don’t know why. Ha ha ha. I had to do something fast. So, I went to China and did a 1 year contract teaching ESL and now I'm in South Korea doing the same. This is my seventh year here. I never in a million years thought I'd be an English teacher after almost 20 years at HP. Sometimes a career change is the best move to make. At least it kept me from being homeless. I want to go back home to the US but It's not the right time.

That was my backup plan, too, since I did take three years of Mandarin at my university. I am wrapping up my Master’s degree in the next few months , then I will be free to leave this dumpster fire of a place. I knew damn good and well it didn’t matter how many degrees I had after I had gotten over the demoralizing trauma of not finding a job with my Bachelor’s after submitting thousands of applications. Went into the trades for a few years, and then back to University, and now I will be ready to leave the US for good after this.
I took a job with the post office 2 years ago. Need no experience, great benefits, paid exercise on top of that you get a pension when you retire I have a college education, going with the Post Office was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Good comment - most post offices are hiring …especially in big cities / suburbs. It can be tough at first since you’re on call and maybe not set hours, but eventually you get a settled route

Finding jobs has always been painful in all my experience since 1990s .. usually something weird happens and you luck out if you continue to put yourself out there , but it’s just playing the odds and sucks … I’ve found this true for everything from retail to delivery to IT jobs. What about pet sitting or pet hotels ? Pilots are in demand or trade Jobs. Often it also helps if you just ask people you encounter day to day .. I’ve got jobs randomly that way often through the years

Even without college, a job like that takes years of learning and certifications just to be paid less than the cashier at the gas station... And don't even try to get a job if you're entry level. Over 60% of "entry level" IT jobs require 3+ years of experience. Also the thing you said about AI job recruitment frustrates me too. Not only is it AI that's making things harder, but companies will outsource their hiring to third world countries, so when they give you a phone call you don't even know what job they're calling you about.
Good points. Recruiter jobs are being given to attractive females, who are typically connected to the company through nepotism. Another thing is that recruitment agencies are now in the business of collecting and selling data. Be very wary of companies that use a recruitment agency (which is becoming the norm).
Apply anyway and make sure your resume is typed a certain way to get past bullshit ats hr systems. Job postings are mostly just wish list for the employers
I was let go from my job after 16 years in May of this year. The entire month of June i spent everyday applying everywhere and got 2 interviews in that time with a NO days later. I worked and looked in the beginning and middle of July and one day I applied at Costco. I was called for an interview the following week. I went through 3 different interviews and got hired. God is great. I work for an amazing company now. Keep searching buddy. You'll find something. Good luck! 👊

Sorry bud. It is tough out there. Here is my own opinion that I’ll share simply because you posted this video on RUclips and it came across my feed.
You do have a lot of viable options. These options may not be super appealing to you at this moment but our perspective on things can and does change over time.
Here are some great options (no I’m not gaslighting or teasing you) to consider even if they aren’t immediately appealing.
You could join any branch of the military. Army, navy, Air Force or marines. From there if the shoe fits, you could transition to something more specialized like green berets, army rangers or navy seals.
Another option (which is the route I personally chose many years ago) are the trades.
Roofing, electrical, hvac and of course plumbing. I’ve been plumbing for almost 20 years now and got my master’s plumbing license in Texas. It’s hard work but a very rewarding career and it pays extremely well. You can even open your own business one day like I did.
Another option would be law enforcement. Depending on where you’re located, many police departments are short staffed and need more help.
There are a great many other options to consider but you’ll need to think outside the box a little.
Don’t feel bad about not getting hired on as a waiter. This is very dead end job and you’ll end up wasting precious time and your young that would be better spent pursuing an actual career.
You could get a job working for a company that builds and installs swimming pools. Eventually maybe you can become a pool salesman. You can make great money doing stuff like this and turn it into a lifelong career that you can live very comfortably on.
Don’t waste time with these other dead end jobs. It’s clown business and a waste of your time. Everything happens for a reason and there’s a reason why they didn’t hire you. You weren’t made to be working there.
Now, go apply for your apprenticeship and get a job for a local plumbing company. You won’t regret it and you’ll learn valuable skills 🫡
This was a great read. Valid points. However ; and this is just my opinion.... Who the fuck wants to install pools, or be a plumber? I could care less about the money these jobs make me, if they're boring, tedious, disgusting, etc. I drive around in my car doing UberEats making 35$+ an hour in Charleston, and sure there are drawbacks to gigwork, and it may not last forever, but at least I can say later in life that I didn't piss away my youth chasing a job that would eventually FEEL dead end. Trades FEEL dead end, regardless of money, because one day you realize you've sacrificed your mental / physical health to chase a number. We're all going to end up with dementia eventually and lose our memory, before that happens you may as well use your youth to do things that aren't boring, or uninteresting. Better advice for this guy aside from the standard " Buckle down, and go chase these boring, mundane career paths that nobody else gives a shit about anymore." ( Hence the decline of the trades) Would be something like. " While you're sitting in these parking lots, doing jackshit, open up the Uber app, sign up, and start making money. Take excess profits while living in your car, to buy inventory, and flip said inventory on the internet." Get with the times my man. Anybody going into trades nowadays is uninspired, out of options, or out of touch with reality. Regardless of the money made, a majority of the jobs are just body destroying, mind numbing manual labor, with a piece of paper saying you went through a mind numbing list of hoops and hurdles.

Guy, I've worked in the restaurant business for 30 years off and on as a short order cook. Restaurant jobs are a dime a dozen as far as I'm concerned. Don't let 1 single foolish restaurant manager deter you from trying to find additional work as a waiter. There's lots of food service jobs out there if you need the money. You can get a waiter job if you need one.

Hey could be worse. I was denied a dishwashing job because of “lack of experience”. I struggled for 6 months and I’m a Marine Corps infantry (0351) vet. Still businesses rejected me whenever possible. So when businesses/ U.S. government say they care about vets, they’re lying. History shows we are the black sheeps of our country. Truly saddening. Would have never gone in if I knew this is where it would lead me to. It is what it is now. I have a job now but man oh man, it is rough. IF they are willing to train you. Most companies only want people who already have the experience. And if they don't then they have to go spend a fortune at a trade school to only learn the basics unless you are lucky enough to find a company that does apprenticeships. You don't just walk in and automatically become an HVAC tech, as much as I would love for that to be the case.

I tried being a mover, where most of the work is during the summer where it gets 100+ degrees. it only paid $14 an hour normally, but i was gonna drive this massive box truck to make $18 an hour. It's a pain in the ass, everyone cuts you off, hard to park, even have to worry about tree branches damaging the truck. It did have tips though. I was willing to do all this to make a living so i could move out from my parents house and be independent yet they still didn't give me enough hours. If you can't get a job as a mover in 100 degree weather in the summer, what has it come to? Keep in mind this is after trying to get jobs with my 2 year degree and two certifications in computer networking. its really rough. to a comical degree

Raising interest rates means that companies need to pay the banks more to borrow money. If it's harder to borrow money, companies can't pay for workers. The stimulus checks helped create the inflation we have right now, which makes it even harder for companies to pay for things. The reason companies are hitting record profits right now is because of inflation, which makes it look like they are earning more money, but they are actually earning the same amount as before or less because money has less value

People gave me shit when i said people will be competing for a basic retail jobs and literally fighting for it. I said that right before these mass layoffs in other sectors because i seen it coming. I lived through thr '08 recession and im seeing alot of patterns.
Basically we are all fighting for part time jobs just to stay afloat. My advice to anyone is dont quit your job right and depending on the industry you're in, do as much OT as possible. I for one cant get a second job because of my restrained schedule as a mechanic. I cant just simply leave at 4PM daily, something always changes which requires me to stay. So what i do is stay do OT and then come on my off day and work to collect more. I did the math and the amount i make in OT is the same as if i worked a second or third part time job.
However I did apply to In and Out, Panda Express, and Jollybees and i received all rejection emails. I also had previous food experience but that didnt help.

Ive applied for 18 jobs this June. It's pretty damn frustrating. Not even Dollar General is calling me back and it's been 11 days. I only got three interviews. One rejection and I'm still waiting for responses from the others.

For instance my brother graduated in 2020 with a medical degree, couldn't find any work in his field... now he is a super successful self taught app designer. I got desperate and became an elementary school janitor for $30 an hour, best decision ever. Off when the students are off, summer vacation with pay. Most stress free job ever. I put audible on finish the school early and just relax until it's time to go home. This last summer I went on a long road trip with the wife and was being paid while we did it.

@@banderas2000 I just applied and got it. If you work as a janitor from an outside company than you will probably get less. We work for the actual school district. There's a morning shift and a night shift 5pm to 1:30am and I have the night shift and there are only two of us plus a supervisor. I might try for school maintenance and I think they make a bit more, although I won't have the option of getting spring and summer vacations off and you are on call 24/7 for emergency calls and repairs.

Finding work in 2024 is actually easy being no one wants to work anymore. If you only try corporations an big box stores you wont have much luck. Try a dif approach.. Lawn care companies. Construction companies. Road construction. Painting companies any kind of physical work jobs are endless the turn rate for those jobs is massive.
Yes i did hear a lot of laborers and construction people get fired because they just don't show up. If I can just show up, that's already a head start

Why even look for a job? Go into your own business and make it on your own. Yeah, risk and planning, contract after contract after contract, doing your own accounting, filing your own taxes, etc.
Try looking for assembly, soldering, packer, stocker. A lot of these warehouse jobs will also get you forklift certified.

Glad you didn't say ALL warehouses will get you certified because some are just desperate and unprofessional. Worked at one that had me ride around in a forklift for 10 minutes, barely used the forks and I was "certified". All they said was don't mess up in front of management. Isn't that what certifying someone is for?!
@@Iwishtheirwasnopain Not anymore. Warehouses lay these people off and are using robots to replace them in places like Amazon. When no one is buying anything they do not need as many forklift operators
I applied to several warehouses and it depends on your area if they need help or not. I had no luck in Florida there’s tons of immigrants from Mexico and Cuba that apply to those jobs so competition is fierce for something that pays 15 an hour. I moved to Indiana and there’s way less competition and warehouses are all over the place so there’s plenty of open spots. Plus very few immigrants live in my area.

everyone who can pull weeds from farmland without needing to speak English filled all the jobs they could, and everyone else who would've worked there was forced to find something completely different, most likely requiring a degree or cert they don't have. every easy job is taken and all that's left are rolling application jobs or one's that require tons of investment

I got asked on a recent job interview “when you’re working on multiple things with deadlines how do you prioritize what needs to be done first.” I said “I would say but what’s most urgent.” They then followed up with “How do you decide what’s most urgent😬” I had no idea what to say lol
u should have given an example like i got asked the some question for cleaner position in hospital and I replied with if there is a blood spill that can cause harm I will clean it first, then i will do my regular clean up routine. Your supposed to bluff stuff lol. But I got a interview from Convergix Automation for Information technology specialist and he HR asked why should we hire you and why are you the best candidate like man that question was so stupid but i answered it somehow, but they did not hire me and hired some random girl with 2.9 GPA :( (MY GPA is 3.8/4.0). No matter how u do on interview if they want to hire u will get hired.

Have to door dash and insta cart and e commerce and gig work it’s hard right now . Trade work construction is the way to go but you will be getting up at 430 am and working 12 hours a day no work life balance . I think the only work like that is in computer science , coding , and Tech etc I wish I would of listened to my dad when he said take something computer related in school
I recommend keeping up the effort applying for restaurant jobs. Even if you don't want to do it long term, it's a fine way to save up a bit of money and can be a decent way to make friends if you're lucky. Idk what the market is like in your area, but hopefully still possible to find a good job if you're persistent. The unfortunate thing is I've seen it take months and months of rejections before a match.

Job market IS garbage, and once you find a job you are better off sticking with it. My job is extremely physically demanding working in 100F with no AC and it's all I can do to keep from collapsing from the heat most days, but I can't afford to leave, there aren't no jobs out there anyways

The current job market sucks, I'm 36 and currently unemployed as well. filled out several applications with several rejections, it has given me more time to work on my youtube channel. I'm getting close to the last requirement to be able to apply for monetization, but I think affiliate marketing may be the best route to go for now. I do odd jobs like moving furniture for people to make some money for the time being. And yeah I definitely think you should do the vlog stuff it will definitely help with watch hours. I'm not too far now from the 4000 watch hours I need.
