You continue to blow me away with your playing Michael. Keep it up, I love this channel because of you, Norm and the rest of the amazing guests who stop by and play.
At the time companies like Schecter had brass parts, and Fender jumped on the bandwagon too in the late 70,s,had a redesigned bridge with a large brass tonebar, hotter x-1 bridge pup,and came in 3 colors, and return to smaller preCBS style headstock, nice ax
These came out in 1980 just before the Yamaha guys came in in 1981 and then did the Elite series. The bass counterpart to 'The Strat was the 'Precision Bass Special' which was active. No doubt Freddie Tavares had a hand in designing these- he was there until 1985
Bravo, Lemmo! What a great performance! I always love to hear a solo guitarist playing with loops, and you did it so well. Sorry I live in another part of the country, would love to hear you live. Keep putting out these great videos.
Dude, I filled out for one of your guitar giveaways a while back and I swear since I did that I get 40 to 60 spam calls every day. I’m not even exaggerating at all. Whoever you sell peoples info to is straight up making my life a living hell
Excellent playing, best sounding Fender in a while, that guitars got real character & I agree a very warm tone. Someone’s gonna get lucky with this one, a real players axe, I’m jealous ! ! ;-)
Ive been using up oxygen for over a half century now, and I remember back in the early 1970s many said post 1964 Strats were better and the 1970s strats were shit. Then in the 1980s said 80s strats were called shit compared the the 1970s and older ones. Again the 90s were shit compares to 1980s and older ones and so on all the way until nowadays. And it will very likely continue on until the last strat is made.
Not sure if Micheal meant black walnut finish or black walnut strat? But my friend has a late 70s walnut the Paul, I know Fender and Gibson had a special run of walnut guitars in the late 70s early 80s. Made a 68 mahogany thinline with a walnut top for a friend which was amazing. Kind of a mid range focused tone wood. Not too fat not too bright
Didn’t these have a two-way rotary switch instead of the second tone knob that added in a bunch of series/parallel pickup options, including neck and bridge, or all three?
@kleatsmythe no, not saying you are wrong. I am shocked to learn this if it is true. I only thought they were coworkers and I don't recall any announcement of him being a father. I knew she had a baby, I thought she was married or dating another guy. Well, who knows.
Great playing! I use to own one of these, surprised that you mentioned the 5 way switch more than once but did not mention the rotary switch? It was the pretacessor to the S1 switch. Also wondering if anyone noticed that Fender messed up the headstock shape on these?
Here’s a bit of interesting info. The first run of The Strat with serial numbers starting with E0 didn’t come with gold plated parts and had chrome tuners. Fender used up stuff they had left over from their Brassmaster series of aftermarket parts. If you see one with a S9 ( used for a short time in 81) or G0 serial number then the parts are gold plated, tuners will be gold as well. The Walnut The Strats serial numbers start with CC.
The Strat has a 7 way switch which does stuff, would have been cool to hear that. Tuning was problematic, well dealt with on the fly. Lemmo is a real pro and a great guitarist.
This model was offficialy called "the Walnut Strat",which came a little later than the normal the Strat models, like the red, blue and white colored versions. Most of these models have a clear coat finish, but some are finished in a kind of sunburst (from clear coat to dark stained to the body outline). Most famous player of this guitar is Roland Orzibal of Tears for Fears, who use it live and videoclips, for the song Shout. Lemmo, great idea about your t shirt merchandise, but this green(plastic) colored t shirt,is the worst color,to sell t shirts. ruclips.net/video/Ye7FKc1JQe4/видео.htmlsi=spK4_GaTELJ6QKJC ruclips.net/video/Ye7FKc1JQe4/видео.htmlsi=spK4_GaTELJ6QKJC
1980 introduced in Metallic Red, with gold tone, was drop dead gorgeous.. guitar player had one in 1981, and beat the hell out it then…….Who knew?? They were $700 guitars then, and that was a TON of Money… But Hey, your grand parents paid $45,000 for their house also…. such is life!…
Lemmo just keeps getting better every time.
Bingo !!😉
I have to add my congratulations. That was.
Truly unbelievable.

That was like a front row seat at a Strat concert. Fantastic Michael and awesome audio Jen. ❤️
That is one funky sounding Strat and some very tasty licks as well! Rock on! ✌️
OMG ... gonna order, ASAP!!
Tommy Shaw used one (“The Strat”) on the “Kilroy was here” tour in the early 80’s. Can be seen in the concert film for that tour.

Awesome, Lemmo! 🥰
1980s fender is always good stuff sounds great man
It's a shame Fender discontinued these, if ever there was a time to reintroduce The Strat..... My gosh, what winner. 😎❤
The Spirit of Hendrix is in your playing.
That was some incredible playing. Great demo Michael!
Nice Michael 🎶🎶🎸

Beautiful guitar and it sounds like a Strat.
Find a "the s. g." from '79. They were also made of walnut. I still have mine.

I bought my Strat back in 1980 but it was in Olympic White with a maple neck. It's nice and heavy too.
Still looking for one of these "strat",... h.m.,,,,,great unit to own,
She’s a killer strat, gunpowder, gelatine, dynamite with a laser beam…..ah, forget it.🎶🎸👍
I really wish they'd go into more detail on the guitar itself.
That sounds dope

Awesome playing!! Give him that guitar!!
That is a special instrument.
Michael should insure his hands.

Yeah but not all of them are shit compare to a decade before
One of the most phenomenal guitar stores in America. If you want to know how much it weighs, you can't afford it.
I know this guitar . Those flat poles are rare and Great . My 75/76 Best Pickups Ever . Also the fat frets were squared off with the Big Head Stock 🤟
wow your playing is great..
Nice guitar, sounds really nice. Do you guys ever check to see if the electronics and pickups are stock?
Oooooh! I’m from the early 80’s too…….that strat is in better condition than I am though 🤣
Not sure if Micheal meant black walnut finish or black walnut strat? In the seventies, there were Strats in Walnut stained, this one is full Black Walnut, but has a kind of sunburst finish.
Didn’t these have a two-way rotary switch instead of the second tone knob that added in a bunch of series/parallel pickup options, including neck and bridge, or all three?
Manic depress O , Lemmo, awesome
I bet Lemmo and Jen are the coolest parents
Huh? Jen and Michael are a couple? I had never heard that before.
@@RoadKing-ky2bs I thought the baby she had was theirs... Could be wrong

Hey Lemmo could you please do a rig run down on your pedals.I am curious what kind of overdrive you are using
Great playing! I use to own one of these, surprised that you mentioned the 5 way switch more than once but did not mention the rotary switch? It was the pretacessor to the S1 switch. Also wondering if anyone noticed that Fender messed up the headstock shape on these?
Wonderful guitar - very Hendrix-isch ...
Nice job!
Fender lost money on every "The Strat" guitar. Heavey gold plating on solid brass. Cool guitars. Came in custom colors too with matching headstocks.
I watched that Trogly video, too.

@@jimir68 Good to know. Thanks. I have a 1980 blonde with matching headstock. Great guitar.
@@jimir68I have an “Strat” with a serial number beginning with E0 and it does have gold plated hardware, also has chrome tuners. Go figure? lol
so impressing
Gorgeous
Awesome
Love the t shirt!
I had the version that came after that one. Black Walnut Elite. A bit fifferent, but pretty.
I know he played some Hendrix but are the other riffs originals? The riff with the treble pickup was killer.
Well Done.
Dude I was just looking at this guitar yesterday and here is it being demo'd.
Still For Sale?
What is the fretboard made of?
Should have played godzilla by blue oyster cult with that shirt on
He has a song of his own called Godzilla
Normally not a fan of gold hardware, but it looks so pretty against that body colour
I liked it
The Strat has a 7 way switch which does stuff, would have been cool to hear that. Tuning was problematic, well dealt with on the fly. Lemmo is a real pro and a great guitarist.
Lemmo I know that damn strat weighs a ton., you know that's a boat anchor ⚓️
I love the comments of the woman behind the camera. She’s funny!
Is that in Agnesi tuning?. 😉
I have one EXACTLY like that.
Awesome T shirt Mike, can Jen design me one.
You would to own that guitar how much shiped to Canada

nice pickin'
Uber Git Playing brother you play that so well I think Norm should give you that guitar based on your white hot performance
Roland Orzabal of Tears for Fears use to play one like this.
A tonal sister to the ‘79 walnut Les Paul The Paul albeit w/ fancier appointments. Woman Tone.
Not my taste on looks, but the sound is awesome!
Very,very.............................................Green !!!!!!!
