    TCS 1-2 is the sweet spot for me. It allows you to focus on just driving and not being worried constantly about throttle oversteering and spinning. I have found it doesn’t slow me down at all. I do find that you just have to slightly change your driving style because you can’t rely as much on that oversteer rotation you get with no tc. So you can carry just slightly more speed through a corner and then be just ever so slightly more patient on throttle on exit so you don’t understeer wide. I do turn it completely off with FWD and AWD cars unless they have insane power and spin too much of throttle. If it’s a car that spins too much because of power then I may turn it to 1 to help with wheel spin. But most FWD and AWD cars are fine with TCS 0 as they don’t really get power oversteer

    TCS definitely has its uses, and purposes. It's function is too reduce engine torque during a wheel slip event. Normally turned up to like 5, it will slow you down. But it's perfect for wet weather times.
    I normally never use it above 1. Most times at zero. But if I'm in a race where I can't change tires(like the Dayton road course gr.3 race for example) I use TCS set at 1 from the start, and then later around lap 7 or 8, I bump it up to 2. Maybe 3 on the last lap. Mostly because the tires get to worn and slippery feeling. TCS can help save tires, and it can also help from spinning out of control when tires are in bad shape.
    In any race where it rains, I will bump tcs up to 5. Even with the intermediate, or full wets, in my opinion it's a must to use TCS on full. That's my secret weapon in races where it rains. Throttle control is very important, but you can gain a bit of speed in wet weather using both throttle control and TCS. At least my experience and practice has been that I can really get moving in wet weather using TCS. But I also use higher gears than normal. Keep the engine rpm lower in higher gears, it was able to maintain a good deal of speed in a wet track.

    Even on shifter karts, 1 TCS helps me. On cars that spin the tires and make me wreck I use 2. When it rains heavy and you don't have the right tire, I use 5. But as soon as I can I switch tires. You are right. There are cars that never need it. Some always, some under certain conditions only. You need to use the MFB and keep it set right. It is there for you as needed. Great video, I love that the difference is somewhat quantified! I typically drive road cars with 0, race cars with 1, and wet or other extreme cases with 2. It is so good to know that I'm only losing probably about a .1s compared to if I was driving with minimal wheelspin with TCS0. For me the stability is worth that much. If during a race I spin out once, then I lose much more than all those tenths per lap added together. Actually I just did the nurnburgring GP circuit experience, and found that that mercedes with TCS2 works even better for me, I could improve my lap times compared to the TCS1 setting, and I managed to get gold time.

    It really depends on the car/track/tyre combination (not to mention weather). Gr4 you can do with no TCS, for some Gr3 it is beneficial. I do use it for some older american cars, they have a lot of power and no traction, so usually it is a good tradeoff to minimize mistakes in a race.

      @@OGSomeOne lol dude I have been watching every single video for the last 3 years or so.
      They didn't made TCS better, they adjusted how much TCS is applied at each setting. Its literary written in the update notes:
      "Controls for the Traction Control (TCS) have been adjusted. The amount of intervention when set to '1' has been reduced, and increased when set to '5';"
      So (theoretical values):
      TCS before: 1 = 20% strength, 2 = 40%, 3 = 60%, 4 = 80%, 5 = 100%
      TCS now: 1 = 5% strength, 2 = 20%, 3 = 50%, 4 = 100%, 5 = 150%
      That's why it seems better, its weaker at lower values, which most people use.
      TCS will never become the norm. TCS in GT is an accessibility feature, an assist. And GT is already accessible as is. Unless they change the physics to make it a "full sim", which we all know will never happen as this is not GT intent.

    Turning of the TC in some cars is just crazy, gr1,2’s and some 3’s. Some high DR drivers are so stubborn about using it even when you see their cars twitching out of corners or spinning and they just lose time. Driving with it off just makes me over cautious and ultimately makes me slower, TC1 on and just focus on the racing suits me most races, sometimes more👍🏽

    My experience is a bit different. As an example: I chose the Genesis X for the manufacturers cup, a car that has a loose rear especially with RH and RM. For Nords I'll go with TCS2 as a safety precaution not to spin out in the first sectors where I have to use 2nd gear on corner exits. I try to use the throttle as if I had no TCS but don't always succeed. The moment TCS kicks in I loose at least a tenth of a second, sometimes even more, which adds up on the long run. I see it in the delta and also feel it through he wheel rim. Now I am not an advocate of No TCS. If it helps me, I'll use it too. But overall it makes me slower if you neglect the safety aspect of not most likely not spinning out, especially at Nords.

    • @jurakerleha
      @jurakerleha 7 месяцев назад +1

      TCS always makes you slower or at least in Gran Turismo 7, most of GT, GR1 cars do have TCS in real life, sadly TCS in Gran Turismo 7 is quite aggressive for my liking, in ACC TCS is probably best implemented
      From my own experience or rather my brother experience, my brother in GT7 with TCS and CSA he could compete with fastest drivers in Daily Races every time, same in GT Sports, he never run for whole time TCS, he changed settings from corner to corner, in one corner he run TCS 1, in other 2 etc and on the straights he turned off TCS , sometimes he forgot he turned off TCS and he floored throttle 🤦
      Did you tried CSA? I used to use it with good success and worked for me,you can try and see if it's better than TCS, for wet racing or rain, TCS is definitely better idea
      Another thing with TCS, with TCS on, your tyre wear is much worse than off plus understeer with TCS as well is quite a bad, plus braking as well not sure if its same but I think is bit worse?
      Personally I never judge people who use TCS and CSA and other aids, some people and streamers do judge for using aids

    In short, it depends on your skill level as well as the car characteristics, such as but not limited to drivetrain, weight, how easy it turns, etc. Usually, I use it to avoid spinning out and 1 to 2 is enough for most cases. 3 will be needed if you are on a super high power car, and 5 when there's heavy rain, but some times 0 if the car is predictable

  • @volkmerrodrigo
    @volkmerrodrigo 7 месяцев назад +1

    in my experience with GT7 and TC 1 or 2 is only effective when racing a more powerfull car that is prone to tail slides on tun exit, e.g. the Gr3 Supra. it's beneficial for me because I don't have the foot-mucle-memory to not floor it when exiting turns.
    On your case, you already have that muscle memory and experience not to press on the accelerator too much on turn exits because you are used to TC 0, so putting any numbers (aside from 4 or 5) won't make much of a difference for you.
    for me I usually race TC1 and only put TC 2 for the Supra or Genesis in Gr.3 cars as a fail-safe

  • @jsanders299
    @jsanders299 8 месяцев назад +1

    It’s worth throwing out there that if your skill/experience aren’t where his are (like a throttle masher for instance) especially with high power cars,that you may have to have TCS until you “grow” 😊.
    My default has always been 1, and then I adjust up or down from there.
    @polyphonydigital please make TCS a CAR tuning setting rather than a game tuning setting.
    I am just now working on learning to “steer” with the throttle in tighter corners to rotate the rear a little more.

    TC1 gives me sometimes mental speed in GR2 and GR1. I have more confidence to go early on throttle. Also with difficult cars I make less mistakes on TS1 so overall I’m faster. Especially when my tires are dead. Of course it limits my progress to avoid mistakes in long term, but makes game more enjoyable.

  • @BostonFaith
    @BostonFaith 8 месяцев назад

    Great explanation. I think TCS will have more impact on corners like Monza chicane in GR3 machinery for example. The curbs can unsettle the car resulting in power oversteer, so with TCS you can go flat out over the curbs. But Variante Ascari TCS will slow you down, it holds the car back occasionally when it's not needed.
    Turning off TCS made me faster eventually. Not because TCS itself, but because I understood physics better and was more aware on what I was doing.

    Professionals in the GR.3 class IRL usually set it to the lowest setting, so that's what I do and keep it at 0 for GR.4. In Round 3 during Online Qualifiers of the Manufacturer's Cup. I was matching a lot of A+ ranked drivers in the first sector, but I ended up losing more than a second in the 2nd and 3rd sectors. I had traction control set to 1. It's pretty safe to say that traction control set to 0 will always be quickest in a game like Gran Turismo, but finding consistency during a race is completely different than putting down a qualifying laptime where your focused on absolutely nailing that one perfect lap. For a lot of people like myself, we have to find the right compromise since we don't have the talent of A+ rated drivers. I'm an A | S rated driver, but I know that I probably don't have the talent to be an A+ rated driver because I only drive in cockpit mode for the immersion 😂😂😂

    The way i see TCS iis that for really good driver who generally almost never spin the wheels, having it at 1, 2 or 3 probably wont change anything cause the TCS wouldnt have to work that much or at all. Thats why you dont see it slowing you down.
    For average driver who arent perfect in corner and spin the wheel more often, they will feel like TCS is slowing them down cause it cuts the power but is it really slowing you down in that specific corner, losing a ten or two versus losing it and meeting the barrier or sand. For those players, they just need to understand that if TCS is slowing you down and cutting power its because of your driving that you need to improve (Use the right gear, dont be too aggresive or too early on gas)
    Im a Dr B driver, i still use TCS 1 mostly and sometimes 2 on car that tend to oversteer more and TCS still save my life a couple turns in a race. Like i said i prefer losing couples tens than losing it completely and i know that went TCS feels like its slowing me down its because there is something wrong with my driving. Using TCS on 0 can help showing you how to improve your driving and take better turn but i would use it in time trial and not in a race unless you dont mind the higher risk of crashing it and losing DR.

      I've found it absolutely does. My best example is the gr3 race at the Daytona road course. When you pit, you can only get enough fuel to finish the race, or you'll finish last. I used TCS to help save the tires, or myself from spinning out when the tires get worn down. Simply because the tires will get worn pretty bad in that race. It's probably the toughest solo race in the entire game. I always start that race with TCS set at 1. By lap 6 or 7, I bump it up to 2. If I start getting a little loose on the last lap, I'll bump it up to 3 or 4. It's a tough race to win regardless, but I've managed to win it while using TCS as a tool. Not so much as an assist.

    I never use TCS because it slows me,i have a very bad feeling in turn exit with these cuts of power(Also with the rain) and the tyres wear out equally for the more aggressive use of throttle.

    It's funny how some guys think TCS is for babies. Was on a wet track and half of the cars kept spinning out because they refuse to use TCS, strange. They'd rather lose the car.

      Suzuka at Exhibition Manu last year and Daily C at Spa recently, I used TC at 3, both with Mazda RX and I finished 4th from last (Suzuka) and winning with inter tyres destroyed at Spa meanwhile others who feel are the coolest driving without TC were struggling with rain and spinning a lot.

      No TCS will give you a better understanding of the limits of the car. So for learning it is much better imho. In a race it is up to you, but i would only use TCS in cars which actually have TCS. To keep some realism ;)

    Great analysis. And for the average player it dispels the myth that other RUclipsrs like to put out(TC snobbery) that you will be so much slower if you use it. Use whatever you feel comfortable with and you will progress faster to not using it.

    TCS strongly depends on your equipment.
    If you have a full fanatec setup you can likely learn to handle TCS0.
    If you’re using a cheaper wheel and pedals. TC1 may help make up for what you can’t fully feel.
    And you may need to go higher for controller.

  • @sirpuntalot1282
    @sirpuntalot1282 7 месяцев назад

    TCS only kicks in when wheels slip. In most of the corners in your video you go from 0% throttle to 100% throttle immediately. If you can do that with TCS 0 without spinning, then TCS 1-5 won't make a difference. If you have to carefully work on the throttle for accelerating out of a corner (RWD with high power for instance), then TCS will help you not spin. But typically it will reduce more power than necessary. A little slide can be managed and will be faster. This is why TCS 1 will be faster than TCS 5 but might not protect you fully from wheel slip and spinning. TCS 0 will let you handle all. More risk, but more gain. When wet TCS will help much more because it is much more difficult to fine tune throttle without spinning. So it would be good to see comparisons out of corners where throttle has to be managed and also in the wet ;)

  • @fung9815

    I think you misunderstood TCS. For reference, there’s a TCS icon down there in your dashboard, which even if you set to >0, it doesn’t activate until your car goes through some wheel spin or literally losing traction, which the icon will turn red. In some of the instances you tried in your video, there was no difference between 0 and >0 simply because the icon didn’t turn red and your car didn’t lose traction whatsoever

  • @chrisk164

    F tcs..I never use it.with 1-5 you lose immediate throttle..throttle control is car control

  • @lethal2453
    @lethal2453 8 месяцев назад

    You still only use 80% throttle on exit til you straighten up as though you aren't using TCS, so you are slower, if I use TCS 2 or 3, I flatten the throttle at the apex and can be fastest on track.

    • @efenba
      @efenba 7 месяцев назад

      You push the pedal 100% but TCS kicks in and cuts power to 60%. So the guy with TCS 0 and 80% throttle is faster.

    Very useless test. People like you, shouldn't test it(no offence - you are just to experienced for it). If you know how to drive - there won't be a huge difference. Imagine a person getting out of a corner and flooring the throttle pedal. With TCS he will be able to drive, but will loose a lot of speed. If he will turn it off - he will spin. And this is the reason people recommend to turn it off. To understand what are you doing wrong, and to understand that there are more options of using throttle than just on and off
