The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly, Jonah.
I was lucky enough to watch Jonah Lomu play club rugby for Weymouth when I was 9 years old, I stood on the grass bank that day with 100 or so others and witnessed a teenage Lomu run over 5 grown men on the way to the try line. We all new he was special, I'm glad my Dad asked me to come watch this guy called Lomu play, I hope one day his kids will watch this and know they came from a champion. RIP brother
I'm American. Don't know shit about rugby. This is the most impressive athletic specimen I've ever seen.
Morgan Lee he was a beast. And he was never a 100% healthy his whole career he had a kidney disease. One can only wonder what he wouldve been like without it.
Funny you say that because I'd guesstimate that at least 90% of NFL players are just as athletic if not more than him. There's a reason they get paid the big bucks and this guy is stuck dumpstering pseudoathletes. Most the guys this beast is playing against look like intramural players tbh lol
@@talon6890 not really imo, rugby is very followed so athletes are at a elite level
@@pandemonioaccademy6690 elite sure, but not top tier
@@talon6890 its a matter of numbers man, the more people play it stronger are the atheletes ,
I met Johan around 2000 in Porirua Police College.Him,Christain Cullen,Tana Umaga ,Ilama Iramare pactising on the too field.Even spoke with the big guy.Man im no one to him and he couldnt have been nicer.RIP big fella....Sidenote;I noticed everytime the NZ national anthem played Jonah was often the only All Black with his hand over his heart. To this day I havnt seen a more humble, respectful or grateful resipiant of the Black jersey than thd all mighty JONAH LOMU.
The fact a WINGER could bounce FORWARDS to the turf when they tried to tackle him was just phenomenal. Rest Easy, Jonah , you are much missed.
Never complained that he had kidney failures - he kept on playing - fighting till the end!!
As a person with CKD I can tell you that Jonah only played at 70 per cent! Can you imagine if he did not have the kidney disease and played at 100 per cent! At 70 he was unstoppable and 100 he would have been other world! He is the reason that I started to watch rugby! RIP Mr. Jonah Lomu! Compliments from Canada! Always and All Black Fan!
He played to the whistle like a real champ would
Majestic, mercurial, magnificent, a demigod. My lifetime has been blessed by having the honour to see the greatest ever. First saw him in HK sevens in 1994 and was in awe. Never seen anything like him before, during, or after. Simply the greatest ever, without equal. Heaven has the greatest angel.
Lets face it. There is only 1 Rugby SUPER STAR, Jonah, every other great player is a star.
Dan Carter? Beauden Barrett? Faf de Clerk?
Jonah was the only reason I tuned into rugby games I'm a die hard league fan rip Jonah never forget that semi final in 95 against England getting woken up by dad remember dad yelling hard every time Jonah got the ball rip dad love you always
people keep comparing savea to lomu but this proves that there can only be one king of the wings. see the big man bouncing guys and they be FLYING like literally about 5--7 meters away now thats raw power man. something we wont see for a very very long time
Might have to see savea 100meter time
Back then they didn't go to camp, only local clubs, eg schools
@@thegurrutube This would still apply to EVERY player, even Lomu.
This is the best Jonah vid. Deserves more recognition.
Best Jonah video on RUclips. You even included his 40m American football pass across field. That's a rare bit of footage.
In his short and incredible career he was a human wrecking machine.
RIP Jonah
He was this strong at, best, 80% of his condition due to kidneys disorder. A total CHAMP.
Sick video. Out of all the Jonah videos this is my favourite.
Legend has it Jonah could throw a rugby ball over the crossbar from the halfway line. 50 metres.
THE BEST VIDEO AND THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD AND SPORTS NFL RUGBY SPRINTING YOU NAME IT HE WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST RIP BROTHER JONAH LOMU THE BEAST!!!!!!
Thank you Jonah for the Inspiration. The Game and the idea of being Humble and straight to Earth.
At 6:06 he just threw down these two big grown guys one after the other like they were nothing.
Tears of joy every time I watch this. RIP king.
The Godfather Jonah Laamu R.I.P BossMan All day, Err-day ALL-BLACKS Ruggaz Aotearoa Represent!!
KINGGGGGG of the WINGSSSSS yesssssss..rest in PEACE JONAH..
The way he pushes people out of the way is just hilarious.
The Wingers today are overrated compared to this BFG! Watching Lomu run live from the stadium made you love the Game more and Jonah had that effect on a staunch supporter like myself. I haven't seen a player come close to this athlete today training-wise and natural ability! Jonah could have easily become an Athletics Champ too.
Great stuff.
Some clips in here that I haven't seen in a long time.
For those who say the tacklers back then were garbage, your not taking into account the sheer speed that Jonah is running at. You only have to watch Vaea Fifita burning modern players to see that size and incredible speed combined makes "modern" players look just like these "past" players.
He was 6' 5" tall and 265 lbs and could run the 100 meters in 10.3 seconds. Plus, he could run over a steam roller if it got in this way. I played Rugby and would of hate to have "tried" to tackle him at speed!!! Great player and smart. He understood the rules completely and used them to his advantage!!!
tipene 06 thanks for the best jonah video out there and scribe in the back ground audio brilliant.
You are so right. Jonah lomu is my hero
please dont delete the video
Simply STUNNING. Have peace Jonah, legendary black arrow 🖤

We will never see another player like him in our life time... RIP to the GOAT
Jonah Lomu = 🐐
His power step was simply the best. Good lord
Thank you for this awesome video
It must have been trying to tackle a block of flats rolling down a hill
The KING OF RUGBY rest in love Jonah Lomu.
0:54 A rugby field is 70 meters wide. Jonah has thrown this pass from 5 meters from the sideline, and it's been caught at least 10 meters past the middle point. That's a 40-45 meter throw, with a rugby ball.
Back when he was playing I had heard rumours that Lomu could throw the ball over the goalposts from the halfway line. I guess that was with a running start.
Hay atletas, super atletas y Lomu.
INCREIBLE.
Absolute legend.
this video deserve more likes
Best player Ever RIP Jonah

Well Done Bro !! nice vid
Too sad he had never won a world cup which he almost single-handedly did in 95 or 99. Nobody else deserved it more.
Much more sad he got terminally ill and passed on, leaving his kids fatherless :-(
RIP BIG FELLA
Wish he was still around to help this all blacks team win the world cup

Master of the Samoan side step. Like a locomotive on a streight piece of track. Nothing gonna stop it.
His Tongan though
1:47 Rod Kafer has straight-up been thrown backwards about 3 meters after that collision. Ridiculous.

Hi is impossible too stop
simply d greatest ever
0:55 Heheh. Jonah's cross-field kicking game wasn't so good, so he just passed the ball ... across the field...
2:44 World Cup 1995 in South Africa. Jonah did all the hard work in this movement and Kronfeld took the ball off him to claim the try. The trouble was that Lomu landed with his left arm outstretched and a Welsh player on top of him. Injured shoulder right there.
4:38 World Cup 1995. All Blacks/England semi-final. The England number 14 was Tony Underwood: a young man with a very high opinion of his abilities, who was not impressed by Jonah Lomu in the run-up to the semi-final. He spent the week before the game telling any reporter who wanted to listen that he was going to show Lomu what a real wing is like. My private thought was that Underwood was going to find that difficult when he was lying flat on his face, watching Lomu run away from him, which is exactly how it happened. Lomu scored two tries down Underwood's wing and Tony could do nothing about it ( 5:47 and 6:40 ).
He ended Tony carear e never played after that
@@glennpaekau9930 I don't know where you read that, but, in reality, he continued and played his last game for England in December 1998.
Awesome vidfo

Tipene Harmer thx man 😋
hey mate i see you stole some footage of my video
Normally the 2 wingers would fight to the death over which winger gets the number 11 jersey. 5 or 2 had no glamour
Role model for the ages.
Throw away your cowardly knives boys and be a man.
Jonah was a fucking autobus on roids.
He could stop an average wingman running at full speed while standing still. He could also run faster than said wingman.
This dude had no rights to carry that much power.
Should've been played as a no 8.
