Lomu's ability to out pace, out strength and out wit his opponents makes him a very formidable player. Standing at 6ft 5, weighing a whopping 120 kg and running 10.8 seconds (100m) makes him an once in a lifetime athlete.

Wait this man was running 10s.... Wtf
That huge impact if hit someone.
In behalf of my family thank you for your kind words about my cousin and my brother Jonah Tali Lomu it is a huge lost for my family.
+Mataiasi Lomu The world of rugby is today mourning the loss of a true legend. We are grateful for his life & feel the pain of his loss. Rest in peace great man!
+Mataiasi Lomu All my praises and my thoughts to your family!!! May your soul rest in peace Mr Jonah Lomu aka The G.O.A.T

+Mataiasi Lomu Respect and sorrow from Italy.
He was an inspirational player and a kind and gentle man my hearts breaking for you all xx
"This dude silenced a nation when he tore through Englands defence like they we 6 year old children"
- An English man.
And wasn't that just fantastic? I could watch that moment when he blasted his way through and steamrollered over poor old Mike Catt again and again. That twat Carling wanted him banned from the game because "he was a freak", the fucking gobshite.
MsG
I’ve read will carlings comments In the independent online and he says I hope he goes away, but is in awe of the player
@christopher russell Yup. "Joel Strinski you beauty". South Africa winning was so unlikely that they ended up making a damn film about it.
Their gameplan? Don't let Lomu get the ball. They beat the All Blacks in the middle of the field and kept picking up penalties. Kept the game tight.
christopher russell well you’re still here watching him in awe, otherwise what are you doing here? Just browsing, coincidence? I’m here because I respect and admire him, you??
@christopher russell what a stupid comment - "south sea islanders" nz is a south pacific island filled up with south pacific islanders and I bet you wish Jonah hadnt been born in nz then you could get on the old well-worn british fable "nz poaching a southsea islander" bandwagon - you twat!!!
The way that Lomu run at his prime is like a young Ronaldo Nazario, both had the same body moves, that thunderous acceleration and direction changes, fints... Really beautiful and devastating. Great great great player
+Paco Rodríguez i thought i was the only one who realized that! :O
+ForzaAquila hahahaha now you realized too that we have the same clinic eye! Cheers!
+Paco Rodríguez they even have the same haircut lmao
+Paathurnax To me the best Rugby player I have seen on video was Lomu, and the best soccer player I have ever seen is Ronaldo R9 from Brazil. I agree with similarities from both Phenomenons of Soccer and Rugby.
Peter Stahl Same here, Ronaldo was incredible
Can not imagine how many spinal surgeries, torn rotator cuffs, dislocated shoulders and headaches he has inflicted during his time on the field, should be in the Guinness book of World records.. watched him from Wesley College to Counties Steelers to ABs.
Legends live forever
Now there is a man who never skipped leg day.
It's in the polynesian genes.
Actually quite the opposite, his legs were naturally so big that he always skipped legged day.
I Aam
As a teenager at home he use to squat car engines.
They better build a big ass statue of him outside New Zealands main stadium! RIP Jonah
+R Sosa totally agree
He inspired me to play rugby all the way from the great state of Texas. Gone to soon, long live the greatest rugger of all time.
they won't, he's not white.
FYI New Zealands main stadium is called Ecolight stadium in Pukekohe
@@TheGrayWarbler Ecolight Stadium : "I'm No. 1 "
Eden Park : "Hold my beer!"
Imagine a tank running as fast as a motorbyke..
+Marco Peláez Fernández More like an rhino running as fast as a cheetah - only thing I enjoy more than watching him steamroll 3 tacklers at once is seeing him run past, through and away from would-be tacklers. Fuckin LEGEND... shame about his illness; he would've set records that would never be broken
Yepp, Jonah Lomu is the name :))))
STRONG FAST
Scary shit
able to change direction like a scooter in the traffic

Too big, too strong, too humble, too great. Thanks for the memories Jonah RIP
Too fast
Even though i'm South-African I couldn't help but cry watching Jonah.. great man !! He never scored a try against the Springboks because his rugby brother Joost van der Westehuizen was always there to except his challenge. #Respect
Not an once in a generation player, an once in forever player. LEGEND.
I am Argentinian, Lomu is the Maradona for rugby... for ever "the beast" Rip Jonah
Don't insult Lomu with that bs. Maradona isn't even the Best player from Argentina nevermind the world
Maradona was meh.
Maradona was god
Very high praise indeed my friend! Much love from New Zealand! 😊
@@johnroughneen3585 Do you think Lionel Messi is better than Maradona?
This man was truly an athlete of Epic proportion. Strength of an african elephant. Acceleration of a cheetah. Skill to equal ANY1. Simply, a force of nature that was on a totally different level to any1 else. Soooo tragic that he left this earth wayyy before he should of. RIP Jonah Lomu. RESPECT.
RIP Jonah. Although I loved watching you play, it still astounds me how fast and powerful he actually was. One-in-seven billion!
RIP man, you were the best.
Not were mate is 😂😂😂😂
Just saying
My goodness what a champion
I m not a big fan of Rugby but this guy made me follow several games . Great athlete and person legends never die !
R.I.P. Jonah Lomu may God rest your soul!
What do the All Blacks do with a 120kg forward who can also run faster than anyone else on the field. The put him in the backs and created a legend. You will see, repeatedly in the clips, where he just runs through the tacklers. The oppostion are lauded international teams here. Its true that this man, a true gentle role model for a generation of kids, was a quiet reserved man. Rugby will not be the same without him.
I have never been able to get into rugby because we don't have it over here in America but this man belongs with the greatest athletes to ever walk the earth. I don't think I've ever seen somebody of his size run with that much grace
You have rugby in America, you've even won a sevens tournament. It's just not all that profitable there atm I guess so not well advertised
This guy man..... He coulda been a soccer player, nfl player, basketball player, fighter anything, hes just overall beast this guy uses lava for bed sheets he eats cereal and drinks blood for breakfast, the muscle on him he probably squats 400+ benches a prius. "We have an army""we have a hulk" i want a Jonah Lomu for any battle
R.I.P
Jesus could you imagine how scary he would've been as a fighter
He was like Wilton Norman Chamberlain in basketball. A once in a life time player!
He had the biggest squat lift in the ABs.
Jonah brought the masses to rugby. Unlike anything ever seen before, a truly awesome player.
The world of rugby in New Zealand was never the same after he left the sport, and this world! We miss our gentle giant.
The ferocity of this man. The absolute balance. The explosive speed. The perfect foot work. And most of all the mindset of this man is what makes him the greatest rugby player of all time.
RIP big fella, it was an honour having to watch you play in your prime. Hopefully I’ll meet you at the end of the road 💪🏼💪🏼🙏🏻🙏🏻
Poetry in motion. Greatest athlete I ever saw in my life. Always a football fan ,but if Jonah played I'd watch rugby.
Was very lucky to meet this guy in Poole, England about 2 months before his death. He’s such a kind, humble man. I was shocked to hear he died soon after. Rest in peace Jonah, we love you. 🖤
RIP big man. In a nation that produces more than its fare share of rugby greats, you were one of its greatest.
Probably the most iconic rugby player of all time and I'm an Englishman. I will never forget how he burst onto the scene from nowhere in the 1995 world cup; he was the man of the moment who every kid wanted to emulate in the playground at the time, even non rugby fans were talking about him! I should imagine trying to tackle him would have been like trying to stop a freight train charging at you at full speed; it would have been impossible. RIP big man.
Amazing power! I am impressed!
Eternal memory to the Great Player!
From Russia with love 💌
The only man that Chuck Norris calls 'SIR'!! Still missed.
no one has even come close to replicating Jonah Lomu on the rugby field, no in speed, size & power all-in-one package...such an awesome human being. I had the privilege of meeting him, and totally a different person off the field. Respect dok's, R.I.P
Two words to describe Jonah Lomu:
THE. GOAT.
I saw Lomu come towards me once in Auckland and he veered off and spoke to a friend of mine. Very peaceful calm person, nothing like the man we saw on the field. Made me realize he was just like me a kid from a suburb in Auckland who later became the biggest Rugby star ever. RIP.
Imagine Jonah Lomu running at you. Now imagine a runaway freight train charging at you. Then again, I repeated myself.
Tu cara viendo eso : 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀🧉🧉🧉🧉🧉🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
No-one transcended the sport of rugby union quite like Jonah Lomu. Bursting onto the scene of the 1995 World Cup, Lomu was a force of nature, the player of the tournament by some distance. His blend of pace, power and size never before seen.
Not just a rugby legend, a legend of sport. I don't think has been anyone, even in the history of the world perhaps, with his combination of speed, height and strength. RIP.
RIP Champ !! The best player ever in this sport !! You will stay in our memories for ever ;-( ....respect from France !!
The great Jonah Lomu. May he rest in peace and may his wife and sons be ok. A great man
I hadn't heard of Jonah until 15 minutes ago (not very familiar with rugby). This blows my mind. The power, speed and agility on display is super-human. Definitely need to watch some more of this game.
RIP Jonah !!! One of the greatest men gone too soon from this world ! Respect to You and condoleances to family and friends !!!
Jonah lomu plus qu'incroyable une légende qui a fasciné des milliers de jeunes ❤😢
Shocked, stunned & tearful at the passing of The Legend that was Johah Lomu. He strode the field like a Titan & moved with the power & speed of an express train. Rugby is today mourning the loss of a true great! RIP.
I never liked Rugby, until I knew of Jonah Lomu. What a machine. Every male kid would look at this clip and say, I want to be like that. Its fantastic.
Possibly the greatest Rugby player we will ever see
I was fortunate to have seen him play against the Wallabies live in 2000
RIP Jonah You will be always be remembered
It's only fitting that the first video I see today is his tribute.
A gentle giant with a freakish talent, unlike any the world has seen.
You will be missed, Jonah. You will be missed...
I never seen anything like him he was unbelievable and when he sadley passed away i just couldnt believe it, what a loss to the sport. R.I.P Jonah forever a legend mate!
Not sure I'll see another like him in my life-time. Extraordinary talent
Unbelieveble strong, speed and brilliant Jonah Lomu is ... Greatest rugby player the world have ever had 💪💪💪💪💪 .. R l P Jonah Lomu ...
Greatest winger of all time and only playing at 70%. Imagine him playing at 100%. RIP
only playing at 70% due to kidney problems?
He was an all black.. They always give everything
@@keanujackson2834 you can't when you have kidney disease. I have same and I agree 70 per cent is even pushing it! He was the best even at 70 per cent! So you can imagine how great he was!
He spent most of his career with only one kidney functional. That why he only use 70% of his body ability.
@@ronbonora7872 I have the same disease too, it's a punch in the guts because you can never be your full potential with kidney disease, messes up a lot of functions in the body, you can still be athletic and competitive but can never reach your full potential.
It's amazing to watch a man that size and power with so much agility.
I never get tired of watching this guy run. RIP Jonah
RIP big guy! You played for the enemy, but you were my favourite player when I was growing up. You will be missed.
Au revoir et Merci pour ces beaux moments que tu nous as offert. RIP.
RIP Jonah! Absolute machine, true legend 👌🏻
RIP, what an absolute legend of a man. Unbelievable speed and grace for a man of that size. Gone but will never be forgotten!
This man brought an incredible beauty and grace to rugby. Like Usain Bolt, Mr Lomu is just beautiful to watch. What a sad, sad loss to rugby and to the world. But thank you for sharing your incredible talent with the rugby watching public. Unforgettable and irreplaceable.
Lomu with his brilliant game gave a shift in interest and the development of rugby in many countries around the world.
You captured our nation in 1995, a year after democracy. A giant among mortals. You will never be forgotten! RIP Jonah Lomu.
I just saw the film.
The man
The myth
The legend.
Forever Jonah Lomu.
Humble in his presence. Unstoppable in Life.
Churr brother.2022!
The courage of this man is amazing. This is the first time I have ever laid eyes on him. I will regret that forever.
god put some ridiculous stats on this guy:
tall
heavy
powerful
and FAST
is that even possible to have all of these physical attributes in one body?
You didn’t put a capital G in God
His only drawback was his death at a young age RIP Jonah
it’s in polynesian genes
You missed the one important 'stat' - he was the best by far
You just never expect a man that size to move as swiftly and precisely as he does. When he goes full bore it's truly magical to witness. A great and unexpected loss
One of the best pure athletes in sports history
RIP big guy. What you did for rugby will never be forgotten. Thoughts to all your family and friends.
Rest in peace Jonah, you are a legend in sport and the game of rugby.
RIP to the greatest player to ever play the sport
Izahk Jester non
Izahk Jester not the greatest but one of the greatest
@@userman9301 He Is The Man
Still stuns me how ridiculously powerful and fast he was 0_o
hozzers316 The compitition was smaller and slower. He wouldn't last a game in the NFL, He runs standing straight up and could never take the big hits from linebackers. He knows that, thats why he stays in rugby.... Rugby is lame
UKMSports He's the same size as Gronkowski, there are alot of guys in the league his size.
He has never taken the hits he would take if he was in the NFL.
I agree he is a good athlete but I don't think he could take a NFL pounding.
I promise you there would be some guys that wouldn't be afraid to tackle him.
Sounds like Wagner was just being polite.
Why doesn't he come over and try out like Hayne is doing ?
I would love to see players from other countries in the NFL,it would make it funner to watch and create intrest oversea's.
NBA Basketball and MLB Baseball have people from all over the world playing but they can't find anyone oversea's to play American football...[I understand they are not exposed to it] It's still truly a American game.
I will be watching Hayne,it will be interesting to see how he does
.blogs.mercurynews.com/49ers/2015/08/01/aussie-rb-jarryd-hayne-ready-to-make-contact-in-pursuit-of-roster-spot/
Michael B. He was actually still a good 10-20 lbs heavier than gronk and not just faster in a straight line but he is far more agile and his cuts are are much better than gronks, don't get me wrong I love the nfl and nowadays in rugby I doubt anyone could match the running power and speed of nfl players like AD, but honestly rugby is a becoming far more physical and if you actually have the courtesy to look them I suggest having a gander at hosea gear manu tuilagi rene ranger henry speight or julian savea
Michael B. Another point to note is rugby has a very strong polynesian player base far more so nowadays than jn the old footage here and a report showed that children born to samoan parents are 56 times more likely to make it in the nfl than children born to those of other races so don't go telling me rugby players are weak or unathletic
Michael B. And even the strongest player in the nfl bench press combine was stephen paea a polynesian kiwi guy who used to play rugby
Respect from a Bokke fan . I loved seeing the big guy play 🖤
RIP, Jonah. You absolute legend. xxxx
"stop the number 6!"
"YES COACH!"
"now get the number 9"
"AYE COACH!"
"stop Lomu!"
"...i think i'll try to stop a truck..."
still have memories of him literally running through England in 1995. Because of him he inspired so many children to play Rugby. R.I.P
Woke up to the sad news that he passed away. It's only fitting that the first video I see today is his tribute.
A gentle giant with a freakish talent, unlike any the world has seen.
You will be missed, Jonah. You will be missed...
Beast and a Legend, loved it when he played the English and just breezed through them as if they weren't even there. R.I.P Burger - Big Man ;).
Four men weren't enough to stop that machine. Yet he died penniless at 40. My hero.
The best ever, awesome player, always looked forward to seeing that man play, pretty unstoppable......
Simply the best. Exceptional athlete and a gentleman.
Big man with even bigger heart may he be in a better place
That’s Polynesian blood flowing through his/our veins for u bro!!! He woulda been the greatest and a true warrior back then w/ his ancestors. He does not give up, and does not hold back!!!
peace, warrior. you were a huge inspiration to little kids playing rugby everywhere.
What I'm really sad about is that we never got to see Jonah in absolute peak fitness and playing maturity. He was devastating to watch when he first started but sadly his kidney issues were already sapping his energy. I'm in awe that he actually continued to play as well as he did but he never got to see him reach his peak. That would have been extraordinary to watch. RIP JL and thanks for sharing what you did while you were here.
RIP my friend and god speed. Thanks for the memories.
Imagine the power of a Rhinoceros with the speed and agility of a Cheetah : that was the Human Jonah !
Enough said.
Rest in peace, beautiful man.
This is a beautiful video, a great tribute to a great man. Thank you for posting it :-)
Nothing but respect for this guy.
RIP
Jonah Lomu, a guardian angel in Heaven.
A great compilation of a great man! I don't even know the rules of rugby but would ALWAYS watch if jonah lomu was playing!
the best thing I saw in my life, greetings from Argentina
Its 2019 he would destroy players today in his prime 1 word... beast
Вечная память Великому спортсмену!
I'm not even a rugby fan. But my older brother was a player and I remember us in the mid 90s watching world cup match All Blacks v England. Lomu was just running through people it was scary stuff.
The LEGEND!!!! The Best of all the times...RIP JONAH.

Great tribute. World class RIP.
Rest In Peace Jonah

Gone too soon Jonah, thank you for your amazing ability
Jim Brown too. Another American football legend. You are right, you did not want to be in the way of Lomu. Pure strength and speed... check. Competitiveness... absolutely. And they do it all without padding! Great runs, thanks to whomever posted this.
rip from ireland you were the greatest of all time it was you jona that got me into rugby and made me be the best winger i could be you'll be missed
