      It will work with your pump block, if the pump block has a compatible RGB connector. Just check if the writings on the connector plug match any of the converter's headers (refer to 3:05).
      Also "Aura Sync compatible" (or Asrock, Gigabyte...) batches on the box of the RGB component usually mean it comes with a compatible plug.

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  4 года назад

      What we call RGB header usually is either a 12V GRB header or some kind of ARGB header. For the latter you of course won't need the Deepcool converter.
      The converter will expect a 12V GRB signal. You can check the printing on the mainboard next to the RGB headers to see what type they are and what pinout they have. You will find that in the mainboard's manual as well.
      Even if your mainboard has an uncommon pinout, like 12V RGB, there's usually an option to change that inside your RGB software. The setting is sometimes called "calibration". When doing a calibration the mainboard will show every of the three RGB colors once and you will have to select whether you're seeing e.g. red or green.

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  4 года назад +2

      You can connect two 12V GRB fans to the converter in addition to your ARGB hardware. I assume your ARGB hardware needs to connect to the same header? You may use a hub to power those 4 components at once, though you will have to try if the power output is sufficient for your specific components. It's always good practice to run as few components from a single header as possible.

    I recently bought a Deepcool CF120 fan, which i mistakenly thought I could plug straight into my MSI B450M mother board (JRGB1 12v pins) . It has a 3 pin fan cable and an additional cable which I presume is for the RGB. If I purchased one of these adapters, would only plugging in the 3 pin fan cable work still allow me to control the RGB? The other cable would become redundant?

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  4 года назад +1

      You need to plug in both cables. The 3 pin fan cables connects to your mainboard to power the fan itself (rotation only, no light). The additional RGB cable goes into the converter and will only be responsible for RGB.

      The Deepcool converter should be what you're looking for. Though it will convert from 12V analog to 5V digital, but not the other way around. This is actually what you described, so the device will work for you, given that your ARGB hardware has a compatible plug.

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  4 года назад

      Seems like the case company misunderstood what you want to do. This converter is save to use and will not burn anything, if everything is wired as intended.
      However: Never use an *adapter* to connect a 12V out to a 5V component - this can totally burn your PC. The Deepcool device is a true *converter* , it's an ADC to be precise.

      Hi! You can use every device to feed the RGB signal to the converter as long as it has a 12V GRB pinout. The converter doesn't mind whether it's connected to a mainboard or RGB controller.
      That said you likely could configure the pinout of your mainboard's header inside the fusion software, so that it will put out a GRB signal. Some RGB programs call this "calibration".
      Btw. I wish you good luck in the Aura raffle! :)

      That's a pity. The converter of course won't help you. You will need to get a dedicated RGB controller. I would consider going full Corsair if you don't have any RGB hardware yet.

      Usually there's no need to connect the W pin for hardware without white LEDs. So just connecting GRB should work fine. You maybe need to set something in the control software though.

    Hi, it's a nicely made video but I'm pretty sure it's a 5v ARGB to 12v RGB convertor. Not the other way around as you mentioned. You can't convert analog signal to a digital one.

    • @techlessYT
      @techlessYT  4 года назад +2

      Hi Rong, thanks!
      You can convert analog to digital with an ADC. It's the same principle that can also be found in digital recordings with microphones or digital cameras.
      The conversation inside the Deepcool converter is from analog to digital as the motherboard puts out an analog signal while e.g. the fans need a digital ARGB signal. So the signal flow is from the motherboard to the fans, hence it's 12V GRB to 5V ARGB.
