It seems expensive by Chinese standards, but in a city, like New York City, or Los Angeles, that would likely be something like 12 grand a month. A studio apartment in New York City is like four or five grand a month. It’s such a wonderful spacious apartment. My buddy lives in Shanghai, and has been for the last five years or so. I want to go visit him possibly next year.

Price of condo in city center is dropping but not by much I was working for a company base in Shanghai 5 yr ago it was 780 USD for a loft studio it is a little cheaper now it is much cheaper outside city center even in hangzhou or Suzhou is better less people only 2 hr by train.

Shanghai now like Beijing is in a major recession and it is getting worse by the month. Most foreigners have left and the "French quarter" now has a lot of apartments sitting empty. More and more foreign businesses are pulling out of China permanently. Watch the videos below that you can search in RUclips that I put in quotes for the title of the videos. It will show you what is going on in the tier-1 cities in China. It isn't pretty. That is why there is an explosion on RUclips on videos of China to try and get people to visit China.

Wow 4 grand thats wild. I had an offer of an 8000 rmb housing stipend but that seems like it won't help much. I guess living further from the city center might help but still.

@@ByancaG that's probably key. I think my work site was gonna be in Songjiang anyway so maybe it would be better to stay close to work. Hard to know from far away.
@@rizzletronSongjiang is way way way cheaper for sure. I live in the same neighborhood as her, for a decent 2brs with elevators and updated decoration, it could range from 12K to 16K CNY.
