While it's definitely interesting to see how the elite live, I often question why is it anyone who has a family of 3 or 4 would need 7 or 10 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, etc. I guess having great wealth inspires decadence. Personally, if I had that kind of money, I would buy a easy to maintain by myself place and surround it with woodlands and a pond area and encourage wildlife to enjoy a safe space...but that's my dream and I have to respect that others who have earned their decadence have their own ideal dream places.
I understand the need for some privacy and safety and space that isn't cramped. What I will NEVER understand is wasting money on wasted space and needless rooms upon rooms of more rooms. Unless you have 10 families living with you, you don't need 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms! If you've got THAT kind of money to WASTE........then you've got THAT kind of money to write me a nice sized check for a few million in cash!!!
