- Jonah Lomu was a New Zealand rugby union player of Tongan descent.
Although I’m English I always respected this player, he was such an inspiration to watch when I was growing up.
Thank you for all the great memories, you are an inspiration to us all.

As an England fan I will never forget the way he dismantled the English in that world cup. The way Lomu ran over Mike Catt was awesome and as a rugby fan I had never seen anything like it. What a talent and from all accounts a kind and great gentleman. Respect
I was SO confident of the England team, that I had a 50 quid bet with a young Kiwi colleague.
He was very gracious when he accepted the money from me. He didn't gloat at all.
And I was humbled by Jonah, and did not resent paying up one bit.
I sat watching the game with my mouth open.
We witnessed the birth of a star.
Absolutely it was UNBELIEVABLE.
❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅😊
The only player in my 60 years to force me to enjoy games where my beloved England lost 😍🇬🇧
I saw him with my son in Christchurch just strolling back to his hotel. Seeing him face to face in the flesh it was impossible to ignore that immense power. We stood like a pair of idiots just gawping. He stopped and his face spread into an enormous smile and he said hello guys. My son in his Yorkshire accent wished him luck. He said aren’t you supporting England? We said absolutely not go the AllBlacks which made him laugh. A true gentle giant.
The speed of a winger, the strength of a prop and modest to boot. Huge respect for Jonah Lomu
Greetings from Tahiti.
RIP Warrior.
Can't remember whether it was a Bledisloe cup match or a world cup game NZ vs Australia, but Jonah gets the ball and is thundering down the wing when Tim Horan from Australia, who was about 1/3 of Jonah's' size, decides he needs to tackle him head on to stop a runaway try. I swear everybody watching thought they were about to watch a death on the field. Incredibly, Horan pulled off the tackle and lived to tell the tale. Jonah was a tank with a human head. But he also had a great skillset beyond his imposing dimensions and this terrific tribute shows just some of his mastery of the game. He was a team player with great personal courage on and off the field. The game was made better by his presence in it.
A great player and a great guy. The last time I saw him, it was long after he’d finished playing, he was surrounded by kids signing autographs for them. RIP Jonah. Respect.
I will always think of Jonah with great respect and affection. We lost a giant in every sense of the word. Greetings from South Africa.
R.I.P brother 🙏🏿🙏🏿
I'll never forget Jonah Lomu in the 1995 🏉 WORLD CUP I was 15 and never seen anything like it in my life and still haven't. Thank you Jonah for being an amazing man and unbelievable athlete RIP much love from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪

More than an amazing Rugby player, he was also an awesome human being and the world is poorer for losing him at such a young age. RIP you big beautiful beast.

Leí todos los comentarios. Muy lindos, mucho señalando q no solo era un enorme jugador en todos los sentidos, sino también recordando a una gran persona. Hermoso homenaje, gracias por compartirlo.
More Than Words.......! Thanks🌹

Malo , malo aupito . Ofa atu toko .
Simply the best.
Miss you bro. Rest well. You earnt it. Thank you so much.
Oh damnit, I'm tearing up!
There is no justice.
Andrews and Underwood never really recovered after Jonah thundered through them, it affected their psyche as did it mine as a mere spectator.
Possibly the greatest rugby player of all time, he brought the game forward from where the winger was a small nippy fella to a blisteringly fast and monstrously powerful colossus and thus set the benchmark for everything that followed.
If you're young and you enjoy RU nowadays you might not even know who is largely responsible for the speed and flow of it.
Look no further than the late and mighty Jonah Lomu.
G'bless and goodnight Jonah.
World 🌎 Class love from Ireland 🍀
Loved the big guy even when he was thrashing my team rest in peace big fella 🙏

Absolute legend ❤
A true great, there never be another.
The master of initiating the contact.
The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long...
Lomu was the best All Black of all time.
And that is some accolade.
He truly stood on the shoulders of giants.
A gentle giant a true gentleman on and off the field he had it all size speed skill a phenomenon great respect for this true warrior.
Rugby's greatest ever wing. RIP Jonah. I salute you
Late Jonah Lomu made me a huge RWC fan. The day he tragically passed away, I no longer became the RWC fan. For me, late Top Gun: Jonah Lomu WAS, IS and WILL ALWAYS be Rugby's G.O.A.T. Thank you, farewell, God bless and Rest in Peace, Champ. 🙏🙏🙏
Seen some fantastic players in my life but still not seen a single rugby player that was so exciting to watch with ball in hand. Frightening that he never played at 100% fitness. Sorely missed.
What a LEGEND .....
Beautiful man, a gift for Rugby. Aroha.
the sublime player

An unbelievable rugby player and a train on legs.
Quel joueur !!! Un monstre du rugby !!!
Huge Respects
I Had the great pleasure of meeting Mr Lomu in a Tescos, Im the security guard at one of the big Tescos and I was taught (Not by Tesco) to inform CCTV if any celebrities come in so they can watch them incase any punters get a bit funny with the Celebrities,
So Mr. Lomu and his son wander into the store just doing their shopping and i tell CCTV and think nothing of it,
In the big Tescos they have little independent shops that rent floor space and right next to my lectern was a fitness shop where the two people there that day was a big weightlifting guy and the Manager who was a petit yoga teacher,
I wander in there to tell the Weightlifting guy that Mr, Lomu had just walked in and he looked at me blankly and said "Who??"
From the back of their shop i hear a big scream and the petit yoga manager comes running up to me shouting "OMG OMG YOU'RE JOKING"
i said " No he is here" and showed her on my cameras
She was bricking it and said "I cant talk to him he is like my hero" So i thought "Bugger it i will ask him to meet her"
So as him and his son were leaving i approached him and asked if he would sign his autograph for her, he was such a class human that he happily chatted with her and had some pictures with her,
He died about a week later and she was in bits and so thankful that i had asked him to meet her
As a Non Rugby Fan I used to watch Kiwi international games just to see him. A truly Amazing Athlete feared by All. Gone too soon. 🙏 RIP Big Man, Big Heart.
Fantastic player, sadly missed from a welshman, always loved the guinness advert he was in , brilliant
¡Inolvidable Lomu!
He is the chosen one,,rip Mr lomu
Rest in love Jonah!
I'm just here for the comments section. To read the Boks fans BS comments about Jonah not scoring against the Boks. While Lomu never scored, almost every run he embarrassed the Boks defence by steamrolling over 3 or 4 Boks (forwards and backs) so that Cullen, Wilson and other score tries untouched. The Boks were so obsessed with stopping Lomu they forgot there were 14 other players to stop 🤣🤣🤣 RIP Legend
Springbok here. Jonah Lomu is the GOAT rugby player of all time. That baby junior All Black with kidney disease at 40% of his potential ran through top teams like it was nothing.
End of debate Lomu was the best ever.
Whenever he received the ball 🏈 you were on the edge of your seat
Great tribute
Enorme jugador!!!!
Recuerdo su potencia y velocidad.
Una pena sus problemas de salud.
respect
Legend
I enjoy the outpouring of love for Lomu. So many threads about other greats are full of haters. I absolutely detest my instinct it's just because he's gone. But Carter and Wilko and McCaw get no such adulation.
Best winger ever.

I am an Aussie.😀
And he was my favourite player 😀
Yep....
Always in my heart, memories
Joost was the only guy to level him, he’s gone too.
Only guy?? What rugby have you been watching. Gregan was able to take him down. So was Peter Stringer of ireland. And about a dozen more
To match Lomu in that number 11 Jersey you would have to match him or be better can't see it happening for a long long time most definitely an all time great that is untouchable and second to none thanks Jonah forever legend that inspires young rugby players in the future

GOAT
How can you be 120kgs and run 100m in 10.7 seconds wtf
No one ever talked shit about Lomu. The man never had a shit game.
What a wonderful talent. Certainly a life cut too short. I wonder how many young lives he may have turned around to the positive had he lived a little longer. To his family... (and to the rest of those in awe of his talent) he will never be forgotten.
