I love this guy’s reactions!!! After seeing your last 2 vids, I have this back story in my head that he’s been a music private lessons teacher locally for a couple decades. You decided to get back into piano as an adult, found him, started taking lessons for a few years, and just thought “god damn, this guy’s insight is genius and I have to share this guy with the world” and decided to make a YT channel.
Actually 10 000 days is equivalent to about 28 years, or close enough to it..not 3 years. I believe this album is a tribute/ode to Maynards mother who struggled with a debilitating disease for that many years.
I agree. It's a very intelligent way to construct a song. I'm not really a metal guy, but I love the way these guys piece together their music. Sometimes it's like an auditory puzzle to me
Classical musically trained, it would be interesting to hear his opinion on "Invincible" from the newest album since it's almost entirely in a 7/8 (or 3/4-4/4) time signature, even when the tempo changes.

Tool musical journey is in my personal opinions one of the best artistic journeys you can go on...From this to Third Eye all the way from Wings for Marie to Lateralus, The Grudge to Schizm, EVERYTHING.. This band is such a wonderful gift to humanity! I would recommend diving into the lyrics more and trying to understand what the songs mean. Nevertheless, enjoying these videos a lot!
@@GreatmeasuresDefinitely read lyrics. But don't read them while you're reacting. Maynard is very adamant that he/his lyrics are not the center of attention. As soon as Judson said, they were hanging from the ceiling and covered in silver stuff and were doing weird stuff on stage, it really brought me back, and he is correct. I saw them in 2001, they were doing their tour for Lateralus and what he is referring to was when they played Schism live. They had people walking around and hanging upside down in like a cocoon as I could best describe it. Maynard was performing in his underwear and it was pouring down rain outside. Still to this day one of the best shows I've ever been to! Can't wait to see his reaction to some very complex songs from Tool soon!

Tool lyrics exist on multiple levels. Even the name Tool is meant to be interpreted many ways. Like you're a tool. Or that this music is a tool. I've found that I've found different meanings to their lyrics as I've aged. Which is wild. Maynard always writes that way, double entendres and such. This song, yea about pot, but also hypocrites (pots) who call the kettle black in regards to politicians and others who put their views/laws on others while doing what they want.
