I remember watching this clearly in 1995, i was in hospital in Germany and watched the whole conpetition, what an athlete. I dont anyone realises how technical this event is, this was just peak prime perfect performance. Incredible speed, strength and technique in combination, a once in a lifetime moment. And what a gentlemen. salute
Espetacular surreal fenomenal nao existe palavras elogios como estes
Melhores do que estes ratificando obrigado.
Such a lovely guy
Jonathan Edwards undisputed GOAT of the Triple Jump event 🇬🇧🇬🇧
man you can see him getting emotional here. truly the GOAT
Still remember the 18.43 he did earlier that season, wasn't much above 2m/s. His hop landing so great, hardly loses any speed. Legend!
Yes, if he'd been further on the board he'd have almost hopped into the pit!
this is the professor and even more of the genius of the triple jump, to watch and see it is simply crazier
Jonathan Edwards is the kind of athlete, of human being, taht doesn´t matter which country is from. I think all athletics fans from around the world we love him and were really excited that magical day of two sublime world records, a treasure for sport Mr. Edwards, undoubtully.
My all-time favorite field athlete.
With the advances in technology Im really surprised no one has come close to breaking it.. it was the perfect jump
Christian Taylor is 8cm from it
@@Ok_Igwe you know what your right.. but just have to state he wont get that close again. He is past his prime,
@@djxcel23 it’s still possible tho just not probable

I remember watching TV with Jonathan being catapulted to legend status. 29 yrs later it's still miles ahead of any one since , just shows how amazing his jump is . And then won gold in the Olympics, perfect
What a candid and interesting interview, long may his record stand the test of time. A truly remarkable athlete !!!
I will never forget this moment when i was a boy, he flew like Michael Jordan.
A legend of the golden era.
So fast & so great technically!
This brings back so many fond memories, commentary was brilliant too
This is great to listen to. What a legend. Never get tired of watching these jumps.
Gem 💎 of a video.
There is just no wasted motion in his jumps
Ive watched that jump countless times, its mesmerising to watch, looks effortless like he was filled with helium 😂
The 18:43 jump was the greatest jump in my opinion, absolute perfection
Thank you for sharing this. Such an inspiration!!
The legend!
Legend. Pure poetry in motion 👌
Amazing 😻
I guess this was taped before Kevin Young's 400 Hurdles record was broken.
All of us who were competitive athletes can relate to that feeling at the time you were in the best shape of your life and knew you were and then looking back decades later in disbelief at what you did when you were younger. But to be the best ever in the world like he was and to hear him describe his disbelief that he did it was very interesting. He is such a thoughtful athlete. You will find that most people who set world records in athletics are also very intelligent about their sport and their event. I've always admired Edwards and he was one of my all time favourites because he was a 5'10" 160 lb. jumper and I was almost exactly the same size as he was and was also doing LJ/TJ. It was so awesome to think that you didn't have to be 6'2" to be successful at the TJ.
I've always appreciated his excellence, because in the UK they are a rare breed.
I love the triple jump, for me it’s the most technical and aesthetically pleasing event to view. Jonathan Edwards was made for the triple trump. Perfect physique, slender, speedy, wirey. Hope young Hibbert can test the WR, gonna require a perfect storm to beat it. I am a huge fan of JE 🙌🏽💫
Johnathan you are my hero
My sporting hero as a teenager
The Legend!
Tendons of Steel

Will he still have the record in a years time when it will be 30 years 😮 I hope so
Mera aapse vada hai Jonathan sir.
