    I actually really love the lore he put into his AC for this video
    A pilot who was so legendary and confident in their abilities that they put their ENTIRE networth into making their AC out of pure gold because they were so incredibly confident they would never get hit or scratched. They breeze through missions and tear enemies apart, without a scratch on their perfect golden AC.
    Then, on a mission, the pilot makes just one tiny mistake which puts an incredibly small *scratch* right on their armor. This one mistake is enough to make the AC pilot lose it, they turn from a legendary operator to an absolute beast that no longer cares about the condition of their AC. They stop caring for it, stop polishing it, and start allowing hits to be made on them - but they hit back much harder than they ever have before.

    • @vencelfoldi8236
      @vencelfoldi8236 7 месяцев назад +54

      So true. I experimented with builds a lot and often tried to make specialized AC-s for missions, but I always had the ol' reliable setup, the build which I knew wasn't the best but was the closest to my playstyle and in general I was just the most comfortable with. Most of the times having an AC tailor fit for my exact playstyle felt just as rewarding as one tailor fit for the mission. And it also adds a tiny bit of a roleplay feel to it. It's not an AC assembled for a mission, it is MY armored core.

    • @Mirvra
      @Mirvra 7 месяцев назад +51

      Thing is, both methods are completely valid.
      If you make a specialized AC for every encounter you're displaying your understanding of your enemies weaknesses and your strategic ability to exploit them.
      And if you make one singular AC, either a jack of all trades, or a personality specialized one(IE: An AC molded to fit your playstyle completely). You can then show your tactical ability in how you use your AC's strengths and weaknesses to overcome challenges that might sometimes seem insurmountable for a lesser skilled pilot.

    • @leSmokySmoke
      @leSmokySmoke 8 месяцев назад +60

      There is a surprisingly well written story in this game that involves you. Although it is still an armored core game, so dont expect something extraordinary here.
      There are about 10 BIG boss battles. then most levels also have at least one miniboss in it, and then ofcourse there are enemy ACs, and the arena making for the most thrilling fights and there are at least 20 of those + the arena where you fight them 1on1.
      This game IS costomization, this shouldn't even be a question. the answer is just "yes" ofcourse there is a lot of customization and stuff to collect, this is armored core, this is the soul of the game.

      the big baddie on top of the dam while you take out AA turrets?
      I've ran through that mission over a dozen times to test out different setups on that enemy. it killed me my first three or so playthroughs of the mission (I was adamant to leave no survivors.) like the fourth time around, something clicked where I was like "wait, it has well-defined patterns and timings to its shots and swings. I can definitely dodge these consistently."
      haven't died to it since, even if I've came close w less than great setups.
      edit: it has since applied to many, many other enemies as well. like the Stridor eye, wiped me my first few tries until I realized the timing.

      I watched some videos about old AC games and some guy said he had a build like that. He had a bunch of disposable missile launchers strapped to a lightweight mech. I think they took a lot of the complicated stuff out of this game to simplify it a little.

    • @henchera

      @@loafloafer I think when they make the next game they're gonna try adding some of that stuff back in. People will be way more likely to accept tougher mechanics in the future now.

    • @unnameddelta38
      @unnameddelta38 7 дней назад

      @loafloafer to give you an idea of how complicated the older titles were: we used to have to worry about cooling in addition to energy while not being able to use the thumbsticks to aim or move. In AC Nexus: Evolution alone I must have spent hundreds of hours just trying to get my cooling rate balanced with energy. With emulators using joysticks or changing face inputs is simple, but things haven't always been so friendly hahaha another thing that stands out is that we had to switch to our R. BACK weapon. You couldn't just fire it with a button press, it was an alternate to your R. ARM but you could fire your L. ARM while using R. BACK. And some of our weapons straight stopped us like the Gatling for the BACK, it could fire 25 shots before reloading but you couldn't move and shoot with it.

I've used it as a type of cover, and against some bosses when they charge up one of those million lasers from everywhere attacks.

    When the invis mechs fall off wals, Vaati, they deal a unique 'Impact' damage, which deals ZERO damage, but makes your AC buckle under the load of something falling on it. The C-Spider DETONATES something when it lands, which is why it doesn't only deal 'Impact' damage, but also explosive damage.

    Edit: Well, I have beaten NG+ and NG++ now. Still haven't S-ranked every mission (just finished Escort the Mining Ship), let alone done extreme challenges, but I'm gonna watch.
    Edit 2: After watching it - I can understand why you would have given up around Balteus. Balteus definitely can be beaten without taking damage, but it would require a very precise combination of assault boosting and quick dodging on a suitably fast build due to his missile spam. Other than his missile spam none of his other attacks are as hard to fully avoid. A good strategy would probably be to have enough damage to basically instantaneously break his shield and stagger him while staying close enough that he can't use his missiles often. I have beaten him multiple times with different strategies, but never really was trying to take "no damage" (avoiding 95% of the missiles while being aggressive was enough), so I can't comment much more.

    For the last guy, tip, he has his own move where he goes in for a kick, often when you are flying above him. When he does that if you kick him too, you'll win (not sure if based on some specific stat who wins, but my reverse legs frame won that match normally). Then, if you use both the energy blades/melee weapons available at that point (If I recall right) plus a shotgun in you're right hand, it is possible to stagger him pretty quickly and half/third kill him with a chain. Now, I didn't pull the fight off no damage, but when I used this build (think some rockets on right shoulder as well), I managed to beat him in maybe a minute, and with barely any damage, as opposed to the other fights I often would die or take ages with. Might be worth looking into. That double melee plus shotgun build has let me stagger lock/kill a number of ACs within very short time, taking hits or not feels like luck depending on their weapons, but it's worth looking into I think if you can time it when they reload their other weapons often (the dash kick in, into melee, into other melee, while shotgunning at the same time, and all timed so the missiles or other also landed as this was going on, works wonders, once I unlocked the pile driver as well, I literally could one shot some ACs with this chain).
    EDIT: And if going melee/close, using some pillars or such as cover can help you not take damage till he gets to that reload point sometimes, if this would work, don't know, but... ya.
    In the end though, I don't see any chance of no hitting the next boss after this one, for... obvious and abundant missile related reasons.

I feel like the frustrating bit is that I don't think it's going to be completely within your control whether you can avoid taking minor amounts of splash damage in this game. Stuff like that pulse gun has RNG on the pattern that comes out and stuff like the plasma missiles are going to be finicky. I think it's probably possible to no-damage beat Sulla, but I think it'd be perfect play and luck at the same time, and that's beyond mind-numbing to try and grind through.
    Maybe instead of doing a perfect no damage run, you could go for a segmented run? See how many of the missions you can beat no-damage rather than letting any particular one roadblock you. The ones where you succeed it's great to see how you went about doing it!

    Besides full run, which could be rather long, I think a really cool content could be a montage of all successful attempts, including mech assembly and shop in-between. You know, as if you got it first try.
    Besides being entertaining, it could be a great boss and encounter guide: doing your strat while not resetting after each scratch is likely a good way to overcome a difficult blocker.
    Absolutely mad challenge, you got my sub, continue doing your stuff!

    vaati's commentary is the best because its like listening to one of your friends explain one of his favorite games to you in a call or irl and you no idea what he's talking about, except we do and its just gives off a weird wholesome vibe to his commentary
    anyway, good job with the no dmg run!

    I got a ps5 and AC6 day one largely because of your awesome video playing through all the previous games! I likely would've gotten both things eventually, but your review was a great intro to the series. I just finished ch.2 so i won't be watching any spoilers yet, just having some fun checking out some top tier gameplay for inspo and ideas!

    VaatiVidya, your videos are just incredible, they are such an intricate balance between content, lore, style, humour and tips, and somehow a soothing tell-tale tone is always there despite the hardships FromSoft fans have to endure. Thank you for everything you’re putting up, hope you keep on doing that forever !

      @@LargeInCharge77 This. 100%. While some bosses, if you play it right, can be no-damaged, there's a few where you quite literally cannot avoid every instance of damage. Like, for example. The enforcer. You're not going to no-damage that. Some of the lasers have 0 warning with low damage, and if you stick on him too long to avoid those, you're going to get slapped with a wave of pulses.

      @@senounatsuru6453 I know this is an old comment but I do want to make a small clarification. For the most part "no damage" means avoidable damage. Tunnel Sabotage is basically a poison swamp and there is actually no way around losing life, The rest of them game is damage avoidable. Don't believe, me? I have a video that compiles each mission in a FoR endinf playthrough with the misisons being completed hitless. Furthermore I've completed chapters 1, 2 and 5 hitless. Chapters 3 and 4 are a bit more tricky but I've got chapter 3 down to 6 hits and chapter 4 down to 11. The actual difficulty is terminal armor on some of the enemy ACs. There is no way to kill them outright.

    its incredible this game having so many parts and customizability yet still some of the early game parts can just full carry you all the way. the beginning laser pistol and vertical plasma launcher ARE SO GOOD. the pistols fire like crazy with 2 of them and the plasma launcher tracks like nobody's business its nuts

    I have no idea since the game isn't out yet, but would it be workable to have some strong blades or pile bunkers as extra weapons in your weapon bay and use those to quickly take down those last two AC's since it seems like the longer it goes, the more likely you are to take damage?
