Michael is my favorite guitar player…period. Nobody could watch these videos and not love his talent. I wish he would tour.
God, Michael is such a talented musician. Love to hear him play.
Bought a 79 exactly the same as this natural string thorough body. Great neck size and sounds so good. Anyone who doesn't think 70s strats are good I urge you to try one, they play and sound so good
70's strats are the best.
I have exactly the same model. Bought mine new in early 1980 and have had it ever since. Love it 😊
My 79 is wired wrong so the in-between positions have the Peter Green/Brian May reverse phase sounds,,, I refuse to fix that !! 70s hardtail strats have such a thick vibey tone, almost Gibson tone.
My brother has a box set of natural strat & tele .I am jealous 😶
@@garycoates4987so is it that nasally tone? if i were u i’d never fix it too !
As an amateur guitar player, Its so refreshing to see Lemmo just completely whif a note every once in a while.
Hahaha +1.2 confidence. We take those
The player outshines the guitar... And that's a great guitar..!
People complain about the 70's look of the stratecasters and Les Pauls but I prefer the 70's big headstock on the Strats and the Valute on the Les Pauls.
Harbinger of the ‘70’s natural finish hardtail SG craze. Lemmo’s on a roll with parents in town.
I have a beautiful 77 exactly like this and it’s my favorite strat I’ve ever played
Man, your playing always gets me. I need to look up your band. Lol
Loads of talent. Thanks lemmo and Jen!
Jake E Lee made some great music with a '79 hardtail.
I love 70s strats !! I'm really pissed off people are figuring out how great they are and that they're getting expensive lol thanks Lemmo lol
Beautiful guitar guys. I had one years ago. Wish I still had it lol. Thx Michael & Jen.
Greetings from Finland, I love watching these videos! What a great guitar and a great guitar player! Thank you!
Beautiful grain on this one !!! Sounds fantastic in your hands Lemmo !!! Thank you Jen !!!
Such a wonderful play, and sound from that strat!
I love a natural wood finish on a guitar, humans and nature coming together to create great art.
1979 was overused saying " Chrome don't get ya home"
Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound Strat in bridge?
Looks kind of like it. It could also be a Schecter-they used big polepieces too.
Yes, I agree with you...I'm pretty sure it's the SD Quarter Pound. The old owner I'd assume won't doubt the tone quality of Seymour Duncan's....I have my own Seymour Duncan (SSL-1's on neck and middle, and SSL-5 on the bridge) put on my Strat (same color in this video).
They sound amazing, and they sound like the original 50's pickups as well...😊
I blocked my trem mechanism with a couple of maple blocks of wood in my American standard strat and I was blown away by the improvement in tone and sustain. Very cool nondestructive little mod if you don’t use the trem bar.
What a strat. Of course Michael’s playing helps. Good vibes. Cool video.
Guitar of the day is the best day of the week. Goddam that is a sexy strat. Thanks Jen and Lemmo, you guys rule. 🤘🏻
I love a vibato bridge, myself. The function of it, plus the springs lend an illusion of a mini reverb tank built in. There an atmosphere to 'em that I love.
I'd be way to tempted to put a Tele bridge pickup and baseplate in a guitar like this. The aesthetic of the natural + blackguard combo would push me over the edge. I'd tun it into some deviant Tele runaway that came home acting different,
When I was starting to play tolerably in the early 80s, it seemed like natural finish Strats were really common. Even the budget brand copies. But mostly with a white guard.
This is beautiful! The hardtail is a subtle variation on Strat sound, unless you play a Strat. It's obvious to my ear, but hard to describe.
It seems mostly in the attack, envelope and decay, rather than the voice itself.
Very sneaky.
Looks great and sounds great as well
Nice guitar and very good playing. Congrats
Incredible tone!
Bridge pickup looks like a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder and they're fantastic
I love the nat and blk,
Looks and sounds great.
This guitar sounds really good. 😊
Hang 'Em High!!! Nobody can nail that riff! LEMMO RULES!!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻. That was awesome Michael.
They're heavy but that eastern rock maple and hard ash is so dynamic and fast.
Stratocaster my favorite
Nice guitar. I used to own a 1977 hard tail Strat. Great playing as always, Mike.
Lemmo ,F ing amazing brother
Awesome set Lemmo! When you get a guitar in your hands, you can do no wrong! Just keep that in mind every time you play! Awesome video Jen! Love the guitar! Thank you!
I think Jen saves the best woohoo's for Straturday!
That looks a lot like the ‘74 hardtail Strat I bought new. It came with a white pickguard, but when Fender started using black guards I put one on. Kept the white pickup covers and knobs. It was a good look, but the guitar always sounded thin.
Sounded awesome, did fender use the S9 designation up to 1982? Will I have to date the electronics to be sure of the year?
When you have sweet lemon’s, you make Lemmo-nade!(well played 👍)
awesome!
I think that pickup in the bridge is called a quarter pounder
How much does it weigh? My 79 Silver Anniversary clocks in at a back bending 11lbs.
Yeah they are heavy
My natural S9 Strat weighs 8 lbs 6 oz
Neck is stamped Sept of 78
You rock Lemmo 🤘🏼
Came for the guitar. Stayed for the playing.
Awesome!
Wow great looking
Magic❤
I want Lemmo to play a Sunburst Firebird in one of these!
Awesome dude 👍😎
Yup…. Thats the one i want.. 78 or 79 hardtail in natural…. That bridge pickup looks like a SD quarter pound…
man for the get go she sounds great..oh and my shirt size is large
These are fantastic natural with a rosewood neck ….
It's a monster.
Looks like a Duncan Quarter Pounder in the bridge.
Holy moly. That was some killer playing. And what a beautiful and unique strat!!
I had a 1980 Strat. Great pickups. Terrible heavy body but I didn’t care to be honest.
Zappa strat.!!!❤
Jan Borysewicz used to play such a guitar in the early 80s;)
Pretty sure that one’s made it across the pond from Australia
You always get some nice tunes out of the Guitar.. Really play it instead of just bashing it!🤣
I bought mine new, same color with a trem. The cutaways are not as deep as older and newer Strats, and the ash body is a lot heavier. Great guitar, though.
What's the name of the first riff??
I have a 79 strat. Its awesome. 70's strats get a bad rap which is not fair
Michael showed his Viper
MIM hard tail please
This tone myth is true: hardtails hit harder! ✌️
Hardtails are the best
Bridge looks like a Duncan Quarter Pounder...... kind of high output for a single coil
let er rip!
I bet Joe Banamasa bought it..cuz..why not...he doesn't have enough..
What a somewhat vintage guitar, thought you only deal with new guitars
Looks like a quarter pounder
NI
the bridge pickups look like a Seymour duncan Quarter Pound, very fat pickup
Lemmo is a gifted player... No doubt.. But I have to say, again, I really don't like that fender amp...
Lemmo, you gotta lay off the whole 'I'll just be my own drummer' thing with too much reverb.
Naw….. it’s all good
@@Pchristensen20 yep....if it aint broke.....!
Everything was great until that last piece. Total trash
Clearly YOU don’t know the song… one of EVH’s greatest riffs
what a complete and unnecessary clown comment !!
I got the exact same guitar but its got a whammy bar...tunea matic behind with the three screws for the Allen wrench in it and then adjust the neck.. the neck is like a baseball bat..
It's natural finish to
Micro
Hardtails are the best
