    Yay, Mike! That was such an amazing moment to best Beamon’s mark, beat the great Carl Lewis, and destroy your own demons in 1 phenomenal jump. And to think that record still stands 30 years later. Amazing!

      Think of it this way. It took an incredible freak WR to beat Lewis. Even though Powell won. What blew me away was Lewis jumping 4 massive jumps over 8.60. I dont think anyone will ever do that again.

    The greatest field event competition ever, pure sporting drama. This is what athletics fans love to see, not some final round jump off/throw off fiasco! World athletics please take note, that idea needs to be dropped.

    • @khumokwezimashapa2245

      Could you please explain?

    • @paulyoung5393
      @paulyoung5393 3 года назад +2

      @@khumokwezimashapa2245 World athletics are currently running trials in some of the field events whereby only the top 3 athletes get a 6th attempt. Then that 6th round attempt determines the athletes finishing position. An athlete could break the world record in round one, be way ahead, have a foul in the last round and therefore finish 3rd. Crazy idea!

      Esta final gerou uma enorme expectativa para as Olimpíadas do ano seguinte. Mas a disputa entre eles ocorreu 5 anos depois em Atlanta 96, ultima de CARL Lewis, que ganhou o OURO, o MIKE se lesionou em seu penúltimo salto caindo de cara na caixa de área. E ficou sem medalha. Mas o recorde permanece até hoje.
