Personally I feel like one the mission was absolutely real but branch had a secondary mission of testing 621 aka the player. From what I gathered from some of the dialogue and arena descriptions of king and chartreuse the call sign “Raven” is passed on to someone deemed to be worthy of the name. Which i assume said person would be chosen by whoever currently holds the Raven name but should the “Raven” perish before finding a worthy successor then the task falls to the other members of branch.
The Long Version: The Dam was attacked by two top performers of the Arena, King and Chartreuse. The RLF says that it was Arcabus that hired them and Raven accepts the mission to defeat them. However, when Raven engages Chartreuse, King says that they have to fight Raven together as this is a Branch mission, meaning that the attack by the independent mercenaries was actually not Arcabus' doing. Regardless of the circumstances, "Raven" engages with them in a fight. When the original Raven (Nightfall) shows up, their Operator communicates with 621 and says that they want to see of they can do the Raven name justice. Raven then defeats the original and Branch, who then proceed to sit on the sidelines to see where 621 goes on a Raven's wings. After the mission, Ayre looks into Branch and finds out that they are a group of rotating mercenaries and now their responsibilities belong to 621, Raven. The Short Version: The attack on the Dam was Branch's idea and used it to lure out 621, Raven, to test them to see if they're worthy of the Raven name, and passed.
There's also dialogue if you kill King and/or Chartreuse before Raven appears. I got the King one on my first try, with Chartreuse telling the original Raven that King's dead and shouting that she'll kill you. (It actually happens during the cutscene iirc)
I feel like the tone in some of the voicelines were really good. Mainly the line where Chartreuse tells King to stop being bossy and also when she tells him to quit telling her what to do. You can sorta feel the distain that she seems used to in her voice lines. The same one with "Well, you took your sweet time" has a nice exasperation to it that sells it
I like that we get some of Nightfall Raven's character from the operator and the Branch ACs. Along with some data logs and other mentions, feels like there was an interesting story behind them.
This was one of the coolest missions. Definitely felt like i was playing AC2 Another Age again with these Back to back AC fights Also your colors remind me of the Arbelist from Full metal Panic
There is a data log about a sketch done by STV that talks about a four person group, with one of them being an operator and the other three being pilots. I assume that is Branch, because I think it also said that they were secretive.
When had a sigh of relief the first time I saw Nightfall Raven as I originally thought it would be a 2v2, but then scared when it became a 3v1 while resources were already low from the first two ACs
I got an dialogue of Ayre telling me to not give up yet(just one line). Since you usually focus on enemy lines idk if you saw that, but It happened almost if the game noticed that I wanted to gtfo because I basically was on the run at that point.
Yeah, its a player low HP line. I forgot to include it since I didnt have a good way to track all the dialogue at this time, unfortunately. It wasnt until I made the Hawkins/Pater video that I found a text script.
i tend to use railcannons more often as they are less expensive and have slightly more ammo and don't need time to reload as they are energy weapons, but yeah this mission is certainly a great money farm with the right setup

King's words are interesting... "I'll have a perch ready for them." That implies that Branch is centred around the Callsign of Raven, as birds perch on branches.
Boy did I find this mission to be absolute BS the first time I did it, I wasn't expecting OG Raven to appear so I was a little more careful, like with the other fights when I fight 2 ACs. A minute into the fight ASTER CROWN and UMBER OX are still operational and the cutscene triggers and for a moment I thought "Oh shit, in NG+ instead of fighting Raven they help me agaisnt these two, neat" (since it's the common trope of receiving help from an unexpected source in a tight spot, and these two were kind of annoying to fight at first, ASTER CROWN specifically with the shield). Imagine my face once NIGHTFALL dropskicks me in the face, staggers me and pile bunks me while the others are still shooting, instantly killing me (I somehow missed the third health bar appearing). Never change FromSoft, never change XD Still, I had a lot of fun, and the second time in NG++ I managed to win with a cosplay build (I tried to make the SUPPLICE, from AC4) and somehow limiting my build made the win more satisfying, even if the process felt somehow worse.
For me it went Chart: "When the going gets tough, the tough- WHY... WON'T... YOU... DIE!?" *explodes* Also I always found it interesting how Raven doesn't speak, we only hear their operator I wonder if it's because they can't speak or if it's for freedom of interpretation
If he kill chart first and continue fighting king, when raven is starting to fly in the zone if you finish off king before raven lands in, ravens operator says thank you king
Double needle launcher really trivializes every single fight in the game. Add dual gatling guns on heavy quad legs and literally every enemy is a joke.
Or had more than one mission per playthrough related to them. It's so weird that Branch only gets a single mission and we don't get an explanation as to why they'd attack the Liberation Front.
@@jeff3221 The answer is in the video. They were drawing you out. If you die with both King and Chartreuse alive, King says they're leaving and Chartreuse asks about the mission only for King to say they completed their objective. The objective was you all along. This is also why King says he'll help Chartreuse, because he knows there is no real objective for them being there. It's all just a ruse.
@@LordoftheDice yes and no. While the mission seems to have just been a means to draw us out, we're an independent mercenary... they can just make up a job. Why would Branch, a group of free mercs who champion freedom, squash freedom fighters to draw us out? It just seems like it's pretty out of character with their arena descriptions and the dialogue of Raven's Operator. Raven's solo sortie was against the PCA and Corps, so, it's odd that this route has them attack the Liberation Front instead.
@@jeff3221 Having a job be posted by top independent mercenaries would arouse suspicion (why don't they just do the job themselves?) and there's possibly safeguards in place to prevent filing under a false identity (I've yet to come across a mission where the person who files it turns out to be someone else.) Even if you could subvert that system, it might raise red flags with Walter or Ayre who seem to look into missions in-depth before adding them to your list. Having them attack a group that has been known to hire you in the past is a pretty good way of getting them to call upon your services again. The Liberation Front is a known entity, you've worked for them before, and they don't quite have the means to defend themselves like the corporations do. Therefore, when they show up to bully them, they're more likely to call on you and you're more likely to come help. (Also this might be a stretch, but maybe they wanted to see if you would actually come help the Liberation Front again if they called on you for help, or if you attacking Balam before was just a fluke or you taking advantage of the situation) Also note that they're doing pretty superficial damage. They're destroying some MTs and such, but they don't really make it past where you already destroyed everything of value (before turning on Balam in the alternate mission.) Everything points towards it being a ruse to draw you out into a confrontation.
There are a number of other dialogue lines you missed should you defeat Raven before defeating king and chartreuse , beating Raven before king (lone survivor), beating Raven before chartreuse (lone survivor), beating Raven then defeating either king or chartreuse (you get different dialogue depending on which one is the last survivor).
Should clarify the last one I mentioned is defeating Raven with king and chartreuse, then upon defeating either king or chartreuse you’ll get a different set of dialogue from the lone survivor.
If you mean, killing Raven then killing them, there is no new dialogue that's not present beforehand. They don't really react to Raven being killed unless the player dies to them. Their death dialogues are the same as dying earlier which I cut out for brevity reasons. I just retested this twice as well. If you have the dialogue lines(so I can cross check) that'd help or even a video that'd be great too. I know in P2 that I'm still missing some dialogue, but some of it I've yet to see anyone else trigger.
2 dialogue lines I happened to find while attempting to find the ones I mentioned are: kill king immediately after ravens cut scene but before Raven reaches the fight Raven will say “…Thank you. King.” Kill chartreuse immediately after Raven cut scene but before Raven reaches the fight Raven will say “…Thank you. Chartreuse.”

It depends on what From wants. In this case it seems like King/Chart dies, maybe Raven too. During the iceworm everyone survives. During the Dam mission in chapter one, 621 doesn't die and gets fired/threatened by the redguns, but in most missions 621 just dies.
You can actually get all the parts Raven uses, the core, arms and legs are all the same as on the starter AC and you can get the head when you complete all the bonus arena battles that become available in new game +!
Question: we know than Branch have 4 AC pilots atm of the game. We have King, Chartreuse, (Original Raven). But whos the fourth ? Sulla maybe ? I dont know.
@@GreyCaliber yup, as always in ACs series and Novels, the operator is not in the mech with the pilot but in communication at distance. Like Walter for 621.
Sulla is probably working with allmind if my theorie is good, but I just cant find who the 4 pilot is. Or maybe there is not, but informations of chartreuse and king on the arena tells something else.
@@SuperDarkmasterXno its 3 ac pilots and the operator, even without the dialog, the records state that there are 3 people in branch with their identies shown a female opperator, a male ac pilot and a female ac pilot, the forth member is unknown this is raven, check the last 6 logs in the archive its pretty noted that there are only 4 members of branch
@@SuperDarkmasterX These might be minor spoilers depending on how far through the game you've gotten, but on NG++ the Watchpoint mission has differing dialogue. Most notably, Sulla's death quote changes to "Walter, forget about the hound." This change only occurs after you've gone down a particular path, meaning that Sulla is already aware of who 621 is getting involved with during the NG++ route. It doesn't strike me as something that he's happy about, but something that he feels even Walter won't be able to handle now that Raven has gone down that path. Of course, he ends up being right. Personally, I think Sulla works for the PCA, though there's a log you can find on the Sea Spider mission that says that the PCA takes orders from an AI. It would be strange to find out that allmind is ALSO that same AI with as many times as NG++ puts you on a mission for Allmind that is directly at odds with the PCA.
You know what? My dumb-ass thought "Raven's operator" was talking about the pilot for some reason. I dunno why tf I didn't realise sooner, we don't ever even hear Nightfall's Raven. You JUST SAID you had a perch for me. RuUude.
Usually they die but sometimes they live. Iguazu survives his AC exploding multiple times. V/VIII Pater also survives his fight with you despite his AC being destroyed.
Operator =/= Pilot. The female voice we heard representing the Raven isn't the pilot, she's an operator that followed the battle from safe place and guiding the pilot like Walter so of course Raven's operator here would live on. But if you mean the pilot then look at the comments above.
I breezed through the game with a fairly unimpressive AC (still love it though) but this mission really fucked me up man it was the most challenging one of them all
This is my conclusion on this fight 1.Nightfall raven and our raven:huginn and muninn 2.Branch: yggdrasil ( symbolises as new life or new world) 3.Perch: odin shoulder (king always say that need to be ready the perch for new raven) 4.Allmind: odin the all-knowing and also a manipulated person 5.Overseer and allmind shared same emblem with reverse triangle meaning they oppose each other objective 6.ayre and allmind has different personality to ac pilot where ayre more like to be supportive and alway give choice to raven while allmind more like to control iguana to follow the plan 7.ayre in old norse meaning a shingle beach or in Arabic has 2 meaning 'best friend' or 'penis' 8.doest vascular plant look like a tree branch? 9.xylem is a plant vascular to transport water and mineral (nice foreshadowing from software)
Also do these pilots actually get into their AC or is it controlled from a different location? Sometimes they say withdrawal and sometimes they just flat out die? Confused about this
The pilots are inside their AC’s, and while modern AC’s have an ejection option it’s of course not always possible to do so given the nature of these engagements. I imagine it also comes down to the pilot and their pride/mental stability, as some (e.g. Iguazu) are shown to eject whenever possible while others (e.g. 621) would never do so and so instead die with their AC.
From the AC6 "Story trailer" it would seem like 621 was Intergrated into the AC! so some basically die with their AC destroy but some had cockpit i presume as @ohgloriousme said
The OST upgrade that lets you go into battle overweight with a movement penalty. It also lets you purge weapons for more mobility without using all the ammo.
Can you do Vespers Pater dialogue? This guy also deserves better😢 Just the most chill dude all around doing his work. Was he also working for schneider or what? They have similar voice
Pater is the dual personality stereotype in this game(his AC name is Dual Nature for coincidence), in front he is the good hardworking liaison but in battlefield he succumb to his big ego and seeing other as lowlife as other evil Vesper.
Beat the game once, on New Game + on the Dam Mission with the Redguns, you get incoming message from the RLF. Accept their request and the mission will unlock. Good luck fighting them at once.
It was stated during a dialogue. Raven is a name carried by a group of mercenaries(even outside rubicon) who symbolize free will and resolve. King and Charteuse are part of branch, a sort of support group for Ravens, thus the name branch.
@@RavenFlau That's not entirely true. Here is a proper explanation. 1)The Branch is a secretive organization with a rotational four-member membership, of which King, Chart and Raven are members (Raven is not just a friend to them, judging form the line "we'll prepare a perch (Raven-specific position) for them", implying that when they do find someone worthy of carrying the title Raven, the position for that new Raven will be made ready for them in Branch). This also means that they do look for new people potentially worthy of being rotated into one of the four positions within the group whenever they get a chance. 2) According to the Arena data, Branch doesn't have any strict rule regarding position management like you see in other official associations (meaning, hierarchy, promotions or such). Instead, the positions are rotated among and taken up by those who become members. So, if they find anyone worthy of being within the group, one member will give up their position (probably when the time is right). This rotation could happen due to various kinds of circumstances. In our case, they realized that there was someone using the title of one member, and so they want to see if that person is worthy of keeping that title and thus being rotated into the position of "Raven". 3) The current real Raven (there's only one, we're simply using the title as an imposter, so we're NOT a Raven, just because we decide to call ourselves that) tells us that "Raven" is not a name, but a title given to those who have the will to choose. Since the group is after us for using the title, and from how they mention preparing a perch for us if we prove ourselves, it's clear that proving our worth would mean having the real Raven give up his position when he's ready so that we can be rotated into the place of that title holder (since there can be only four members at a time), which in turn means there can only be one Raven. If it's simply that ANYONE with a will to choose can be a Raven, Branch doesn't need to prepare a Raven-specific position (what they mean by "perch", since perching is what birds do on branches) in Branch for the new Raven while the old one gives up his place. So, if someone has that quality, they're meant to truly take on that title instead of merely using it as a fake ID. It's like using the title Pope in real world. Not everyone can be the Pope at once, just because they decide to call themselves that. If they're qualified for that position, only officially taking up that position really makes you the Pope, not just having the qualification.
So is Raven's operator the pilot and she's just talking to her AC like it's a person or is Raven the pilot and they also have an overly chatty voice in their head?
raven is probably the pilot but by protocol they are silent to conceal identity , and only directly talks to their handler , also the handler just prefers to communicate with raven's enemies instead .

The attack on the Dam was Branch's idea and used it to lure out 621, Raven, to test them to see if they're worthy of the Raven name, and passed.
Nice video, so much dialogue I missed/ didn’t know existed in just one of oh so many missions
Yeah, Fromsoft put in a good bit of effort on writing out dialogue for a lot of player's actions
There's also dialogue if you kill King and/or Chartreuse before Raven appears.
I got the King one on my first try, with Chartreuse telling the original Raven that King's dead and shouting that she'll kill you. (It actually happens during the cutscene iirc)
Huh. I'd always assumed that they just got knocked out and didn't die.
I didn't know this! I only did the mission twice and pile bunked both of them before the Nightfall AC showed up
I feel like the tone in some of the voicelines were really good.
Man I hope we will get a dlc. Love this game.
when king says "you must be raven"
my head just keep on thinking about "one of the infamous handler walter's hounds"
I love the connection and dynamic with these three, I'd love to see a whole piece of media just dedicated to Branch.
This was one of the coolest missions. Definitely felt like i was playing AC2 Another Age again with these Back to back AC fights
Also your colors remind me of the Arbelist from Full metal Panic
I haven't finished the game once but this game seems to have a high replayability
You need to complete it 3 times to get all the missions, endings, parts, etc.

this is art, thankyou!!
can't wait for another full dialog content
I do wonder who's the branch 4th member is? we fought 3 of them in this mission
I think they're the operator that speaks for Nightfall Raven
yeah, i also think it's the operator. would've been awesome if there was a branch path or missions.
There is a data log about a sketch done by STV that talks about a four person group, with one of them being an operator and the other three being pilots. I assume that is Branch, because I think it also said that they were secretive.
Wish there was an option to keep them alive while still getting a victory
So cool after all these years to hear Otsdarva's snarky voice coming through King as a chill comrade now
i hope at least the two other Branch member survived. but it look very likely that Raven died during our encounter
Thx, this mission was fun !
I got an interesting bit of dialogue by finishing off the second AC while Raven was finishing his flight in.
@@GreyCaliber I see.
Thanks a lot for the videos btw!
Despite beating king and Char, I fully believe they are alive. Raven, it’s a given they are alive too based on the dialogue.
These 3 mercenaries doesn't sound like they are dead when we defeat them.
This mission is my money farm. Two shotguns and two stun needle launchers.
I didn't know farming was even needed. Most parts are useless and you end up with 10 million after 3 playthroughs
I swap parts and tweak different stats differently so often I might as well be a shape shifter, what do you mean useless?

i tend to use railcannons more often as they are less expensive and have slightly more ammo and don't need time to reload as they are energy weapons, but yeah this mission is certainly a great money farm with the right setup

King's words are interesting... "I'll have a perch ready for them."
That implies that Branch is centred around the Callsign of Raven, as birds perch on branches.
Raven doesn't seem happy that someone took his name
Never change FromSoft, never change XD
Still, I had a lot of fun, and the second time in NG++ I managed to win with a cosplay build (I tried to make the SUPPLICE, from AC4) and somehow limiting my build made the win more satisfying, even if the process felt somehow worse.
For me it went
Chart: "When the going gets tough, the tough- WHY... WON'T... YOU... DIE!?" *explodes*
Also I always found it interesting how Raven doesn't speak, we only hear their operator
I wonder if it's because they can't speak or if it's for freedom of interpretation
Same as White Glint in AC4A , the pilot is still the silent protag of vanilla AC4 but the operator(Fiona) do all the talk and narration.
It's probably both, 621's state is never explicitly said, and without an actual voice made things easier for us who wanna role-play anyway we want.

Never thought I'd hear Ryu Pilot an AC
I wish they made raven's ac boss battle an actual challange but it is what it is
Or had more than one mission per playthrough related to them.
His AI is actually pretty busted but since his parts are just your default, they can't make it harder
(Also this might be a stretch, but maybe they wanted to see if you would actually come help the Liberation Front again if they called on you for help, or if you attacking Balam before was just a fluke or you taking advantage of the situation)
Also note that they're doing pretty superficial damage.
King.”
Kill chartreuse immediately after Raven cut scene but before Raven reaches the fight Raven will say “…Thank you. Chartreuse.”

It'll be awhile since I have 3 other bosses in queue, but I'll do him after them, might be a few days at most
@GreyCaliber Not a problem at all! You're awesome
I do wonder how this game considers AC destruction in terms of death.
It depends on what From wants. In this case it seems like King/Chart dies, maybe Raven too. During the iceworm everyone survives.
During the Dam mission in chapter one, 621 doesn't die and gets fired/threatened by the redguns, but in most missions 621 just dies.
Too bad we can't get Raven's parts. It's a souped up version of the starter parts with a different head and it's the look I like the most.

Question: we know than Branch have 4 AC pilots atm of the game.
We have King, Chartreuse, (Original Raven). But whos the fourth ?
Sulla maybe ? I dont know.
So, Raven's Operator is a separate person from the pilot. This is in one of the sketches iirc.
Most notably, Sulla's death quote changes to "Walter, forget about the hound."
This change only occurs after you've gone down a particular path, meaning that Sulla is already aware of who 621 is getting involved with during the NG++ route.
Ngl this 3 sound like they where friends
You know what? My dumb-ass thought "Raven's operator" was talking about the pilot for some reason. I dunno why tf I didn't realise sooner, we don't ever even hear Nightfall's Raven. I thought the chick was just losin her mind a little lol. I'm just a ding dong.

Just question, the Operators live right even after thier Ac gets destroyed?
They can eject, although most usually die before they eject. Armored Core is kinda dark in that pilots are just expendable resources, sadly.
Logically, yeah.
As long as the core isnt heavily damaged, they can either survive or eject to save their lives.
All Victories are that same regardless who dies last?
I breezed through the game with a fairly unimpressive AC (still love it though) but this mission really fucked me up man it was the most challenging one of them all
This is my conclusion on this fight
1.Nightfall raven and our raven:huginn and muninn
2.Branch: yggdrasil ( symbolises as new life or new world)
3.Perch: odin shoulder (king always say that need to be ready the perch for new raven)
4.Allmind: odin the all-knowing and also a manipulated person
5.Overseer and allmind shared same emblem with reverse triangle meaning they oppose each other objective
6.ayre and allmind has different personality to ac pilot where ayre more like to be supportive and alway give choice to raven while allmind more like to control iguana to follow the plan
7.ayre in old norse meaning a shingle beach or in Arabic has 2 meaning 'best friend' or 'penis'
8.doest vascular plant look like a tree branch?
9.xylem is a plant vascular to transport water and mineral (nice foreshadowing from software)
oh cus ravens land on branches. i get it. very funny
I hope the DLC is about the Ravens guild
Hum there is dialog killing Raven first then both and one survivor dialog? Or only when you die?
Also do these pilots actually get into their AC or is it controlled from a different location? Sometimes they say withdrawal and sometimes they just flat out die? Confused about this
The pilots are inside their AC’s, and while modern AC’s have an ejection option it’s of course not always possible to do so given the nature of these engagements. I imagine it also comes down to the pilot and their pride/mental stability, as some (e.g. Iguazu) are shown to eject whenever possible while others (e.g. 621) would never do so and so instead die with their AC.
@@ohgloriousme ah hell yeah, thanks for the info man !

I think it’s fine to use (enjoy the game however you want), what I hate about people who use it is when they complain the game being too easy.
What is this Raven company??
Not exactly; if u read the arena descriptions of King and Umber Ox u will see they're part of a hacker group with unknown goals.
It was stated during a dialogue. Raven is a name carried by a group of mercenaries(even outside rubicon) who symbolize free will and resolve. King and Charteuse are part of branch, a sort of support group for Ravens, thus the name branch.
A bunch of weaklings who yammer about free will. Thing is, the weak don't get to decide anything. They have no free will
All i see is murder of crows
If they're qualified for that position, only officially taking up that position really makes you the Pope, not just having the qualification.

raven is probably the pilot but by protocol they are silent to conceal identity , and only directly talks to their handler , also the handler just prefers to communicate with raven's enemies instead .
What Trigger is trying to say in more lamen's terms is that "Raven's Operator" is to the Nightfall Raven as Walter is to Raven 621 (us the player).
